Lipa is the name of the Slovenian national tree 'Linden'. The typeface Lipa Agate by Croatian designer Ermin Međedović, is part of a bigger type collection, comprising various type groups into one coherent system which Ermin developed over the past 10 years. Lipa Agate is the first to be released; a sans serif designed and engineered to be used in the smallest text sizes, best under 10pt, and in very bad printing conditions. Rough Love, it’s fair to say, came before Love Script. The brushed letter specimens that would ultimately serve as the template for the much ‘cleaner’ Love Script have now been turned into a typeface. As I packed these up, I just kept coming back to them and staring at the texture and movement caught on the page. On a lark, I decided it would be fun to let people see an almost a before and after scenario of how one led to the other and decided to produce a typeface from these specimens… Rough Love. For the most part, in typical fashion for me when I brush out a typeface idea, I try to brush the entire character set along with each of the planned variants for swashes, titling, and other alternates—the reason for that is simple -- each letter looks and acts a bit differently when the same movements are imposed on them. With Rough Love, I tried to adhere to that and made very few modifications to the originals, and only had to ‘borrow’ in a few occasions when I happened to forget to brush a variant.

Gutta Percha is a font for golfers. It takers its name from a hard, resilient natural substance that comes from the sap of trees grown in southeast Asia and which was used for the hard core of golf balls well into the twentieth century, when it was gradually replaced with synthetic material. It therefore seemed an appropriate name for a font using the image of a golfer of the 1920s. The letters are from our font Besley Clarendon, reduced to 70%. That means that Gutta Percha set at 40 points will have the same size letters as Besley Clarendon set at 28 points. However, it should be noted that the two fonts have different baselines. If you use them together you will have to manually adjust the vertical alignment. Gutta Percha is obviously a very specialized font, both because of the subject matter and because the uppercase is designed for use as dropped caps. There may not be many uses for it, but when it is right, it will be really right. Whether you are publishing a book about the history of golf or a clubhouse bulletin, Gutta Percha will surely be noticed.

Nightshade was my attempt to bring the Old English fonts up to date. The capital letters still contain flourishes, but they look more machined and less calligraphic. I called the font Nightshade after the plant of the same name. Like the plant, it may be considered to be beautiful or poisonous depending on one's outlook. As a result, it can be applied when an attractive, ornate look is required, or it can be used when there is a need to create a more chilling effect. A year after the tremendous success of Memoriam in the "Lives They Lived" issue of the New York Times magazine at the end of 2008, Patrick Griffin and Nancy Harris Rouemy teamed up once more to tackle the same project for the 2009 issue. This time the magazine's design concept revolved around a typeface they created specifically for custom vertical malleability, and that can play just as well in single- or multi-color environments. The result was another iconic commemorative issue that shows exotic tri-line letters merging, swashing, extending and flourishing in stunning gold, silver and blue on black on the cover, and in black on white on the inside pages. Just like in the previous year, the issue won multiple publication design and typography awards. Crescendo is that typeface, finally issued for retail by public demand. Just turn your setting into outlines in your favorite vector program, grab single strands and extend away, and do your best alternating colours between strands. Crescendo comes with a limited punctuation set, but accented characters for Western Latin languages are included, and there many, many alternates and ligatures in there as well. This typeface is best used in large display sizes.

Tokoloshe is a name in African mythology for a mischievous leprechaun-like figure that loves practical jokes and tricking people. There are many books of such African stories, for example Tales of the Tokoloshe by Pieter Scholtz. The letter shapes that I used in the Tokoloshe font have inspiration from two sources: -- the spiky character of the font was derived from the wonderfully imaginative, wooden carvings of the Makonde people of beings called "shetani". The word "tokoloshe" is used by other tribes, but from his behaviour, he is certainly a type of shetani. -- some of the letter shapes were informed by Art Deco styles of fonts, for example: Kunjani, Black Tie SF, Selznick Normal, Zaire SF, Binner Gothic and ITC Anna. But the Tokoloshe font, like its namesake, is much more freespirited. Use this font whenever you want to suggest the rich artistic, cultural and spiritual heritage of Africa. The font is fully professional in terms of its character set. It contains over 235 characters - (upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals, symbols and accented characters are present). In fact, it has all the accented characters used in the major European languages.

Quartal is a family of stylish sans serif typefaces of condensed proportions. The family consists of 5 regular weights, 4 condensed ones and 13 extended styles (7 upright and 6 italic). At first there was intention to release just 4 condensed weights for headlines and advertising texts, but later 5 styles of wider proportions were added. As the result the area of applications becomes much wider due to possibility to use the font for smaller point sizes. The name "Quartal", which in this case means city quarter, according to author's associations emphasizes the advertising nature of the design most suitable to the urban environment. Character set of the fonts covers alphabets of Western Europe and basic Cyrillic languages. In addition, it includes a range of alternatives, especially in Cyrillic part. Design was done by Oleg Karpinsky. Released by ParaType in 2010. In 2011 13 new styles of extended proportions were added to Quartal family by the same author. 7 new weights and 6 corresponding italics make Quartal useful for setting not very long texts in advertising and display matter, and for magazines as well.

Homework font was specially conceived/designed for teaching cursive writing. This resource allows tutors and parents to create worksheets for individual or class teaching. Associated with the dashed version of the font, students can learn and exercise their handwriting abilities. All capital letters, excluding I, F, T and P, link to any following small letter: the sequence of the previous letter stroke always follows the angle of the initial stroke of the subsequent letter. This, in the real world, means that words built with the font can be handwritten without having to lift the pen from the paper (except to cross t and f and dot i and j) or interrupt the writing flow. All the letters are base aligned and all small letters have the same ‘x’ height in order to fit a ruled worksheet. Homework font letter stroke widths are uniform in order to emulate regular pens. Homework font also mimics genuine handwriting, making it useful for online stores gift cards, thank you cards and all applications where a real world feel is desired. The Homework font also performs well on long texts.

Klatter is a font that is "in your face". It can't be ignored, and draws attention to itself no matter how noisy the environment. Edita is a gentle typeface, humanistic in concept yet with a contemporary feel, where softness and fluidity play a very important role. This can be seen especially in its italics, which are loosely based on handwriting. This book typeface family is intended to be used in books where text is set together with photographs and other graphic elements. However, Edita is a general book typeface, versatile enough to be used in many other contexts, from novels to promotion material. Edita’s large character set, covering most languages which use Latin script, and styles give the designer the possibility to work with a big typographic palette, allowing complex typesetting with several levels of information. This is further enhanced by the two optically corrected weights Edita Small and Small Italic. They have been particularly designed for their use in very small type sizes, such as in captions and notes. The Vinča script is a cache of symbols found belonging to the Vinča culture of the central Balkans over 7000 years ago. The symbols have been a topic of debate amongst historians. The Tărtăria tablets are three tablets discovered in 1961 in the village of Tărtăria(Hungarian: Alsótatárlaka). This is about 30 km (19 mi) from Alba Iulia in Romania.The tablets, dated to around 5300 BC, have symbols inclay: the Vinča symbols. Some claim they are a yet undeciphered language. If this is so, they would be the earliest known form of writing. In 1908 similar symbols were found during excavations, by Miloje Vasić (1869–1956) in Vinča. This is a suburb of Belgrade (Serbia), some 300 km from Turdaș. Later, more were found in another part of Belgrade. Since 1875 over one hundred and fifty Vinča sites have been found in Serbia alone. Many, including Vinča itself, have not been fully excavated. The culture of the whole area is called the Vinča culture. Although some of these symbols look exactly the same as some letters in Etruscan, Greek, and Aramaic, they are generally regarded as a an original, independent development.

The Macarons font family consists of a monoline version, regular and bold weights, and a set of gestural catchwords, which reflects the use of the ruling pen as a freestyle tool. Ornaments and dingbats are also included. Macarons is a display type based on the classic Garamond typeface. It’s inspired by the foodie culture and the slow food movement, which began as a rebellion against fast food and has now grown to a global scale. A few years ago I've discovered the work of one of the most prolific typeface designers of the Bruce type Foundry in NYC during late nineteenth century. Browsing Julius Herriet's work I found a very unique kind of ligatures in his patented "Old Style Ornamented" type design. Some letters were designed with a little top tail that allowed them to connect to each other. After that, I found that he also designed a single italic weight of the same font 7 years later. Since the beginning of the Opentype days I’ve been deeply obsessed with exploring different ways to build ligatures, so that lead me up to this point where I felt the need to create “Plethora”, this new font inspired by Herriet’s work. Extrapolating weights, adding variable technology and playing with additional interconnected letters and alternates. Definitely, Plethora means a large or excessive amount of something, and this font tries to bring back this abundance of details two centuries later. Available in 9 weights, from roman to italic, and also as variable format, “Plethora” supports plenty of latin languages and is a perfect choice for today’s design tides.

MVB Solano Gothic Bold was originally designed as a display face for the City of Albany, California (located on the San Francisco Bay facing the Golden Gate Bridge and bordering Berkeley). Named for the City’s main street, the typeface needed to work on signage in proximity to early 20th Century buildings, and in contemporary settings. Rather than creating a neutered design to cover all bases, Mark van Bronkhorst chose to develop a simple, strong, condensed face that would offer flexibility of style by providing both retro and more contemporary forms. Solano Gothic has since been expanded to a family offering five weights from Light to Bold. The basic fonts provide upper- and lowercase forms, with figures designed to harmonize within upper- and lowercase settings (the standard figures are not full cap height). The same figures are provided with Small Caps, and align to small cap height. For all-cap settings requiring figures and monetary symbols of full-cap height, there are the “Cap” fonts. An alternate tabular “1” is provided in all fonts so that both fitted and tabular settings of figures are possible (access to alternate characters subject to system or application support).

The inspiration source for MFC Botanical Borders is a collection of border treatments from the 1886 “Spécimens de caractères d'imprimerie” by E. Houpied a Paris. This collection of elegant floral and foliage borders has been put together with their original decorated rules, as well as alternate matching precision rules for added versatility. You can start with a new document or work on a new layer within an existing document. Select MFC Botanical Borders from the font menu. (Some users may have font previewing enabled in the font menu which will cause the font name to appear as border elements, disable this option in order to choose the name) Make certain that the point size of the font is the same as the leading being applied to the font so the borders will meet up properly. While we’ve adjusted this within the font, your program may override these settings. For instance a 12 point font should have 12 points of leading. Delfino Script is a cool, connecting script that can appear both retro and contemporary. Curved on the outsides of strokes, and jagged inside, the forms look like an abstraction of strips of tape, folding and flowing, or even marker pen style lettering. This script is not created by any pen though - its forms are constructed, not painted. Typographic features like ink traps add sparkle to the text. OpenType features include ligatures, contextual alternates (for more realistic connections) and stylistic sets. Stylistic Set 1 changes certain upper case letters into forms more suited for all caps setting, although they can also be used freely with the lower case. Set 2 changes the r into a less scripty form and set 3 adds a connecting tail to the q. Delfino Script would find itself at home in cookery books, fashion blogs, vintage car magazines and set large and proud on expanses of concrete, or, most likely, whatever you might have in mind for it! Delfina Script is practically identical to Delfino save for round tittles, periods and any other dot shaped glyph components. Strangely for such a little change, it does seem to give the face a different character.

Full Open Type features are included, from small caps to stylistic alternates, positional number forms and discretionary & standard ligatures. Sweet Gothic is a 2009 addition to the Sweet Collection of engraved lettering styles from the 20th Century.  Sweet Gothic Light is closely based on lettering from an engravers pattern from the early 1900s that was used for tracing letterforms with the engraving machine (pantograph) to make steel engraving plates. The design is related to many similar engravers gothics developed in the early 1900s, but as each engraving house created by hand their own patterns for popular styles of the time, there is variation among the models. Sweet Gothic offers contrast in stroke weight and its unique personality. The bolder weights are new designs, based on the characteristics of the Light. A serif variant (Sweet Gothic Serif) has also been developed to expand the usefulness of the family, offering an alternative to Copperplate Gothic. As such, most of the fonts are new designs, yet may seem familiar and ubiquitous given their model. The fonts offer two sizes of figures and monetary symbols: one set is intended for use with upper- and lowercase settings; the second set is the same height as the small caps.
