Imperija Roman is a display typeface inspired by stone engraved lettering. Supporting west, central and east European languages it contains over one-hundred discretionary ligatures and a stylistic set for old style diacritics. The original letters were drawn from a memorial engraving in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Further development and several iterations later, Imperija Roman has a flowing organic feel while staying true to the rigid constraints of stone-cut letters. The alternative diacritics in stylistic set one were included to give the user more options for a historical feel to the lettering. The discretionary ligatures also offer a huge range of variation and were drawn based off of historical Roman sources and common frequency digraphs in major European languages.

SlipperyFishes alternates two letter sets to create an undulating line of text that reminds me of a slippery fish. It resembles Undulate, another typeface that uses the OpenType feature of contextual alternatives (calt) to alternate letters, but while the tops and bottoms of letters in Undulate trace parallel paths, the tops and bottoms of letters in SlipperyFishes trace reflecting paths. SlipperyFishes is monospaced with tight letter spacing to accentuate the ripple pattern. The family has four members: regular, outlined, condensed, and condensed outlined. The outline styles that can be used in a layer with their base styles to add color.Slippery fishes is bizarre and weird and can be used in places where those attributes will create attention-grabbing lettering.

Lately I feel reluctant to watch the news: The Amazon Forest is burning, Australian forests are burning, palm oil controversy… It really brings tears to my eyes to see all this destruction around me. It is like people hate nature with a vengeance - I cannot explain it otherwise. I made this font to take my mind off things. It was loosely based on Futura, a font I really like. Understory was completely made by hand. It comes with some cute upper case swashes and a whole bunch of diacritics. The good thing is: no trees were cut down or burned to make this font; in fact, I donated a nice amount of $ to help save the rainforests!

Barnsley Gothic is a condensed sans serif font family. It was designed by Steve Jackaman (ITF) in 2017. It was developed alongside its sister font family, Steelplate Gothic Pro, and includes support for Latin 1 and Central/Eastern European languages. The family is named after the town of Barnsley, a coal mining town in Yorkshire, England. In 1960, there were roughly seventy collieries within a fifteen-mile radius of Barnsley town center, however the last of these closed in 1994. Barnsley Gothic has a straightforward, industrious, no-nonsense feel, much like the town it shares a name with. Always ready to do the heavy lifting in any design project, Barnsley Gothic is the quintessential workhorse font family.

A long time ago, I lived and worked in the English Lake District. When I first arrived there, I camped out not far from a neolithic monument called Castlerigg Stone Circle. Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of the most beautiful stone circles in the whole of Britain; the views are great and it makes for a nice walk from Keswick. This rather grungy font was made with a Sharpie pen I initially wanted to throw away, because it was dry, but then decided I could at least get one more font out of it. The result is Castlerigg - a rather neolithic looking all caps font. Castlerigg comes with double letter ligatures for the lower case.

The Lilac (or Syringa vulgaris), a slightly vigorous plant, gives a nice colour to the place where its located, well maintained from one season to another and even when not in flower, the colour of its foliage and compact form makes it attractive enough. Lila Pro was created on the coast of Andalucía, inspired by its vibrant colour’s contrasts, and lush climate. This new script has all the advantages of OpenType technology that allows a variety of combinations: standard ligatures, contextual alternates, discretional ligatures, word ending and tails. Specially designed for creating logos for products and packaging, this font can also be used as body text for its good legibility and accurate kerning.

A Roman typeface with emphasized triangular serifs. A font like this one could have been designed in 18th century France. To some extent, Auxerre is a precursor of “Etienne,” which later became popular as an advertising typeface of the 19th century. Auxerre is available in five font weights: light, regular, semibold, bold and black. Auxerre supports Western and Central European languages including Scandinavian languages. Plus, the font includes lots of ligatures, tabular figures as well as a “Capital German Double S.” Auxerre fits perfectly with any topic related to the past two centuries. It also works amazingly well on technical issues. And of course it fits very well with topics of fine art and art history.

The Octa fonts are primarily intended for heading, display and decorative use. A close relative to Alert, Octa is angular by its structure but soft-outlined typeface with modern industrial strength expression. Nimbus Sans ME is the expansion within the Nimbus Sans family for the Middle East range: Arabic (incl. Farsi) and Hebrew. Volker Schnebel has designed both scripts, which each include five upright and five cursive styles. The design is contemporary and fits the Latin Nimbus Sans. KubaApplique is a bold and exciting African font that makes use of the interplay of black and white shapes -- reminiscent of the Kuba cloths that are made and used by the Bakuba tribe. Typified by a balance between dark and light areas, the characters reflect the ethos of Africa. Kuba applique contains the full range of upper and lower case characters, all punctuation and special characters as well as the accented characters used in the major European languages. Because the way in which the individual letters fit together is so important in Kuba Applique, I took especial care of the kerning and spacing of characters. Stencil Patterns JNL collects into one digital file a number of decorative stencil patterns from decades past. These charming illustrations were re-drawn by Jeff Levine using images of vintage oilboard stencils made over fifty years ago. While these are useful as stand-alone embellishments for any print projects, they can also be scaled and printed out onto card or acetate stock for hand-cutting as new stencil templates. A special note of thanks goes to fellow type designer and author, Leslie Cabarga. He supplied the bulk of the images used in designing this font file. There are left and right pointing hands on the parenthesis keys, and a decorative ampersand on its respective key.
