Kettering 105 is inspired by the classic, geometric slab-serifs such as Lubalin, but has shallower ascenders and descenders for a more compact look. It includes old style non-aligning (lower case) numbers, both proportional and tabular, as well as accented characters for Central European languages. Terrified AOE was inspired by vintage horror movie poster titling from the 1960's. It is a Capitals and smallcaps typeface, that really feels like a mix of three typefaces in one. While the Capitals and Smallcaps typesetting works to the effect of the original inspirations, each case also works well amongst itself independently, and having very different vibes. I've always been a huge fan of horror movies, and some of the lettering from vintage horror movie posters are so cool and alive, I only wish there were more of them recreated as display fonts.

Sleepy time… Ah, if only your kids would go to bed, close their eyes and drift off to sleep. This font was created when my son had some problems falling asleep: he'd cry, he wanted to sleep in a different bed, he wanted a different animal friend (he has Tij - a tiger, Meh - a sheep, Rafi - a giraffe, Moo - a cow, Woofy - a dog, Kikker - a frog). Sleepy Time font is an all caps typeface with uneven letters and a very different upper and lower case. It comes with all languages, including Cyrillic!

Eurostile, created in 1962 by Aldo Novarese for the Nebbiolo type foundry, is one of the most popular sans serif fonts of all, and has been for about 50 years. Originally designed as a screen font it was very popular from the beginning, even though it is only a slightly modified version of the 10-year-older Microgramma, but completed with lower case characters. On public demand, URW++ has expanded its range of Eurostile with Eurostile Round with 19 additional styles. Quite like Futura Round by URW++, Eurostile Round works perfectly well as webfont.

One of the odder things I remember from high school (50+ years ago) is the tile floor of hexagons in the bathroom. There is something fascinating with the way hexagons fill the plane. BakerHalfDozen is made of white letters that fit on black, hexagonal tiles. BakerHalfWhite switches the letters to black on white tiles, and BakerHalfBare eliminates the tiles. There are no true lower-case letters, but some letters have alternate shapes. To make the tiles line up right, alternate lines must be indented half a space. Use the {} characters (brackets) to do this.

ITC Cushing has a long history. The typeface was originally designed by J. Stearns Cushing, a Boston-based book printer, and famous American type designer Frederic Goudy expanded it to include an italic weight. Under a special license from the American Type Founders, Vincent Pacella modified the design for ITC and added some additional weights. ITC Cushing is slightly condensed with large, bracketed serifs. Pacella changed the capital letters to better complement the lower case and replaced the sloping serifs of the italics to linear type serifs to produce ITC Cushing.

The rustic lettering which also served as the model for Grist Mill JNL is the basis for Gristwood JNL. Another set of vintage wood type has the letters reversed out of blocks, making for a specialty titling font. Decorative end caps are located on the greater and less than keys and also on the plus and equal keys. A blank block for regular word spacing is on the underscore key, along with a wider blank box on the backslash key. This typeface has a somewhat limited character set.

Cinnabar Brush is a font named after a mineral - mercury sulfide to be precise. I quite like the name and the color, so naming a font after it made sense. Cinnabar Brush is a very bold, very outspoken brush font. It is all caps, but upper and lower case glyphs differ and can be mixed. It is a bit on the heavy side, so I wouldn't set a text in it. The hand-lettered title, cast and crew credits for 1943's "Presenting Lily Mars" (starring Judy Garland and Van Heflin) inspired Pocatello JNL, but the name of this typeface has another Judy Garland connection. In the 1954 remake of "A Star is Born", Judy sings of being born in a trunk in a theater located in Pocatello, Idaho. The name of this Midwest town had such a great sound to it, so it was the perfect choice for the font's name. Available in regular, oblique, bold and bold oblique versions.

Usually I prefer desserts that aren't overly sweet, but a week ago I lost my sense of tasting - due to Corona, and when I wanted something sweet...I preferred it overly sweet...of course because I hardly could taste the overwhelming sweetness! But now, I have my sense of tasting (and smelling!) back, and everything is back to normal. And since I completed this easy-recipe-inspired handmade font while suffering from Corona, I thought I'd name it Overly Sweet. And...well. because, the font is somewhat overly sweet (without being over the top sweet!)

ITC Binary was designed by Mauricio Reyes in 1997 as a semiserif font with a pronounced stroke contrast. A distinguishing characteristic of this font is that many of the lower case letters seem to be missing a small piece of their forms, either at the base line or x-height. A rather narrow and compact design, Monotype Clearface combines both old style and antique characteristics. The lowercase letters are tall, the ascenders and descenders quite short.
