Giambattista Bodoni of Parma designed and cut his typefaces circa 1790. The Bodoni types were the first of the Modern type designs in which hairlines contrast sharply with bolder stems, and serifs are unbracketed. The Bauer Bodoni font family derives from a cutting for metal type in 1926, retaining many of the original features. As with all versions of this typeface, the contrast between thick and thin strokes of Bauer Bodoni should be taken into consideration as the thin strokes can appear to fade out under certain printing processes.

In 2002 Matthew Carter was commissioned to create a new design to be cut in wood by the then nascent Hamilton Wood Type Museum. This was significant in that this was the one format for which Carter had not yet designed type. The new design emerged as a two-part chromatic type to be cut specifically in wood. Originally called Carter Latin, the font was renamed Van Lanen after one of the Museum's founders. The first cutting and printing of the type took place in late 2009 and although it has been available through the Museum, contemporary wood-type production is expensive and few have acquired this font in wood. The digital version of the pair of Van Lanen fonts is now available. The design recalls Antique Latin wood type, but with a refined sensibility and intentional quirks (like the sideways ampersand). It is a wonderful addition to Carter's oeuvre, and to the ongoing history of wood type.

They have been part of the culture of the Porteños (inhabitants of Buenos Aires) since the beginnings of the 20th century. One of the most highlighted and recognized artists nowadays is Alfredo Genovese, who does a great job of teaching and claim this art and craft. The name Caminito reminds the emblematic and iconic Buenos Aires neighborhood immortalized by Carlos Gardel in music, in the tango.

Escuela typeface is born in an attempt to reflect so many current influences of modern grotesque fonts that are trying to better reflect the values of today's world. BMX Radical is inspired by the titles of the cult 1980s BMX movie "Rad". The characters R, A and D were designed after this, with the rest of the character set being completely made up. The font is uppercase only, but with two different alphabets. In OpenType-capable applications, engaging contextual alternates will make the alphabets automatically switch between each other, meaning double letter combinations always contain two different glyphs to give the text a much more handmade feel. It is a very versatile brush font. It can look cheesy and retro in bright colors with outlines or gritty and modern in more muted palettes.
