“The Film Daily” issue for August 30, 1927 ran an ad for Tiffany Pictures in which all of the main text was hand lettered in a sans serif style displaying the beginnings of the Art Deco movement. With their rounded terminals, the characters were designed using a round nib lettering pen. Redrawn digitally as Silent Cinema JNL, it is now available in both regular and oblique versions.

Twentieth Century Poster, designed by Sol Hess for Lanston Monotype in the 1940s, provided the inspiration for this family of faces. Although, historically, the design falls outside the time period normally considered the Art Deco era, its sensibilities are pure Art Moderne. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Lusta plays with the interchangeability of an inline and an outline, negative and positive space. Often one single character will epitomise the design of a font, and here the S served as the conceptual starting point. The inline/outline was then applied to sans and serif variants, and extended into a multi-line prisma and an offset layered shadow version, probably inspired by Face Photosetting’s Stack.

P22 Sneaky is the newest font by award winning type designer Michael Clark. Sneaky is a connecting-script and sibling of his popular Pooper Black type which shares a similar flow and casual elegance. A postcard for a 1952 DeSoto automobile, combined with the (non)sensibilities of legendary British lettering artist Cecil Wade, yielded this slightly tacky and thoroughly wacky gaggle of letters. Use liberally whenever levity, brevity (the soul of wit), or a bit of mischief is called for. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin and 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan) character sets.

When creating the font, I was inspired by the various names of musical groups and sci-fi movies. I took the hourglass shape as a basis and added various serifs to it, hence the name of my font appeared - Klepsydra, as in the Greek hourglass. This style has an abbreviation - "Z". I will develop this font family and will add new styles, as well as characters.

German type designer Ingrid Liche created this script FontFont in 1995. Eckmannschrift is a redrawing based on original sketches and type specimens of the original 1900 Otto Eckmann typeface Eckmannschrift. It includes the original characters designed by Otto Eckmann not included in most modern releases of the font. Though it is a vintage typeface, it has found several popular resurgences of use over its 100 years in existence, including today's retro styles and psychedelic posters from the 1960s.

This delightful dervish is based on handlettering from a 1928 poster for a steamship line by renowned British artist Austin Cooper. It’s essentially a monocase font, with the exception of the letter A, which twirls in one direction in uppercase, and the opposite direction in lowercase. This font contains the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

This font was inspired by the so-called Litterarum latinarum, quas italicas, cursoriasque vocant, scribendum Ratio (Louvain 1540), a manual intended for calligraphers by the well known scientist Gerhard Mercator. It was a magnificent “Cancellaresca corsiva” design, enriched with many alternates, final loops and ligatures. We have added a lot of accented and other characters required for modern use that did not exist in the original.

Put the kettle on and break out the biscuits. This no-nonsense stencil face is a faithful recreation of Tea Chest, released by the Stephenson Blake Type Foundry in 1939. Its bold strokes and slender profile retain their freshness, even seventy-plus years on. Both versions include the complete Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets, as well as localization for Moldovan and Romanian.

The combination of some Bodoni extra-wide wood type letters and an image redrawn from a 1940s package label from the long-defunct Railway Express Agency form the characters in Letter Delivery JNL. Linotype Konflikt is part of the Take Type Library, which features winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest from 1994 to 1997. Designer Stefan Pott was inspired by the conflict between the appearance of a typeface in print and on a computer screen. Out of this conflict came a font in which every character has aspects of both flowing handwriting and angular pixel-like strokes.

The Weidemann typeface's original name was Biblica, which was designed for the collaborative publication of a Bible by the German Catholic and Protestant Churches. The mass of text which the face was intended to set required that the design allow many characters to fit onto one line without rendering the words illegible. Thus, narrow spacing does not compromise the legibility or the elegance of Weidemann.
