I was playing around with some brushes and ink, and out came Skulduggery. Use it for any project you can apply the term ‘skulduggery’ to. Or not. Whatever.

G&G is the only authorized digitized version of the original handlettering of early 20th Century architects Charles and Henry Greene. This font is both accurate and authentic -- it was adapted directly from the Greenes' original plans for The Gamble House in Pasadena, California, and others. G&G contains both Upper and Lower-case characters, consistent with the Greenes' use of lower-case to explain fine construction details on their plans. The script equivalent of the cool, header font. This font is essentially embedded, by its styling, in the 20th century. Inspired by fragments of some pre-20th century script fonts, I modernized it and added lower case characters. The result captures the cool elegance of the 1920s & 30s, yet also embodies the free optimism of the 60s. Aqua Casual is a fully professional font, carefully letterspaced and kerned. All upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals and accented characters are present.

Humboldt is an ultra fat headline face. How bold can you go? Humboldt is an experiment to push the boundaries of character recognition: Its forms are extremely bloated yet highly distinctive. Open type savvy features provide an unexpected embellishment: small capitals, both lower case and upper case figures and several alternate glyphs are intrinsic in the design. Humboldt makes nice headlines and striking poster typography or logotypes. It can to some extent be used for setting even short phrases of text.

On the very northern edge of South Tucson lies an Old Pueblo institution, Le Caves Bakery, Home of the Vegetable Donut. That’s what they were called when Le Caves opened; now you’d say Vegan Donut, or No Animal Products Used. Radical concept in the Brave New World of 1935. I started with the letters from their sign and extrapolated the rest of the font from those. Deco Donut Fat is extrapolated from Deco Donut. If you want a donut, type a 0 (zero).

Trinculo is a cursive font which combines traditional letter forms with ridiculously ornate embellishments and flourishes. It's rather like what an 18th century clerk might have done with his lettering if he was bored to distraction with writing the same old letters again and again. The upper case characters are more complex with simpler versions of the same characters in the lower case. Trinculo is a lot of fun, though if you use it too much it may become overwhelming.

Patent Reclame manages to be light-hearted, while clearly showing its blackletter roots both in the shape of the individual letters and the rhythm of text on a page. The designer is unknown. Schriftgeisserei Flinsch of Frankfurt a.M. cast the face around 1895. Nicolete Gray shows a quite similar face called “Graphic,” from Stephenson Blake in 1896. Personally, I don't think that Patent Reclame looks like an English design, but I do not have any proof one way or the other. The numbers are proportional, intended for posters, not spreadsheets. Two ornaments are included, an art nouveau rose at #172 and a lilypad with long tendril at #177. Great for invitations, posters and flyers announcing fun events. Do not use for obituaries. Quite readable in smaller sizes for short blocks of text. I really like the buoyant quality -- a nice combination of discipline and enthusiasm.

Nobody Home JNL is unusual in nature as it combines two vintage typestyles into one font. Both have been used for home and property identification for decades and still remain popular. Over the years the letters and numbers have been made of cast steel, aluminum, brass and plastic. The alphabet is in a distinctly bold, asymmetrical style, while the numbers almost take on a calligraphic feel. There is just a basic character set - alphabet, numerals and simple punctuation. While the font has been reasonably spaced and kerned, it's best to remember that neither type design was made with digital technology in mind, so it's suggested to adjust your layout manually for optimum results. Nobody Home JNL is best-suited for replicating street addresses, apartment numbers on doors, and homeowner (or apartment house) names on buildings - whether in print design or as plotter-cut vinyl graphics.

Jokerman is the work of British designer Andrew Smith. It is a wild and energetic font that is effective when set in all caps, or as mixture of caps and lowercase. Included are a number of alternate letters and funky forms. Jokerman is a fanciful display font that exudes excitement and vitality.

From the title screens and comic books of the Hair Bear Bunch comes the fun and funky Wonderbear typeface. All that 70’s flavor packed into a Caps/Alt Caps typestyle reminiscent of a lovable limited run cartoon show. The Hair Bears miss you as much as you miss them. Relive the laughter.

Do you like fat fonts? Well here is a free one from me. Regular & Italic both free. Fat is a caps only font. Because of that if you type something with caps on, as you can see is typing in Greek I decide to make it like this since there no lowercase letters.

Billboard is a swinging family of six fonts. The all-caps letters are soft and round but the letter shapes will keep your layout in order. The font has class-based kerning and automatic OpenType ligatures. To access the ligatures you only need to use an OpenType-aware application and write in CAPS.

As the name implies, this font was made with a gritty pencil. Gritty Pencil comes with language support and a set of cool alternates for the lower case letters.

Spray stencil Hogwild uses the OpenType ligature feature to substitute a unique pair of distressed characters when any upper or lower case letter is keyed twice in a row.

P22 Stanyan Autumn is a set of three fonts based upon a casual hand lettering text created for the deluxe 1969 edition of "...and autumn came" by Rod McKuen.

Dreamland is a bold, top-heavy style inspired by mid-20th century poster lettering. It has a lower case and is quite informal. Featured in: Best Fonts for Logos

PL Fiedler Gothic Bold is a display sans serif designed by Hal Fiedler. The distinguishing characters in the PL Fiedler Gothic Bold font are lower case q and t.

Buddy is the new companion sans for Contenu, the book font family designed for my book on font design design. Originally, I called it Compagnon, but that seemed to pompous. Then I called it Aide, but that was too formal and dry. It's a loose, free, easy to read sans, so when my wife suggested Buddy, it clicked. This is the 4-font Buddy family of Regular, Italic, Bold, & Bold Italic. I made a new, more limited feature set for these fonts due to their designed usage, but there are still small caps, small cap figures, oldstyle figures, numerators, and denominators. The bold is closer to a black, and the italics are only slightly slanted obliques. If you need a strong black in caps, use the small caps of the bold.

Book Jacket is arguably the most famous of all typefaces done in the Typositor era. Designed by Ursula Suess over an entire year, and published in 1972, Book Jacket became an instant success story that lasted well into the 1980s (even though it was copied by Phil Martin who published it under the name Bagatelle shortly after its release). An offbeat alternate caps typestyle inspired by the title screen of a 1968 Walt Disney film titled, The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit. This playful and childish font comes with an extensive language set, a stylistic alternates feature that auto-alternates between capitals & lowercase (alt caps), as well as a contextual alternates feature that auto-alternates between sets only where double characters are typed like SS, TT, etc. The contextual alternate feature also enables a few titling word options like " the " " in " and " in the ".
