Twentieth Century was designed for the cover of 20th Century French Poetry and was drawn with pure geometric shapes. Vegetability: “The quality or state of being vegetable”. Yes, I know: it’s kinda weird, but I quite like the name of this font! I am trying to become a vegetarian (I am a ‘flexitarian’ right now) and I was trying to find a good veggie recipe for dinner, when this name crossed my mind. Vegetability is a handwritten font with a dash of roughness, a splash of attitude and a pinch of class. Comes with a whole bunch of diacritics and double letter ligatures for the lower case letters.

Plakato, a stencil love affair Plakato is a family of display fonts, consisting of various eye-catching styles, each of them very bold. Journal Hand was inspired by a 45-year-old travel diary I bought at an estate sale. The carefully constructed all-uppercase letters indicated that this traveler cared about style and legibility. Each picture, postcard and brochure that was glued into the diary had a neatly written caption and I admired the care this day tripper took to record his European trek. While the pages are now yellowed and falling apart, the handwriting is still legible and stylish. Because his handwriting totally suits today's uses, I re-created it in modern journalistic style that looks like it was written with a technical pen. Use this typeface when you need a neatly handwritten style. Uppercase only!

RensGazet is a decorative blackletter typeface with elaborate upper-case letters and condensed lower-case characters. It was inspired by the masthead of a short-lived weekly newspaper, The Rensselaer Gazette, which was published from 1857 until 1860. I could not find any existing digitized fonts that replicated this old typeface, so I decided to create an interpretation of it. I had samples of few letters in large point sizes and a number of others at a small point size, though these were blurry and not sharply defined. As a result, this typeface is undoubtedly considerably different from the original. Also, my spacing is much tighter than that in the source samples.

The idea for Terra Ignota came to me years ago as I was admiring a reproduction of "Amerique Septentrionale," a 1650 map by French cartographer Nicolas Sanson, given to me by my parents. The handlettering has a sort of rakish character, evocative of pirates or adventurers at a time of unbridled world exploration. I ended up putting the project aside, but the idea to create this font tugged gently at my mind until I simply couldn't ignore it any longer. The resulting typeface has an italic slant and a deliberate feel, in keeping with its historical roots. Useful for simulating old hand-lettered documents. Has a full character set (and then some).

I don't know what other typedesigners call those long swirling embellishment, but I call them "Monkeytails". So when I decided on this version of my good old Royal Bavarian, I decided to call the new font "Monkeytails". I just fell in love with this name. The designer of ITC Medea , Silvio Napoleone said: “I've always had an interest in early letter shapes, particularly how they influenced modern typographic designs. While I was on vacation in Greece, I had a chance to see, first-hand, examples of early letterforms and typography. They really made an impression on me.” The idea of combining the ancient and the modern to create something new was the primary inspiration behind ITC Medea. ITC Medea is essentially a careful blending of the modern sans serif with the elegant forms of the uncial. At first glance, Medea appears to be constructed of geometric shapes. However, closer inspection reveals many calligraphic subtleties. Stroke terminals are flared slightly in characters like the 'e' and 'c.' The top curve of the 'd' is more pronounced than the bottom, and characters like the 'o' are elliptical rather than round. “I gravitated towards the simplicity and legibility of the uncial and half-uncial,” Napoleone recalls. “I thought it would make a great titling font, and I was surprised at how attractive ITC Medea looked in a body text.”

In smaller point sizes, FF Info Display cuts a fine figure when used to set longer texts. So Spiekermann carefully reworked FF Info Display to produce FF Info Text, a font perfected for use in this context. Not only can the characters be more generously proportioned, certain features, such as additional serifs to aid with the differentiation of problematic letters, are also no longer necessary in textual surroundings. The upright styles have a double-story "g" while Spiekermann has added oldstyle figures and small caps. FF Info Correspondence FF Info Correspondence has also been designed for setting block text although it recalls the style of old typewriter characters and is specifically intended for use in office communication. The characters of this third member of the family are thus more formal, without rounded terminals but with rectangular punctuation marks. The narrower letters are provided with large serifs to give them more space although, at the same time, this reduces the differences in terms of letter width among the alphabet. So I made Smithens Villa Script, sort of classic decorative with a modern twist. It is a display font meant for vintage logos, fashion labels, custom cards headers, badges, food packaging designs, as there are a lot of fancy letter connections. Hobi was influenced by Spaza. In it I tried to highlight the dissonance between the irregular outlines of the characters and the formality suggested by the serifs of the characters. Differences from Spaza are: -- character heights from the baseline; -- the presence of serifs; and -- variations in the character outlines to accomodate the different balance that the characters require in terms of the presence of serifs. Hobi is loose, funky and quite contemporary. The font can be used with great effect in a great variety of applications such as advertisements, flyers, posters, magazine pages and in movie credits. Hobi contains a full character set with all upper and lower case characters, numerals, symbols, accented characters and it has been carefully spaced and kerned.

1776 Independence was designed inspired mainly from the Caslon typeface used by John Dunlap in the night of 1776 July 4th in Philadelphia to print the first 200 sheets of the Congress' Declaration of Independence establishing the United States of America. I just added accented letters and a few others, with respect for the original design. A render sheet,enclosed with font file, help to identify them on keyboard. It can be used as web-site titles, posters and fliers, editing ancient texts, menus or greeting cards as a very decorative font...
