“Kamenica” - named after a beautiful small mountain river in Serbia - is a font family containing 3 weights: Light, Regular and Bold. The Kamenica river is only a few meters wide. Mostly shallow and cold, clear and green, it was the direct inspiration source for the creation of this condensed typeface. As our other typefaces, “Kamenica” also combines traditional shapes with modern forms, tall x-height and a collection of more than 300 glyphs. Comparing the river with the font, we could say that letters are the fishes that lives in the Kamenica river and that the font weights are the seasons in which this river shows most of its own character.

Railhead is a revival of an 1870s type style that was originally available from both the Bruce foundry in New York and James Conner's Sons type foundry. The Redux version is the original design but only the uppercase and punctuation were ever created the rest of this font design including numbers, accented characters and lowercase are of my own design. Looking at the original font the inside rails reminded me of a railroad so I created a new version by adding horizontal lines in the lower portion of each letter which resemble railroad ties and Railhead seemed to be the most logical name for this old revival.

This one may look rather strange at a first sight, but it has the true power of coolify written pieces. (Please don’t use it to say “Attorneys’s Conference”, nor “Annual Statement of Accounts”, unless you mean them to be cool, which is very unlikely.) Emil Bertell's Bayamo is a contemporary, digital take on the brush script tradition. It echoes the loose forms and energetic personality of sign painted letters, tapping into the current nostalgia for hand-drawn type. “I think most script fonts nowadays are either some kind of modern calligraphy, or synthetic/mechanical scripts,” says Bertell. “This one leans more towards a classic American sign painting tradition.” Contextual alternates ensure that lowercase characters change depending what's next to them, mimicking the more varied word shapes created by sign writers. Well suited for branding projects, packaging and headlines, Bayamo also pairs well with strong sans serif, and other typefaces with angular forms.

Stefan Claudius developed this font while he was sitting in a small chalet in Denmark with a hot wood-oven and nothing but snow outside. Probably the amount of white led him to make it so thin and to have as much space between the lines as possible. If you have that in mind, it looks best in large sizes.

Rudolf typeface was designed on the basis of medals made by author's grandfather, the sculptor Rudolf Rogatty. He used lettering that was very typical of monuments, medals and commemorative plaques during communist times in Poland, which can still be seen today in any Polish city. These letters are beautiful for their imperfection and they have very strictly defined rules governing their structure.

Cool Crayon is a nice typeface I created with the black crayola from my 3 year old son's crayola box. It was broken (because he tends to throw them around), but I managed to get the glyphs onto a sheet of paper. Cool Crayon is similar to Crayon Crumble, but is rounder and thicker. Cool Crayon comes with extensive language support.

Frutiger Capitalis Regular and Outline belong to the group of typefaces for the Linotype’s Type Before Gutenberg project. However, they are not based on direct historical sources. At first glance, they may seem related to the roman type Capitalis Monumentalis, but upon closer examination, the fonts reveal a vitality unknown to the characters the Romans etched in stone. Frutiger confesses that creating Capitalis was “a liberation”. After working on so many sophisticated and meticulously designed typefaces, Frutiger Capitalis was a breath of fresh air. Stylistically, Frutiger Capitalis Outline forms a bridge to Frutiger Capitalis Signs, a whole universe of its own. Frutiger Capitalis Signs is a personal cosmos of symbols, many are immediately “legible”, others leave room for interpretation. Some of the symbols are the product of Frutiger’s imagination, such as his “Life Signs” — soft, hand drawn figures whose lines have no apparent beginning or end, creating both interior and exterior spaces, new forms emerging at each glance. These contoured drawings have accompanied Frutiger throughout his professional life, a fantasy garden which has provided an important balance to his many years of disciplined typeface design. Yet he does not consider himself an artist. Frutiger says he simply “wants to tell stories, to draw thin lines, create contours of signs; that is my style”.

The Sync font family is a layered system for chromatic typesetting. With its stylistic variety it enables a wide range of eye-catching combinations with colors and patterns. The very first sketches were inspired by some hand-painted characters on a weathered beach sign at the French Côte d’Argent and currently the font family comes with a total of 28 single fonts. The primary font »Sync Base« is a powerful, condensed Sans Serif. Sharp cut edges, narrow wedge-shaped counters and low ascenders and descenders make the compact character of the typeface. In perfect sync with the primary font, the family includes the retro styles Lines, Engravings, Stripes and Shadows and the texture styles Invisible and Jungle. Each one of them with multiple fonts. Frederic Goudy designed National Old Style Roman in 1916. It is loosely based on a logo he lettered for the National Biscuit Company in 1901. Steve Matteson expanded on Goudy’s original by designing a bold, semibold and matching italics. While much of Goudy’s work is strongly influenced by Venetian types of the 15th and 16th centuries - this design has a truly American quality about it. The design is useful for text or headlines that captures a sense of Americana.

This font was originally called Mozaik. The lowercase postion has a few alternate characters in place of the basic ones.

Andrade is a new typeface designed by Dino dos Santos in 2005. This typeface was inspired in the typographic work of Manoel de Andrade de Figueiredo (b.1670-d.1735), Nova Escola para Aprender a Ler, Escrever e Contar, printed in 1722 at Offcina de Bernardo da Costa de Carvalho. This is one of the most important books, and almost forgotten, about Portuguese calligraphy and typography, and the work of Andrade de Figueiredo is among the most amazing examples of type design of the Eighteenth Century. His work inspired Ventura da Silva, a Portuguese typographer, who in 1803 published a book named Regras Methodicas, where he redesigns some of Figueiredo's type specimens. But Ventura's purpose was to create a more elegant and readable typeface than Didot and Bodoni. This kind of typeface used to be called leitura and is a transition between the baroque and modern typography. Andrade is a brilliant text typeface and is available in Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, Ligatures, Ligatures Italic, Swashes and Ornaments. Andrade is my tribute to Portuguese typography and to the work of Manoel de Andrade de Figueiredo in particular.

In the 1959 premiere season of “The Untouchables” (based on the book by Eliot Ness and Oscar Fraley) the opening title jumps off of the cover of the book and stretches out into tall, extremely condensed lettering. This inspired the type font Federal Agent JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Evening Edition JNL pays tribute to the ever-decreasing line of daily newspapers in this country by emulating the "wood type" look of the headlines. Way before the Internet took over as a popular information source, it was the morning, afternoon or evening edition of a paper that presented the big story of the day.

MedicineShelf has old-fashioned looking letters on old-fashioned looking bottles. The letters are taken from the typeface NeuAltisch . The MedicineShelf-Blank and MedicineShelf-Outline styles can be used in layers with the base MedicineShelf font to increase the coloring possible with this typeface.

Negen is the dutch word for the number nine. This big and bold font is based on a 9 connected squares, hence the name negen. The squares not used in the characters are left in place so there is almost no space in between.

Like the study of Kremlinology, this font is an interpretation of Soviet culture for Western audiences. Based on a vintage Russian poster but not in the original Cyrillic, it is an attempt to capture the feel of the era if not the actual characters.

A vintage look layered label font named "Quick or Dead". This font was inspired by American wild west history. The family includes six styles (including effect styles), for sample look at preview. This font will good viewed on any retro design like poster, t-shirt, label, logo etc. For using effects layers: - Type your text in Regular. - Copy that and paste at the same position. - Change the style to Shadow or Texture. Alternates and catchwords: - Capital letters are different than small (look to the preview). - Several small letters have alternates (look to the preview). - For the catchwords type the word (for sample 'with'), select that and turn on 'Discretionary Ligatures' on the 'OpenType' tab. Or paste it from 'Glyphs' tab in any place on your text. This in Illustrator. In Photoshop 'Discretionary Ligatures' you can find in the menu Type - OpenType.

SAV Display PT is directly inspired from hand-painted commercial signage found around Savannah, Georgia. There is a strong tradition of hand-painted signs adorning small car wash stations, to beauty salons, to mechanics and restaurants. Currently a collection of about four to five painters account for the majority of the signs. This font was derived from 10 uppercase letters that seemed to represent the aesthetic thread found throughout the signs. There are no lowercase letters found in these signs, so the lowercase of the font had to be designed from scratch. I felt this added versatility to the font and its possibilities for usage. This font is strictly a display font. However, because of the apparent roots (intended or unintended) of the lettering to transitional/modern modulated fonts, it does read surprising well at smaller sizes.
