Bayside Tavern is a weathered version of our Tavern Alt font family. With its straight sides Bayside Tavern fits better in tight spaces and reads better at smaller point sizes than the regular Bay Tavern version. With three weights, open faced and outline versions to choose from you're sure to find the right style for your new project, restaurant menu, logo, t-shirt design or Pirate costume party. While our original Tavern Alt font has been increased to include five weights additional weights for Bay Tavern will have to wait for now, adding the notched cut in's were all done by hand which causes a lot of cramping so a long break is needed before creating the extra weights. Nova Caere is a typical urban calligraphy, gestural with its fast lines, with short and slightly noticeable ascender and descender traits. Condensed lower case and rounded capital letters are quite similar in height. Nova Caere has been studied for alternating upper and lower case inside the words of the text, so as to reinforce their expressive content. Stylistic variations that combine particular couples of letters have been developed, as well as some descender traits have been highlighted that can be employed to characterize words and phrases.

Cross Stitch Coarse is based on upper case characters 5 stitches tall and contains the upper case characters A-Z, numbers 0-9, ampersand, exclamation and question marks, comma, and period. Also, under the character set are all possible combinations of stitches 5 high from 1 through 5, which allows for the creation of custom glyphs. If the font is set at solid leading, lines following will align and mesh with stitches above. When setting lines of copy, extra leading is required to separate individual lines.

The inspiration for SJURecord was calligraphic lettering used for the title of a student newspaper, St. John’s Record, during the late 1920s and early 1930s. The three upper-case and nine lower-case letters were considerably different from any calligraphic lettering I had developed, so I thought creating a complete typeface around these twelve letters would be an interesting challenge. The SJCRecord family has four members: regular, oblique, shadowed, and oblique shadowed. There are alternate letters for A, J, L, S, V, W, and X.

Arabesque is a romantic, ornamental font, in which intertwining, flowing lines and generous loops enhance the beauty of the basic shapes. Arabesque successfully combines legibility with a decorative, sumptuous style. In its European interpretation it was also called "Moresque". The font "Ability" was the origin of Arabesque, however, numerous, subtle changes set it apart. Arabesque, is characterised by a small x-height and relatively large ascenders and descenders (loops). The loops are created out of two or three delicate, intertwined lines that contrast with the much less expansive bowls and shapes of the lowercase letters. The capitals, more complex and composed of intertwined lines, echo the elegance of the loops on the lowercase letters. As a result of these changes "Arabesque" is both more readable, controlled and extravagant than "Ability". This family was created inspired from two French (one so common and a very rare large one) "toy print" boxes, named Le petit imprimeur, with rubber stamp characters from the 1920's. The big difference from our 1920 My Toy print is that this font is complete, with upper and lower cases, accented, complete punctuation and some symbols. The doubly of each usual character in each style (A-Z/a-z and numerals) allow to give a rich and variously uneven appearance, looking like the results of the real use of those old rubber stamps, with bad kernings and alignement. The font is containing West (including Celtic), Central, East European, Turkish and Cyrillic characters. The bold style may be used as a reinforcement, mixed with normal style without disadvantage, allowing finally four choices for each usual letter... The original size is 6mm (about 17 pts).

The name "Smart Casual" says it all. This is the font to use when you want to create that smart impression without being too formal. It is based on the font "Black Tie" but it is less formal than "Black Tie". It conveys an impression of relaxed elegance without being either sloppy or too intimate. Smart Casual is ideal for invitations to stylish but relaxed events, for advertisements that are intended to create that special ambience, for posters and for announcements. Smart Casual has a full character set and has been carefully letter-spaced and kerned. It comes in two styles: Baseline and Staggered. In "Baseline" all characters refer to the same baseline (the lower part of the characters are in line), while in "Staggered" the capitals are placed lower than the lower case characters, creating a slightly more dramatic, yet formal and retro look.

One of my earliest memories of being able to write - an exciting skill - was of writing with my finger in the fine soft sea sand. I remember the freedom - I had no fear of making mistakes, of smudging ink or of doing anything wrong - and the ease with which I could write or wipe out any thing in the sand. Designing SandWriting was a tribute to those early memories. The font was an attempt to capture the simplicity and ease of a finger effortlessly making its mark in the sand. It can be used in many ways: in menus and invitations, in newsletters and advertisements, and in scrapbooks and brochures. It might be particularly useful for written material aimed at younger people. SandWriting contains all upper and lower case characters, all punctuation and special characters as well as all accented and standard European characters.

So the lumber was cheap - just a pile of offcuts - and so was the carpenter… And you couldn't say he was exactly lazy, but he was certainly efficient… mostly he would just cut a couple of planks to size, slice off a corner now and then, once in a blue moon hash up a curve… I guess he didn't have a drill, cos there are no holes… and he sure as hell didn't have a ruler… But he did have some kind of an eye, and until it falls off the wall it'll look pretty OK… Ply comes in six styles, offering differing degrees of neatness and adorned or not with fixings… There are money-saving packages too… It’s uppercase only, with variations between upper and lower case, and OpenType types can switch on Stylistic Set 1 to take the effort out of keeping things varied…

A typeface for telling stories. After seven years through which Rodrigo Saiani worked on Dupincel, Plau’s team still had months of dedication until found a good way of summing up this typeface. All this effort was rewarded, though, when we came up with a motif that gave Dupincel the grandiosity it deserves. Telling stories is this typeface’s gift because it has the emotion for it, resources for it and the breadth for it. Like all that wasn’t enough, it has the scale for it: optical sizes Small, Medium and Large make Dupincel optimized for stories of every length. From short stories displayed big or long stories on small letters. We don’t want to dictate the types of stories either, anything goes. But if ornaments make a good fit with that story, we will be even more thrilled. In the end, Dupincel makes us want to find new stories to tell.

When I released Halogen, I asked ‘Who doesn't want or need an expansive contemporary extended sans that has a sense of style and swagger… what if it had a lowercase, small caps and various numeral options… how could you say no?’ Go, click on the Halogen link and read on, if you're interested. Halogen was well-received, so I decided to take it further with Halogen Flare (the name kinda tips you off as to what kind of typeface it is, don't ya think?). As always, I prefer not to take short cuts and provide an anemic offering of glyphs — a modern typeface offered today must provide more than just the basics and this one does — lowercase, smallcaps, old style numerals, tabular forms, stylistic and titling alternates, fractions, case-sensitive features, and even an alternate uppercase ordinal set is included.
