Can noise be a beautiful sound? Well, I guess...because the other day when I was playing the good old Bleach album by Nirvana (which I consider lovely grunge music!) my wife yelled "Could you stop that noise?!" - and I answered "What noise?!" - ha-ha-ha! Anyway, I finished this font while listening to that particular lovely noise, and I knew that this crunchy, grungy, handmade and full of contextual alternates and multilingual font had to be named something with the word "noise" in it!

There is a particular charm about traditional, hand executed sign writing. There is also something magical about watching an experienced sign writer at work with his sign writer's dagger (don't worry, it's a specially shaped paintbrush), watching the elegant lettering formed by deft brushstrokes. The Dewhirst family of five decorative faces is inspired by an elegant specimen of just such hand painted sign writing seen while I was out and about one day. Use this family of five faces to add a special touch of flair.

Harietta is a decorative, smooth font with rounded shapes and lot's of OpenType features. The Troyer AR ornaments are based on the first series of ornaments designed for American Type Founders by Johannes Troyer (1902-69). They were cast in 36 and 48 point in 1953 by ATF who said that they ‘mark a distinct and refreshing departure from the motif of earlier ornaments, and add a crisp touch to your finer printing’. Kenneth Day, in The Typography of Press Advertisement (1956), found them 'clean-cut and bright and clearly showing their calligraphic origins . . . useful for single decorative touches'.

Amazing Slab is a typeface family designed by Francesco Canovaro and Andrea Tartarelli as a development of the Amazing Grotesk family designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini. Mixing an egyptian serif, low contrast approach with the curved endings and open shapes of humanist sans grotesques, it was developed to embody the energetic and friendly nature of the startup scene: a feeling of innovation, information and energy, with a desire for simplicity and straightforward communication. Beautiful, richly ornamented shadowed letters in the Empire fashion, similar to the fonts of the Parisian type founder J. Gille', cut around 1810. Includes one set of A-Z ornamental initials conveniently assigned to both the upper and lower case alphabet characters.

Scripty is a hand drawn, calligraphy longhand handwritten font. With careful spacing, the letters can be used together to create words that look like theyπve been written with an old≠fashioned fountain pen, or used alone as embellishment to more plebean text.

A simplified blackletter designed by Peter Behrens, architect and graphic artist who came into prominence around 1900. Issued by Rudhard's Typefoundry, Offenbach A. M., this face was typical of many in the Jugendstil period. Its squarish look works well in Craftsman period layouts.

The brand marking on a vintage wooden shipping case for bottles of Mission Naturally Good Orange Soda inspired Beverage Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. Mission was a popular soda in California from about 1929 through 1970.

This began life as a European font that was copied in the United States by Bruce's Type Foundry in 1885. It was caps only and had a fine line "three-D" shadow. We scrapped the shadow, added a lower case, and voila!

Cabragio is a free-flowing informal font, very curvy and quite heavy. The free-flowing effect is especially apparent in the lower case letters, and this font is definitely something a bit different -- yet is highly readable and attractive. Original and distinctive!

Plumero is the wild, playful side of calligraphy. The disciplined elegance of old lettering is replaced with the fresh, joyful swashes of youth. Attractive and care-free, Plumero catches the eye and leaves its viewer with an indelible impression of its unmistakable signature.

This bold blackletter is rather wide, which enhances its readability. In Victorian job printing it was not unusual to find one line of blackletter in a card or handbill, just for contrast. This one came on the scene sometime in the 1880s.

A two version type family, Intimo One is a serif dot matrix typeface, letterforms made up of grid-based dots. Intimo Two is also made up of dots, but in this case the lines are curved, giving a softer, more organic feel.

Dolmen font from Max Salzmann revives the look of the 1920s and suggests all the glamour and culture of the jazz age. Dolmen can be used in all capital or upper and lower case settings and gives any work an Art Deco look.

«HAEGTOR» combines a kind of lettering with a calligraphic touch. Rafter is a new, sans font family, with modern, narrow line, graphically attractive with both upper and lower case letters. Spaced and mastered for optimal readability, Rafter plays well in a wide range of projects and applications. The typeface provides multilingual support.

Hayden Creek started as a few letters chosen from vibrant brush lettering. It evolved into a unique font that has an underlying movement with a wonderful energy. The jaunty kick-outs on some of the lower case letters are both fun and elegant.

Science Fair JNL emulates the effect of connecting the broken lines of a stencil alphabet into a solid letter form, such as many students did for posters on their science project. In this case, the base font was Jeff Levine's Paramilitary JNL.
