Nexa Slab is a geometric slab serif font whose design is based on the already popular best-seller Nexa . The font family contains 3 basic forms: italics, obliques and uprights, each of which has 8 different weights. It is also great for headings, fitting nicely with both small and large typesetting text blocks. Nexa Slab draws from the rich traditions of the classic Neo-Grotesque slab serif fonts such as Lubalin Graph, Rockwell and Memphis, which conceal the richness of typesetting text in its crucial advertising function. Scriptissimo is, as the name says, very much of a script! It is in the best American tradition. A script that could have served for writing the Constitution with, if only they would have had computers at that time. Scriptissimo consists of three different scripts that are meant to be used together. One is the script with the more or less plain characters. Two is the version for characters to start a word with. Three is the cut that has the characters for the end of a word. Ligatures is used for, well, ligatures and some glyphs like Ltd., GmbH, and so on. Scriptissimo is a very elegant and versatile script. A sheet music edition of an early 1900s song entitled "You Taught Me How to Love You, Now Teach Me to Forget" was hand lettered in a free-form Art Nouveau style that combined varying line widths and character shapes. This unrestricted style of lettering was popularly embraced and revived by the hippie counterculture of the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s through their rock concert posters, record album covers and tee shirt graphics. It is now available digitally as Nouveau Artiste JNL. As a side note, a 1940s reprint of the sheet music was done in a popular metal typeface, which was also redrawn digitally and available as Elite Resort JNL [in both regular and oblique versions].

Just like my previous typefaces, my new one, Smooth Buggaloo, also finds its roots in music. The Boogaloo was a popular music style in the 60s, a mixture of Latin and Rock and Roll music. Later Salsa took over this genre. Latin music represents a vibrant, lively and an uncontrollable need to move. In Smooth Buggaloo, you will recognize a swing, flair and a hint of seduction. But despite its vibrancy it can also be understood as a serious, simple and clean typeface. The characters vary between a handwritten and a designed look.
