Many current poster artists like to reference the graphic type styles that were popular in the ’60s and ’70s. Zaftig is a contemporary font that takes the geometric and blocky inspiration from that era but then steps off in a modern direction. At first glance, it may appear that the capitals of Zaftig all take up the same amount of space, but certain letters have been designed proportionally for a better flow. However, if the designer would prefer to stack the capital letters in even columns, like blocks, then one can use the Titling Alternates feature. Nevertheless the use of certain tools provokes a certain mechanism in the development of letter shapes. This is the starting point for the development of an easily reproducible sanserif with different contemporary writing tools. From non-typographical references of Prosaic towards readability innovation The influence of the tool is revealed in the letterforms: angular counterforms contrasting to the smoothed external shapes. This formal contrast gives to Prosaic a good legibility in small sizes. These internal angles indirectly influenced by the tool, open the counterforms. In the past, to deal with phototype limitations in typeface production, some foundries modified the final design by adding ink traps. In our high resolution digital world, these ink traps — now fashionable among some designers — have little or no effect when literally added to any design. Should one see in it a tribute to the previous limitations? Difficult to say. Starting from a reconstruction of them in order to re-structure new forms with the objective of designing a new typeface. Quidic is an unusual display typeface. The upper-case letters are strongly vertical, condensed, and bold. Used by themselves, they make headlines and titles that stand out. The lower case letters do not have serifs similar to those on the upper-case letters, but rather have the serif shapes one expects from an italic style. The lower-case is also quite short compared to the upper-case letters. The italic styles of the family are unusual because the lower-case letters keep their shapes and the upper-case letters and numbers change. The family has three styles that differ more by width rather than by weight. Although some Bauhaus fonts have several letter shapes that are similar, there is no other typeface quite like Quidic. Microgramma typeface designed by Alessandro Butti and Aldo Novarese for Nebiolo in 1952. Those typefaces were based on a stable rectangular shape with rounded corners, denoting the constructivist heritage and technological spirit of '50. We'd intended to review that typographic scenery with our contemporary point of view, aiming to obtain the formal synthesis of the signs and increase its legibility. Dignus fonts support Central, Eastern and Western European languages. Each font comes with full OpenType features like: standard and discretional ligatures, swashes, stylistic alternates, old style numerals, Tabular figures, numerators, denominators, scientific superior - inferiors, Case sensitive forms and vectors. The Dignus fonts include 7 weights, from Thin to ExtraBlack. The family is completed with condensed and expanded version all with their corresponding italics.
