Designed at Polygraphmash type design bureau in 1951-52 by Vera Chiminova, Isay Slutsker, et al. Based on Candida of Ludwig&Mayer, 1936, by Jakob Erbar. This typeface has the characteristics of slab-serif, but serifs are much thinner. The capitals are of generous width, x-height is large. Good legibility in small sizes makes this typeface useful in newspaper and magazine typography, while strong character shapes provide for pleasant display lines. The digital version in 3 weights was designed at Polygraphmash by Alexander Tarbeev in 1988. Small capitals, additional Bold, Extra Bold, and Extra Condensed styles were developed by Manvel Shmavonyan and released by ParaType in 2008.

Superba Pro is a condensed Egyptian font family with short ascenders and descenders. The dots on the lowercase ‘i’ and the German umlaut-vowels are square. Haas Type Foundry created the original Superba in 1928-1930. Steve Jackaman (ITF) designed and produced a digital version of the bold weight in 1992. In 2017, Jackaman completely redrew the bold weight, added an accompanying wide weight, and expanded the glyph set to support Central and Eastern European languages. A set of slab serif framed capitals is displayed in the 1906 edition of the Keystone Type Foundry specimen book as “John Alden Initials”. Pixel Pants is my wanna-be 1980-ies pixelfont. Well, it really looks like a pixel font, but it's kid of fake - at larger sizes you will notice the wacky and uneven lines, but it sure do bring back memories of the 80-ies! I've made 5 different versions of each letter - just to break the monotony of the usual pixel font! Insert coin and enjoy!

David Kowalski’s typeface Maccaroni is based on a logo type and has been designed to a complete typeface in Prof. Veljovic’s Type Design course at HAW Hamburg. Maccaroni breaks the traditional brush scripts and offers a unique design. Each letter is present in triplicate in order to achieve the illusion of a hand-written typeface. The OpenType programming ensures that two identical letters won’t follow each other.

Named after a small town in Texas just a hop, skip and a jump from the Red River and Arkansas. Rails is an experimental, retro, outline display typeface designed by Superfried. Rails is available in four styles: display, broken, solid and solid broken. As the name suggests they are constructed from parallel tracks with the broken versions featuring distinct breaks for added impact. Combination of the two results in clean, flowing type with sudden and unexpected moments of disruption. Rails has been featured in Computer Arts magazine.

The sheet music for the title song of the 1960 movie "Exodus" had the name hand lettered in a block stencil style with rounded corners and narrow "rails" [the breaks between the stencil parts]. Loosely based on this design and working from just the six letters of the title, Cartage Stencil JNL is available as a digital font in both regular and oblique versions.

A bold sans serif with occasional rule-breaking vertical serifs on some characters was found within page examples from the book "100 Alphabets Publicitaires" ("100 Advertising Alphabets"). Although a few of those vertical serifs extended above the cap height in the hand lettering, they were made more uniform to keep a consistency in the digital version known as Peppermill JNL. Available in both regular and oblique versions.

A 1968 poster for a Doors concert by legendary artist Gary Grimshaw provided the inspiration for this wild, far-out and funky romp through the alphabet. Informal does not have to mean aggressively modern or casual. Helenium is inspired by some hand drawn capitals that I found added to a 19th century map. It's a great font for informal titles and headings that still keep an air or regularity and ever so slightly period elegance. It manages to be formal and casual all at once, as well as classical and modern. Helenium's range of different weights and drop shadow effects make it useful for hierarchical titles and headings. Helenium miniscule adds greater flexibility by extending the family with a fun range of rounded lower case forms.

Lynchburg was inspired by the Jack Daniels Green Label Whiskey logo, included in Lynchburg are a couple Whiskey Barrels located on the less than and greater than keys.
