Emporia JNL is a wonderfully decorative and vintage wood type named for a city in Kansas, and modeled from just a dozen images of individual type blocks spotted for auction online. The release of this typeface is also a milestone for Jeff Levine Fonts. Ryman Gothic is inspired by American Wood Types and Gothic Typefaces, mainly in the work of Edwin Allen and Morris Fuller Benton. MVB Peccadillo is an interpreted revival of a metal typeface popular in the 19th Century, then known as Skeleton Antique. Highly condensed with extra short descenders, the face makes a big impact in a narrow space. Holly Goldsmith worked from letterpress-printed specimens of 96-point, antique metal type, deliberately retaining subtle distortions due to type wear and letterpress impression. Alan Dague-Greene, referring to printed samples of Skeleton Antique, adapted the design to create two additional optical sizes: “Eight” for smaller text and “Twenty-four” for subheads.

Banda is a semi-serif typeface characterized by a tall x-height and rounded semi-serifs. Although it was first designed as a display typeface, Banda quickly evolved into more complex type consisting of seven weights plus their respectful italics. With Red Babe, Austrian designer Moritz Majce produced an energetic typeface which gives an impression of movement and change. As a result of fascination for East European type design, MRF couldn’t resist to make a unique interpretation of a typeface named Pracht. Originally made by the Czech type designer Carl Pracht in 1941–43. Having a rather calligraphic style both in regular and italic, MRF preferred it to be more straightforward and modern-looking. The italic version was executed with traditional italic letters (a, f, g, k, v, w and y). The numerals were made in a classic manner as old-style figures. Can be treated as both a text and display font.

The front page headline of the April 6, 1917 edition of the Bemidji Pioneer [from Bemidji, Minnesota] says in extrabold letters: “State of War is Declared”. The subtext underneath reads: “President Signs Resolution 1:13 P.M., Passed by House 3 O’Clock this Morning”. Thus, the United States formally entered into World War I.
