-OC Format Sans is the third incarnation of this geometric grotesk sans serif which fuses the style of Futura with the rhythm and proportions of Akzidenz. It comes in two styles, standard and a new Print family where crisp sharp edges have been made blunt in reference to the ink spread that occurs when printing on uncoated paper stock. It can give digital media a softer more approachable analog aesthetic. Typical of both grotesk and geometric styles the design has an even weight with minimal stroke contrast and the slanted form is an oblique rather than a true italic. The default double-story �a� and �g� give an academic touch, the single story versions of Set 1 are more friendly and approachable while Set 2 changes the look into something more scientific. The lettering found on an 1878 Salt Lake City advertisement for the Forepaugh’s Circus inspired Faux Pas JNL, which is a bit of a pun on the circus’ name and also a commentary on how this unusual lettering style seems to break all of the rules on stroke width and balance. According to Wikipedia: “Adam John Forepaugh (February 28, 1831 - January 22, 1890) was an American entrepreneur, businessman, and circus owner. Forepaugh owned and operated a circus from 1865 through 1890 under various names including Forepaugh's Circus, The Great Forepaugh Show, The Adam Forepaugh Circus, and Forepaugh & The Wild West. In 1889, Forepaugh sold his circus acts to James Anthony Bailey and James E. Cooper and he sold his railroad cars to the Ringling Brothers. The Ringlings used the equipment to transform their circus from a small animal-powered production to a huge rail-powered behemoth, which later purchased the Barnum & Bailey Circus. Thus, in liquidating his circus assets, he indirectly contributed to the demise of his arch-rival.” Faux Pas JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The Cedi Typeface is a single weight display font that is based on the fluid handwritten style of a work colleague. This design is a fast flowing script that is both lively and original yet equally legible due to it's defined letterforms and open forms. Despite working well in a regular format, during the design process I started to look at ligatures as a solution for solving some problematic combinations. However, this small implementation soon got vastly expanded as I started to focus on the rythm of the letterforms and how best to convey the hand drawn feature in the design. A common problem in most script fonts is the repeating letterforms that would be particularily un-natural for this manual typeface, therefore hinting at it's digital source. The ligature concept soon evolved into over 2400 ligatures, trying to cover all repeating glyphs as well as finding more harmious combiations. This design was created for use in short text settings and use at large point sizes suiting titles, screen use or logo designs.

Neo Sans began as an intriguing assignment from a branding agency. The agency’s client wanted an “ultra modern” type family that was "futuristic without being gimmicky or ephemeral.” When a bureaucratic decision cancelled the project, Monotype staff designer Sebastian Lester decided to finish the design on his own. “I was left with a sketchbook full of ideas,” he said, “and thought it would be a shame not to see what came of them.” Lester decided that the principal ingredient of an "ultra modern" typeface was simplicity of character structure: a carefully drawn, monoline form, open letter shapes and smooth, strong curves. By further amplifying these qualities, he crossed the line from modern to futuristic. Two highly functional and versatile typefaces emerged. These are Neo Sans and Neo Tech, designs Lester describes as "legible without being neutral, nuanced without being fussy, and expressive without being distracting." Both the Neo Sans and the more minimalist Neo Tech families are available in six weights, ranging from Light to Ultra, with companion italics. Neo Tech offers a suite of alternate characters.

Our Bazaruto family was inspired by an old fashioned specimen from “Letters and Lettering” by Carlyle & Oring, but you'll find the inspiration has been greatly expounded upon. What began as an all Capitals specimen has been fleshed out to an extended full character set with many features and variants from the original design. Bazaruto has been an exercise in typographic evolution. The original Art Deco style spawned an Engraved version, then a Bodoni-esque text style, and then a monoline version of that text style (both of the latter complete with Obliques). But after that is when the real interpretations of form began with the development of the Iron fonts, playing off the original specimen having a visual flavor of wrought ironwork in them, and blending that into the Bodoni-esque typestyles. Lastly, a fast and loose hand drawn version of the Iron fonts and an ornaments font were created to add more variety and spunk to the family. The Bazaruto family is a visual grab bag of styles which all have an underlying harmony.

User is a monospaced type family with 30 styles, from Hairline to Bold, divided in Regular, Upright and Stencil, with five weights (Hairline, ExtraLight, Light, Medium and Bold) all with Cameo versions. Complexity and versatility are the keywords for this type family. Despite being a monospaced font, which means there's no kerning, all the glyphs were designed in order to sit comfortably in the 600 points width, a hard task because some glyphs are too narrow ('i' and 'l'), while others are too wide ('m' and 'w'), but they must fit the same width. The desire for keeping a comfortable readability in User was one of the key elements, therefore we designed several ligatures that fit both single and double space width, allowing to maintain a certain idea of proportional design. Brim is inspired by antique woodtype and chromatic type from the 1800s. Its various styles stack together creating a variety of decorative combinations. Each style can be assigned its own colour, resulting in a rich assortment of eye-catching combinations. The font began as a handful of letters created for a logotype. It became clear that it would make an excellent display typeface, so it was expanded to include all uppercase letters, numbers, European accents and more. Warm and tactile, Brim produces punchy headlines and decorative titles. Perfect for posters, packaging and logotypes. The name Brim accurately describes the expanded outer edge designed to produce its distinctive outlines. This overlapping structure couldn’t function correctly in wood or metal type; however for digital typography this system produces a more efficient solution for colour type, both in design and smaller file size, important for web typography. Gorgonzola Gothic is a geometrically-inspired gothic sans serif family that's robust and versatile. ITC Simran was created by the London designer Satwinder Sehmi in 1998. The Indian influence is recognizable at first glance and lends the font an exotic feel - at least to the western eye. Sehmi borrowed forms and feelings from northern Indian writing systems for this typeface. Both the upper and lowercase letters make use of the same lowercase forms, but the upperacse letters have the addition of a horizontal bar running over them at the ascender height. This feature is directly reminiscent of writing systems in northern India, and is ITC Simran's most distinguishing characteristic. But there were other influences as well: Sehmi was also inspired by uncial forms when designing this typeface. ITC Simran exhibits the typical look of writing with a broad-tipped pen, with its strong strokes, as well as characteristic letter forms, for example, the a or h. ITC Simran is a fascinating and harmonious symbiosis of a variety of influences from different cultures. This font is best used for headlines and short texts in point sizes of 12 and larger.

XKANZ SQ is a blockier, more rigid variant of a previous font: XKANZ. It's a futuristic, robotic, variable display font geared towards cyberpunk poster text, cover text, and futuristic UI. Johnny is the latest addition to the long line of popular psychedelic/hippy/funky art nouveau fonts representing the retro side of the Canada Type library. It is the digitization of a popular 1969 Phil Martin typeface that was known by two different names: Harem and Margit. The film type version had plenty of irregularities and quirks that made it seem like it was done in a hurry. Bodoni Sans is a new classic built on the foundation of two centuries of history. Fresh and contemporary, while feeling familiar. Stylish and sophisticated, confident and elegant. Bodoni Sans is more than just chopping off the serifs. The classical proportions of the capitals and x-heights were maintained, but the letterforms were rebalanced for use without serifs. To maintain this contrast over a wide range of sizes, three optical sizes were drawn: Standard, Display and Text. Contrast adjustments were made for each optical size for optimal performance. Mosquito Formal, by Éric de Berranger, takes the original jaunty design of Mosquito and dresses it in a tuxedo. The stressed character strokes, simple, straightforward shapes, relatively large x-height, open counters and hint of Peignot are still there, but the cursive strokes and lively terminals have been replaced with traditional designs. The result is a more serious-and more sophisticated typeface. The idea," says Éric de Berranger, "was to assuage the drawing of Mosquito. To 'calm' it; and eliminate its idiosyncrasies while preserving character structure and general appearance." Although still distinctive, as Éric de Berranger puts it, "Mosquito Formal is more to be read than seen, it is more invisible and thus, more readable than my earlier design." He does, however, use both typefaces in his graphic design projects: Mosquito for headlines and in applications where the lively design is appropriate, and Mosquito Formal for those instances that require a quieter more sophisticated look. This typeface appears to be straight out of a science fiction movie thriller. Mingo is a slightly condensed, somewhat vain gothic with thick vertical strokes proudly tapering downward. Capitals which are normally completely round are now square inside with curving outside corners. Lowercase letters carry the same design traits. And, in the capital A and H, crossbars extend on both sides helping give the face a pronounced retro look. Mingo Gothic is a close cousin to Raleigh Gothic and is an excellent choice for book covers and large display settings. Small caps, fractions, and alternate characters have also been developed for greater layout versatility. Mingo Gothic Bold is now available in the OpenType format. Delphi grew from a logotype Lily Feinberg produced using Greek-column-inspired letterforms. As that concept expanded to include more and more letters, the typeface had its beginnings. Intertwined, kinetic, and deliberate, Delphi carves itself onto the page and screen, encouraging variation and experimentation. The letterforms’ unique construction and predispostion for experimentation inspired two varying sets: Delphi Dio, comprised of two-line strokes, and Delphi Tria, built of both 2- and 3-line strokes.
