Towards the end of the 1400s, in Lyon (France), was living Barthélémy Buyer, descendant of a rich family of merchants. In the end of 1472, he engaged a typographist from Liège (Belgium): Guillaume Le Roy. The first book stemming from their print shop was the Compendium breve ( by Pope Innocent III.) using Blackletter “textura”. Many books followed, most often illustrated with wood carving. In 1483, to print a French translated “Eneide”, they used a venetian “Rotunda” blackletter. Our font was inspired by this “Rotunda” set, with historical forms and ligatures enriched with accented letters and other characters not existing in the original.

Continuo is a fascinating, all-uppercase display typeface wherein the contour of each letterform is described with a single, continuous line. The challenges presented by that simple idea are similar to constructing letterforms with neon tubing. For example, when the strokes of a letterform need to be heavier than the width of the neon tube, two tubes are employed to create the outer contours, effectively leaving an unfilled void inside the stroke. Also, since neon tubes cannot be broken apart as they trace the contours, they must follow a path that, for reasons of economy and to avoid optical massing (or bright spots in neon), the tubes are not crossed. So too, the construction of Continuo follows. The newly updated Continuo now has alternate forms of letters A-Z available in the lowercase a-z and by extension those alternates are also present in the lowercase diacritics. Spotlight was created by British designer Tony Geddes in the tradition of the bold serif fonts of early 19th century England. This type is a combination of the printers selected by Joaquín Ibarra, Spanish printer and typographer and Ezelvir family types, hence its compound classification. Gans Ibarra, designed in 2006 by Paulo W follow the concepts from the original designs from Fundicion Gans. Cord (Zsinór in Hungarian) was originally a commissioned work for a tablecloth pattern with a thread like frame decoration that is actually consist of letters. The lettershapes were being created based on Rovas characters, which were reinterpreted without decreasing legibility. Therefore, the Rovas alphabet was designed in the first place followed by its matching Latin company. Although at first sight Mashine is a strict, "non-design" typeface, this display font is not as geometric as it seems. The use of serif-like terminals and unusual joints gives the design a unique look. This all-caps font provides stylistic alternates for most letters. If you type larger amounts of texts you should activate the Contextual Alternates OpenType feature to have the variants replaced automatically. By choosing best fitting letter pairs intelligently a fluid text composition is achieved. The fonts are provided in OpenType format. Each font contains 470 glyphs. Technically, they follow the Adobe Pro fonts and provide the same glyph set and OpenType functionality.

Weights and Measures is a great title font that is simple and elegant. It is bold without being overpowering. This style was a favorite for me as I made posters for school projects, wrote notes to friends, and made decorative labels.
