Big, expansive and flat on top; that’s a land formation called a mesa. “Mesa” was the first name for Strata Bold Rounded Serif, but it turns out it’s someone else’s registered trademark; in any case, if you need a bold, extended mono-height font that’s great for logotype, you could, as we used to say in the Mid-West, do a whole lot worse. SBRS is the final generation of an evolution that started with Mesa begating Mesa Bold which begat Mesa Bold Rounded which culminated in this evolutionary superior product. Use it!

We have adapted the version of our Arquitecta font for use in Microsoft Office™. It only has 4 variants: regular, italic, bold and bold italic. Font weights have been named in a way that can be clearly shown up in the font list in Office™ programs for the sake of a good hierarchy (the bold variant is quite bold and does not look the same as the original font). Arquitecta Office update: Improvements of proportions and drawing. The set was extended to the current one of Latinotype.

Once I set on the concept for this ‘Origami’ inspired font, I used an imaginary strip of folded paper as the basis for each character, the folded effect being realized fully by incorporating an incised line. Of course the folded paper aspect is just a two dimensional illusion but subconsciously, will automatically be interpreted three dimensionally. There are numerous options for creating alternative characters following this logic, as the centuries-old Origami tradition itself illustrates quite clearly, but I wanted to maintain an ordered sense of style and balance throughout the full character set, so avoided any unnecessary flourishes, staying true to the Japanese ethos and spirit.

Retra is unusual serif high-contrast font family in Bodonian style. Some elements has not classical forms, so the font looks interesting and unusual. It is suitable for headlines and some texts. The specimen book Alphabete: ein Schriftatlas von A bis Z identified the pattern for this typeface as Stymie Black Flair. Although neither the designer nor the original foundry is identified, it bears a strong resemblance to the work of Dave West for Photolettering in the 60s and 70s. Hesperides is based on samples of Colonial period calligraphy. Rather than being directly derived from any one sample, some common characteristics have been emphasized to give it a more coherent and distinctive look, with the accentuated single-looped strokes on many of the characters suggesting a fully flourished style, but showing a bit of restraint. The ultimate effect is really striking, in the tradition of our Queensland and Allegheny fonts, but even more distinctive. The full version includes alternate versions of many of the key characters designed to reduce loop interference and add variety.

An informal decorative sans serif was designed by Gennady Fridman and released by ParaType in 2004. Based on informal lettering. In Russian 'Zubilo' means 'Cold cutter' or 'Chisel'. Colorful letterforms seems to be cut by an amateurish but strong hand used to operate with rough metal tools, not with pen or pencil. The face is good for use in advertisements, posters and headlines, especally for comic editions and youth press. Decorative styles were added in 2011 by the same author.

Frederic Goudy designed National Old Style Roman in 1916. It is loosely based on a logo he lettered for the National Biscuit Company in 1901. Steve Matteson expanded on Goudy’s original by designing a bold, semibold and matching italics. While much of Goudy’s work is strongly influenced by Venetian types of the 15th and 16th centuries - this design has a truly American quality about it. The design is useful for text or headlines that captures a sense of Americana.

Inspired from Cambodia’s alphabet, Khmer. I tried to explore the visual of the original character in Latin characters. Inspired by 2 gothic fonts, Old London (for the modern/straight feel) and Berliner (for the dynamic between thin and bold line). The letters are made with pencil in a millimeter block book, then scanned into clean vector format. And the result can be use for Display or a Headline with traditional or ethnic theme, including film, game, event, etc.
