Norberto, a CastleType original, is based on a Russian design from the late 19th century that in turn appears to be based on Bodoni. However, Norberto is a much warmer design than most Bodonis, with many soft touches such as very gentle curves from the serif at the top of B, D, P, and R; a jaunty cap on the ‘A’ (and Cyrillic ‘El’, ‘De’, etc); charmingly quaint numerals; hairline accents, and other subtleties that make it a wonderful addition to the Modern typefaces. Herculanum is a part of the 1990 program “Type before Gutenberg”, which included the work of twelve contemporary font designers and represented styles from across the ages. Herculanum is a work of Swiss typeface designer Adrian Frutiger. It takes its name from the city of Herculaneum, an ancient Roman resort town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows from Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD (the same eruption that destroyed the nearby city of Pompeii). Herculaneum's ruins are located today in the commune of Ercolano, Campania, Italy. Ancient Roman writings of the 1st century influenced the font's design. Herculanum is distinguished by its broad characters with narrow strokes and its willful character.

Fortezza is a family of fonts inspired by the great masters who have created the Modern Roman style: Firmin Didot (1764 -1836) and Giambattista Bodoni (1740 -1813) Both typefaces can be similar, but a trained and close vision, show clear differences in the final result, like its weight and the degree of transition of the strokes. The original Ainslie was inspired by Mt. Ainslie and the city of Canberra’s inner suburb of the same name. Canberra is Australia’s capital--a planned city designed by American architect Walter Burley Griffin. Griffin’s style and geometric design for the city, which include Mt. Ainslie, are now also the same structure that make up the foundation of Ainslie Sans. Wicked, cheeky and geeky! That's what went through my mind when updating this font. Originally made around year 2000, and now it comes in a restored and updated version. I cleaned up all curves and lines, added multilingual support and kerning. Based upon classic typefaces like Bodoni and Baskerville, but far more unpredictable and wild.

Madisonian has been found in a catalogue of the New York Bruce type-foundry, dated 1859. The lower cases have the feeling of a Bodoni Italic and the initials have a "spencerian" touch. This font did exist originaly in a single weight. The family has been extended with a bold and an engraved version.
