Page Printer JNL was inspired by “Skeleton”, from the William H. Page Wood Type Foundry circa 1848. Its name is a play on both Page’s surname as well as contemporary desktop printers. Page Printer JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A vintage French metal marking stencil for Comandon and Company was the inspiration for the 1400th type design from Jeff Levine Fonts. Dijon Stencil JNL is a condensed serif design with thin stroke weights and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A hand lettered, dual line sans serif type style was used for the title of “Filmland” – a 1931 movie fan magazine from India. This inspired both the digital typeface’s design and name. Filmland JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A 1925 edition for an orchestral arrangements catalog entitled “Carl Fischer Progressive Orchestra Edition” has the title hand lettered in a bold, stylized Roman type design. This has now become the digital font Fancy Roman JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions.

Town Meeting JNL (available in both regular and oblique versions) is a modified version of Mud Creek JNL (which was based on Tuscan Egyptian – a classic wood type). The side spurs were removed and the split serifs were replaced by slab serifs.

Vario is a bold brush-based design. Created by the renowned type designer and calligrapher, Hermann Zapf, Vario offers superb emphasis for use in headlines and displays. It is availble in both regular and italic styles. Vario was first produced in 1982.

“Corbitt” is one of the many designs found within the pages of the 1907 Inland Type Foundry specimen book. A bold spurred serif with Art Nouveau influences, it is now available digitally as River Terrace JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

The image of an old enamel sign advertising poultry inspired Poultry and Fish JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. Horizontal cut-through lines within the Art Deco-era hand lettering adds to the uniqueness of this type design.

Let's get crazy is a font inspired by modern lettering and calligraphy with pronounced swashes, ascending / descending and crazy ear in "r" (btw you have more ordinary alternates) and so on, challenging the boundaries of reasonable. I believe it was Picasso who had a Blue Period between 1901 and 1904. It seems that I have one myself - really not comparing myself to Picasso btw… Recently I created Blue Sheep font and now this one: Little Boy Blue. Little Boy Blue is a very legible, easy-on-the-eye font for texts, books, covers and packaging. Comes with 50 shades of diacritics.

Cassandra has two kinds of letters, wide Capitals on the (shift) capitals and narrow ones on the (no shift) lowercase. You can match them as you like. Take one narrow S and a wide one or two wide ones, whatever turns you on. It will almost always look good. Cassandra is my "bow" to Adolphe Mouron Cassandre. Library Book Initials JNL was modeled from examples of Sidney Gaunt's Publicity Initials; originally sold in metal type by Barnhart Brothers and Spindler as a companion to the Publicity Gothic typeface. The smoothed-down lines of the original characters allow for these initials to balace better when set against complementary type faces. A regular version is on the upper case keys, with an oblique version on the lower case keys.

This reinterpretation of Caslon Rounded showcases one of the early attempts of type foundries to create a novelty ‘rounded’ typeface for general use. While the lettering might easily convey a more modern look of 1960s or 1970s pop typography, its roots definitely lay in the later part of the 19th Century and the heyday of wood type design. Wood Rounded JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A vintage photograph of the Man at the Wheel Saloon in San Pedro, CA [circa 1895] provided an excellent type design source with the unusual lettering on the bar’s sign. Basically a spurred serif design, the unusual characteristic of the type style is the ‘bumps’ or ‘dots’ on the tops of each letter. This has been redrawn digitally as Beer Joint JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Graffick is a mechanical style created by merging a little traditional type design & typography with a little basic graffiti lettering theory. Elida JNL was modeled from an image of some wood type for sale online. Although the type design most likely has its roots in the classic Bodoni, there were a few characters in the original wood type that had a bit of a square or block shape to them. Those characters were modified in order to keep with the overall roundness of the other characters. The name Elida JNL comes from a small town in New Mexico. Available in six styles: Regular, Oblique, Extra Condensed, Extra Condensed Oblique, Ultra Condensed and Mega Condensed.

A title card listing the supporting cast of the 1950 Humphrey Bogart and Gloria Grahame drama “In a Lonely Place” provided the hand lettered slab serif type design that served as the model for Post Production JNL – available in both regular and oblique versions.

The title on the 1925 sheet music for “By the Light of the Stars” was hand lettered in an eccentric Art Nouveau type style with varying character shapes and line widths. This is now available as Erratic Nouveau JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

The hand lettered titles and credits from the 1958 war film “The Young Lions” command your attention with a bold block slab serif type style. This design has been digitally recreated as No Entry JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A bold, condensed slab serif face A July 9, 1935 trade paper ad for Paramount Pictures’ 1st quarter film releases sported hand lettering with chamfered slab serifs. This condensed type design is now available as Preferred Shares JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

From the cover of the 1932 sheet music for “A Great Big Bunch of You” comes a hand-lettered Art Deco type design; boldly hand lettered with contrasting angled lines and varying character widths. Deco Romance JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A unique and stylized type design with Art Deco influence was found within the French publication “Modèles de lettres modernes par Georges Léculier” (“Models of Modern Letters by Léculier”). This lettering is now digitally available as Deco Wide JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Vintage packaging [circa 1940s] for a sewing machine attachment used for making lattice-type stitching had its information hand lettered in a casual Art Deco sans serif design. This became the basis of Home Economics JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A classic example of Art Deco lettering made with a round nib ink pen was found within the pages of “Lettering” by Harry B. Wright (circa 1950). Now available as a digital type font, Pen Moderne JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Slabserif Grotesk JNL was modeled from an example of a wood type design called Antique Light Face, and is available in both regular and oblique versions. The numerals (although an odd fit to the overall design) make this vintage font quite unusual and charming.

The hand lettered title on the cover of the 1934 sheet music for "What A Night" not only acted as a design model for What A Night JNL but also as its namesake. The digital type face is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The Dec., 1936 - Jan., 1937 edition of Radio Mirror offered up a condensed, hand lettered sans serif type design that - although an Art Deco style- is also somewhat futuristic in design. This is now available as Condensed Moderne JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

A condensed type design with Art Deco influences was used for titles within the February, 1938 issue of Modern Screen Magazine. The digital version is named for the famous “Tinsel Town” street intersection. Hollywood and Vine JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.
