The “indalo” means messenger of the Gods in the Iberian language about 2500 BC. It was discovered in the Almeria, south of Spain, Indalo was a ghost that bring luck having a rainbow in his hands. Indalo font is an informal, condensed hand-drawn font with a vintage touch. Its features give it a nice appearance that refer to traditional fluent writing. This font is equipped with a large set of ligatures, as well as different alternatives on some letters, to create more authentic and varied connections between letters. A girl’s handwriting written on the iPad Writing changes – throughout history over centuries, but also from generation to generation. Each new generation of students learns to write the basic forms of the letters a little differently than their predecessors. The role model is also changing. The cursive handwriting taught in school is getting closer and closer to printed type. The children no longer learn the forms of cursive handwriting required for connected writing, but first the “block letters”, only later should they develop their own individual handwriting from this, which many of them no longer do. And the writing tool is also changing. Of course, script looks different when children no longer learn to write on paper with a fountain pen, but on a tablet computer with the “pencil”. The writing experience is completely different, and the “material properties” are different too. There is practically no writing resistance that would make it difficult to move against the direction of writing. "Die Lara" was created based on the template by Lara Mörwald from the winter of 2023. The font version "Black" corresponds to the handwritten original, all thinner variants up to the wafer-thin "Hairline" are derived from it. In the variable font, the intermediate forms can be selected steplessly. In order to preserve the handwritten character of the font, "Die Lara" contains several alternates to most letters and numerals, so that different character forms alternate in the typeface. If the "ligatures" function is activated in the app (which is the default in most programs), these alternates appear automatically as you type. There is also an alternative "swashed" variant of some letters. So you can set somewhat livelier accents at the beginning or end of a word. "Die Lara" also contains fractions and tabular figures.

Linotype Go Tekk is a part of the Take Type Library, selected from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. The font was designed by the German artist Critzler and is available in three weights, thin, medium and black. Go Tekk is a cool, constructed with unusual cross strokes, appearing in almost every character at exactly the same height. The capital letters do not end on the baseline, rather drop even farther down than the descenders of the lower case letters, making it necessary to allow for generous line spacing. Linotype Go Tekk is a relatively static font designed exclusively for headlines and displays.

Although the early 1900s through the 1920s seemed to be the "Golden Age" of ridiculously long novelty song titles, it appears that even the decade of the 1940s had its fair share as well. Song Merchant JNL was modeled from the hand lettered [but exhausting] title of the sheet music for "Princess Poo-Poo-Ly Has Plenty Pa-Pa-Ya (and she Loves to Give it Away)". Despite the obvious double-entendre inferences of the title, the square block letters with rounded corners make for a useful headline font (even if the source material it was drawn from is quite forgettable). Available in regular and oblique versions.

Up until the late 1920s, it was a popular habit in American songwriting to use African Americans as the topic of compositions using denigrating themes, words and even exaggerated character illustrations on the covers of the published sheet music. One such example of what was considered "entertainment" for its time was a piece entitled "Little Black Me". While this now socially and morally unacceptable piece of forgettable tripe is collected by some only for the historical documentation of the times they reflected, one good "positive" came out of this negative chapter of our country's musical heritage: The beautiful floral ornamented letters in the song's title has yielded Fancy Free JNL. Originally hand-lettered on an arc, these spurred Roman letters have been re-drawn, and are offered in both the regular design and a companion version with the ornamentation removed for lettering that is less ornate.

Woven is a geometrical typeface based on a simple tessellation or tiling pattern. The template for the letters has both vertical and horizontal symmetry and the tiling pattern has four-fold rotational symmetry. Variations of this pattern are popular with quilters and most have a woven look to them. To fit the letters into the template results in some distorted letters but it is the pattern that matters, not the individual elements of that pattern. With proper spacing, a block of text will fit together both horizontally and vertically. Woven is intended to be used with alternating letter sets and the OpenType feature of contextual alternatives does this automatically in applications that support it. The upper-case could be used alone but it unlikely that the lower-case characters could be used by themselves. The typeface is hard to read and would make a challenging font for word-search puzzles.

Once I found a pretty H letter initial on an ancient book. The letter was illuminated by beautiful engraved leaves. Based on it, I designed A-Z and 0-9 sets and assembled Medieval Leaves font. This set of decorated initial letters was inspired by those used in 1510 in Nancy (France, Lorraine) for printing of "Recueil ou croniques des hystoires des royaulmes d'Austrasie ou France orientale[...]" Author Symphorien Champion, unknown printer. There were three sorts of initials family, but only one complete and clear, except a very few characters. The printer used some letters to represent others, as V, turned over to make a A, D to make a Q, M for E, So, the reconstruction was a little less difficult. Thorn, Eth, L slash and O slash were also added. The original font's letters was only drawn in white on a black background only, but it was tempting to propose a negative version in black on white. A few letters have multiple appearance, but only the A was clear enough to be reproduced. It can be used as variously as web-site titles, posters and flyer design, publishing texts looking like ancient ones, or greeting cards, all various sorts of presentations, as a very decorative, elegant and luxurious additional font... This font supports strong enlargements revealing its fine details and remaining very smart. Its original medieval height is about one inch equivalent to about three to four lines of characters. This font may be used with all our blackletter fonts, but as well with "1543 Humane Jenson", "1557 Italic" and "1742 Civilite", without any fear about anachronism.

Dedicated to the XXII summer Olympic Games. I was inspired by the icons of these games when creating font Olymp80. This is an excerpt from the official report of the Moscow Olympics: "Sports pictographs, as we know, are pictographic drawings symbolising sports. They serve as points of reference and help overcome language barrier. Over the past few years, they have been integrated into the decoration of Olympic cities, and have been depicted in Olympic posters, commemorative medals, postage stamps, tickets, souvenirs, etc. On the OCOG-80’s request, graduates from several art colleges took up the design of the pictographs of the insignia as the theme of their dissertations. With the help of the research institute of industrial aesthetics, the Organising Committee chose the work submitted by Nikolai Belkov, Mukhina Art School graduate from Leningrad. The State Committee for Inventions and Discoveries under the USSR Council of Ministers recognised the new design as a production pattern. Though highly stylised, the new signs are easily comprehensible. They are smoother in outline because they are constructed at an angle of 30-60 (previously the angle was 45-90). Another merit of the new system is that the designs can be adapted for use in four representations: direct (solid, black against a white background), reverse (solid, white against a black background), contour (black contour against a white background), and reverse-contour (white contour against a black background), and permit several colour and shade and size variations." In the early 1960s, the Duro Decal Company of Chicago, Illinois added to its line of water-applied decal lettering a retail sign cabinet of die-cut, pressure sensitive vinyl letters and numbers. Cowhand is a display typeface designed by Toshi Omagari to keep words at one specific width. Words of one letter will have one very wide character, words of two letters will have characters of half that width and so forth. At the maximum of 20-letter words, characters become very tightly compressed. The design of the Cowhand typeface is inspired by western style block printing with reverse stress that is characterised by chunky slab serifs. Type Tiles JNL is based on a ‘completed’ version of ‘Alpha-Blox’ by American Type Founders, circa 1944. The capitals, lower case and numerals shown in the sample sheet put out by ATF depicted type made with five-high blocks comprised of modular units spaced two points apart. These units could be combined in varying ways to create custom type of varying heights and widths and was available for purchase in both linear (multi-line) and reverse (white on black) formats. Using the 'reverse' model shown on the sample sheet, all of the characters were re-created digitally, and missing punctuation, foreign characters and other glyphs found in a basic computer font were drawn and added. The 'J' and 'T' in the type sample had truncations, so a more complete character was created for each of those letters. For those wanting an unbroken string of words or blank end caps, there is a double column space on the vertical bar key. A single column space is located on the broken bar key for shorter end caps. Baraka - in Swahili - a blessing. It is a simple, block-like typeface closed in cuboids. It was created and designed in Tanzania, Africa. It contains 183 gliphs, which due to their simplicity, which consisted in cutting out letters from rectangles using as little light as possible, makes an impression and is in fact a very heavy display typeface. It was created primarily for posters and labels, where thanks to its modularity and form enclosed in a limited geometric figure

The April 8, 1932 issue of The Film Daily ran an ad for a film entitled "The Sin of Lena Rivers". Hand lettered in a block style of chamfered characters, it is reminiscent of the 1920s, but still carries a touch of Art Deco influences with the thinner and extended horizontal strokes of the E, F and H. This retro sans serif design is now available digitally as Evil Ways JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

It is inspired by the friendliness and cordiality of neo-humanist typefaces with a mix of rounded shapes, some apexed characters, and a little bit of black. Although it follows the ductus, D Sari is also a daring font with less pointed shapes, as is the case with regular neo-humanist typefaces. Inspired from Cambodia’s alphabet, Khmer. I tried to explore the visual of the original character in Latin characters. Inspired by 2 gothic fonts, Old London (for the modern/straight feel) and Berliner (for the dynamic between thin and bold line). The letters are made with pencil in a millimeter block book, then scanned into clean vector format. And the result can be use for Display or a Headline with traditional or ethnic theme, including film, game, event, etc.

The Regular typeface was researched with children and developed specially for use in children’s reading books - bridging the gap between reading and handwriting. Short ascenders and descenders may not trouble literate adults but it is quite a different matter for children struggling to read.
