A ‘Brochette’ in French is a skewer. I used to be a tour guide and some years ago, I guided a couple of tours in Mali. Every night at dinner we had the choice of a ‘Brochette de Capitaine’ (grilled Nile perch on a skewer) or a ‘Brochette de Bœuf’ (grilled beef on a skewer). Of course, every night the Brochette came with French fries and ‘petits pois’ (peas). It was really nice, but after 4 months of eating Brochettes, I longed for something different! The name FeggoliteHatched comes from the fact that it was created with the help of an old font manipulation program called Incubator Pro. It was an attempt to create a more conventional typeface from the odd monospaced font, FeggoliteMono. Newsprint JNL has its origins in an online auction image of wood type. Only the lower case a-z were shown and the type design included an extra-wide 'g' and 's'. Expanding on this idea but narrowing the 's' a bit, Jeff Levine created a capitals set and all of the necessary additional characters - even adding a generous selection of accented characters not usually found in his display fonts. Regular, oblique, narrow, narrow oblique, wide and wide oblique versions are available. All styles offer crisp, clean lettering for headlines, window signage and other display text applications.

Mr Jones was originally conceived as a family for print design consisting of a sans and a headline. The lowercase are wide for legibility at small sizes while the caps are narrower to save space and keep an even balance of negative space when used in body copy. The overall widths of certain characters have been adjusted to almost extremes to keep an even balance of white space around each letter. He works well in body copy, but will need decreased tracking for larger settings. He comes with small caps; proportional, oldstyle, and tabular figures and discretionary ligatures.

FF Berlage started as a research project about the typography of the prominent Dutch architect Hendrik Pieter Berlage (1856 1935). Donald Beekman based the design on a great number of sources, but mainly lettering found in two of Berlage s most quintessential buildings, the Amsterdam Commodities Exchange building (called Beurs van Berlage), and the ANDB building for the Amsterdam diamond cutters union (called De Burcht). Berlage is considered the father of modern architecture in The Netherlands due to his revolutionary theories on architecture and design, that would greatly influence many Dutch architect groups, like the Amsterdam School and De Stijl.

Linotype Laika is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This fun font was created by Dutch designer Mark van Wageningen, who based its forms on those of a sans serif font but gave them wavy, irregular contours. Alles Kaputt means ‘everything’s broken’ in German. I always wonder why my stuff breaks so easily, especially my mobile phones (I have had 7 in the last two years). Maybe I am careless, but I believe that there is a more or less scientific explanation that chaos and destruction are far easier than harmony and creation. I am no scientist, so don’t take my word for it! Alles Kaputt is a nice script font. I made it with a felt tip pen I borrowed from the kids. Use it for texts on product packaging, book covers and websites. Or, whatever you fancy!

Mocombo JNL is a slightly modified version of one of the numerous alphabets created by the late Alf R. Becker for Signs of the Times Magazine during the period of the 1930s through the 1950s. Tod Swormstedt of ST Media—who is also the curator of the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio—supplied Jeff Levine a wealth of source material from which this font is derived. The angular style of this typeface was originally referred to as “German Poster Lettering” by Becker, but it can represent many styles from 1940s night clubs to African safaris and just about anything in-between.

Sheet music for another one of those songs from the early part of the 20th Century with a wonderfully wordy hand lettered title was the model for the Art Nouveau flavored Go Home JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. 1908's "I Used to be Afraid to Go Home in the Dark (Now I'm Afraid to Go at All)" is comprised of eighteen words. It may have been a mouthful to request from the local sheet music shop, but the lettering on its cover made it a great candidate for preserving as a digital typeface.

Fact is a workhorse open sans serif type system. It is inspired by the great Frutiger typeface. While the Regular style is slightly modernized but still quite close to Frutiger, changing the weight or width makes differences of the design more pronounced. The style range of Fact is wider than of any cognate type family, including weights from Thin to Black and widths from Compressed to Expanded. Fact type system contains 48 upright styles and 48 italics with variations in width and weight. The font was designed by Alexandra Korolkova and Manvel Shmavonyan and released by Paratype in 2018-2019.

Originally ZionTrain was built as a (probably first in Cyrillic!) navigation typeface for the Kharkiv identity project and Kharkiv subway and airport navigation systems. We wanted comprehensible, distinctive letterforms, that can help everybody on the way from Babylon to Zion. The project was used in Kharkiv promotion at homeland and abroad, but was rejected by the new government. As a corporate typeface it was used for a few cultural projects. Now it is equipped with Slavic Cyrillic and Monotonic Greek and has special Stencil faces especially for low-budget navigations (don't forget to get your own Stencil Medium for free!).

Introducing Rusty Store Typeface Rusty Store Typeface is inspired by the classic era typeface in the 1800 era but is combined with today’s era and produces a very elegant and charming typeface. The details of the “Rusty Store” shape are very subtle and flow creating unique and gorgeous curves. The inspiration for this font came from a wall-writing in Cuba. At first glance we thought: "There is something wrong with the wall-writing." But a closer look revealed, that it just mixed up different stroke-styles. That "feature" became the designing principle behind CA Segundo: Round characters like O, U or C are available either with a fat or a thin stroke, whereas other characters with orthogonal lines come in two different styles – uppercase characters emphasize the vertical strokes, while lower cases emphasize the horizontal strokes. This gives you the opportunity to design just while you type.

Among the many fonts that he cut during those years were a ‘mediaen’ (pica-sized) roman and italic, and the digital Miklós fonts are an interpretation of these ‘mediaen’ types. Peter Schoeffer was a printer who was apprenticed to Gutenburg and after leaving Gutenburg in 1455 he set up shop with Facob Fust. His son, Peter the Younger, moved to Mainz and carried on the trade. This particular font is based on a typeface of Peter the Younger that was cut circa 1509-1520. This font has over 900 characters. While there are only about 80 in the historical exemplar the rest have been developed for modern usage. This font is based on Typ.7:146/148G also known as Gesellschaft für Typenkunde plate no. 258.

This is a fully connected script font, not calligraphic, but entirely designed to follow handwritten cursive ligatures rules as teached in schools. In order to correctly visualize it, you have to enable OpenType features (Contextual Alternates, Discretionary Ligatures, Standard Ligatues and Kerning). Trying to write All Capitals will generate Block Letters writings, since cursive style doesn't allow more than the first uppercase per word, however this font is not meant to be a Block Letters font. Using specific type combinations will generate special glyphs. All of these features are intended to reproduce a classic schoolboy or schoolgirl notebook.

Ammurapi was the last king of Ugarit, which was destroyed circa 1200 B.C. Back then all writing was done by hand and all that has been preserved is on clay tablets many of which were fired in the very destruction of the cities that enabled these documents to withstand the rvages of time. Ugarit unlike the other cuneiform scripts has a very limited number of glyphs. It is somehow exotically attractive. This font has been encoded in the appropriate unicode block to permit ease of use for scholarly purposes, but would also make a fine use as a decorative element.
