Here’s the follow-up to my Route 66 series, patterned after the typeface used on signage on the U.S. interstate highway system for fifty years. The numbers and uppercase letters are true to the original, while a number of the lowercase letters show the influence of the new Clearview type. Caesario is Mike Scarpitti's newest font, based on the famous inscriptory lettering on the Trajan column in Rome. After searching through many sources, he turned to the drawings of the original column lettering made by Frederic Goudy in 1936. The superior quality of these drawings combined with the Mike's faithful reproduction of the characters forms make Caesario the best available representation of the style of this famous incription.

The Etalage-script has been drawn for the first time in the year 2000, based on a early 20th century lettering stencil with what farmer Boelema at Lalleweer stenciled his grainsacks. Houdini was extemporized from the single word "Houdini" on a lithographed poster for the magician. The original was a shaded outline like our Houdini Shaded font, but we felt that a solid version would be worthwhile too. Like the companion font Houdini, the shaded version was created from the single word Houdini on an old lithographed poster for the famous magician. The original was hand-lettered by a litho lettering artist.

Sheet music for the song "Beyond the Blue Horizon" from the motion picture "Monte Carlo" had the movie title in hand-lettering reminiscent of the Futura Black style, but with an inline stripe through each character. These few letter examples were the basis for Gambling Resort JNL and conjure up the Nouveau Riche spending their nights in Monte Carlo packing the roulette wheels, blackjack tables and slot machines.

Shadowland was a magazine dedicated to the arts, and was published from 1919 through 1923. The lettering for its masthead was hand lettered in a then-contemporary Art Nouveau style. Although the photoplay (movies) was just an incremental part of the magazine’s overview of the arts, the digital version of the type design has been named Cinema Nouveau JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

This typeface is based on Albrecht Dürer’s work “Die Underweysung der Messung” (Institutiones Geometricae, Instruction in Measurement). Please note that this font needs special treatment when typesetting text. If you need black text, you need to type just capital letters separated by spaces. If you need coloured text, type both lower case and upper case (with the lower case character first), and then assign a colour to the lowercase letters only.
