Shout is a “Hey, Look at ME” font. It is an attention-getting font for posters, flyers and ads. Its lineage includes the Haas Type Foundry’s 19th century advertising font, Kompakte Grotesk, which Jan Tschichold (1902-1974) dryly described as “extended sans serif” and which graphic designer Roland Holst (1868-1938) would have disapprovingly referred to as a “shout,” as opposed to the quiet presentation of information that he believed was the proper function of advertising. In 1963 Letraset released what appears to be an updated variation in multiple weights designed by Frederick Lambert called Compacta. Shout draws heavily on Compacta, as well as other similar fonts of the 50s and 60s like Eurostile Bold Condensed and Permanent Headline. In weight, it falls about halfway between Compacta Bold and Compacta Black, but with a relatively heavier lower case that is not so easily pushed around by the upper case. After all, one can shout while sitting down. Shout is the first font released with our new encoding, as noted in the All_customer_readme.txt. The Euro symbol has been moved to position 128 and the Zcaron/zcaron have been added at positions 142/158 respectively. Otherwise, Shout has our usual idiosyncratic glyph selection, with the German ch/ck instead of braces, a long s instead of the Greek mu and our usual Hand-in-Hand symbol. There are also left and right glyphs of a big mouth ]ing (135/137) and left and right glyphs of an angry man shouting (172/177). Please use Shout with discretion. Folks get tired of being yelled out. After awhile, they stop listening. Shout ML represents a major extension of the original release, with the following changes: 1. Broken Vows was one of two typefaces I created to go along with some fragmented poetry written as I went through a divorce, the second being WHORE. Compact sans, ideal for setting long texts in small or very small type sizes: for packaging, instruction booklets, drug information leaflets and anything else that has to be legible at very small sizes. Lean and rhythmical, designed ideally to be used at less than 8 points (Brevier was the old typefounders’ name for 8-point type), Brevier holds up well even under adverse printing conditions. The apparently geometric letterforms hide Renaissance characteristics, the x-height and openings are very generous and the strokes slightly modulated. In order to offset ink spread – which is inevitable when printing very small sizes of type – Brevier has large white spaces between the letters. All internal angles have deep ink traps and many connections have been left open.

You may recognize the looks of Retroxoid - if not, then let me help you out: Retroxoid is actually a font I made back in 2007. I ran prints of the font, through a very bad copymachine, used a wet cloth to make the print look worn, scanned the prints and voila! Retrozoid, my very first Open Type font, was born! I’m a bit of a sucker for neon lights, especially in big cities. My favourite city is Tokyo, with its brightly coloured billboards and its back alleys full of neon-lit eateries. At first sight, Neon Goo is a slightly warped font, with some funny looking glyphs and a generous spacing. When you start using it, you’ll find out that the glyphs do complement each other! Neon Goo comes with all diacritics and a set of alternates for the lower case letters.

Medieval Times is a digital revival of an illuminated alphabet dating back to a text from the medieval period. Each letter is made up of several different human or mythological animal figures engaged in activities that reflect the beliefs and myths of that enchanted era. This frivolous 6-font typeface was inspired by playing with my food one evening. I began to wonder what it would be like to draw a typeface with a pipette and liquid... the result is Fluid. A key feature are the contextual alternates that substitute an alternate second glyph when typing double letters, this gives a more natural feel to the resulting text. Eldridge is reminiscent of the sort of clear functional slab serif that was often to be seen in the 19th century. It is the plainer cousin of our Bamberforth family and the two partner together very well—Bamberforth for the eye-catching headines and Eldridge for the essential support. François Boltana was a French prolific lettering artist during the late 20th Century. He created the Stilla typeface in 1973. Stilla is a cursive “Fat Face”-style design, reminiscent of the first large advertising and display types produced in the wake of the successful Bodoni, Didot, and Walbaum text faces.
