Joy Redick designed Blackoak, a big and heavy Egyptienne-sytle titling slab serif face, in 1990. The extremely robust style of the characters in this typeface was consciously distorted; creating letterforms that appear flattened and stretched, like a rubber band. Blackoak is drawn in the style of old wood tpes, just like those that one envisions when one thinks of the large, decorative posters that once filled Wild West America. The wood type collection of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC acted as a primary source of inspiration for this design. True to its rooks, Blackoak is meant for use exclusively in headlines in very large point sizes, or for logos and other corporate advertising purposes.

Discórdia is a type-family of contrasting contrasts. Each of the four members of the family has a different contrast type. Regular has broad-nib contrast, Bold has horizontal contrast, the Italic is monoline, which means it has no apparent contrast, and Bold Italic is... Well, it’s probably best if see for yourself. These different design structures were fine-tuned to work well together in the same line, creating emphasis and hierarchy through a mini-super-family that groups a wedge-serif Regular, a slab-serif Bold, a sans-serif-ish Italic and a twisted Bold Italic. Lithuanian type designer Mindaugas Strockis created this slab FontFont between 1998 and 2002. The family contains 4 weights: Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic and is ideally suited for advertising and packaging, festive occasions, small text as well as software and gaming. FF Elementa provides advanced typographical support with features such as small capitals, alternate characters, case-sensitive forms, fractions, super- and subscript characters, and stylistic alternates. This Font is born basing itself on several standard typographic models. Inspired by our calligraphic drawings, the idea was to synthesize these many shapes into a unique font that can be used commonly. The slab base has been gradually humanized. The serifs have been carved, refined, rounded off, in order to galvanize the font and ease the task of reading in lower case. The angle of attack of the round letters is an echo of the 15 Century typographic heritage. It was important for us to create an expressive and humanized font, which could also be used for edition. The purpose was to confront the Ancient typographic canon of beauty with some funny and fancyful elements.

Core Circus Rough is a textured version of Core Circus which is a layered type family consisting of seven 3D effect layers, eight 2D effect layers and one shadow effect layer. Uppercase and lowercase letters are separated by such features that counters are opened or closed. Core Circus provides other closed counter styles such as numbers with opentype feature (Stylistic Alternatives). Also available Core Magic Rough (Slab-Serif version of Core Circus Rough) The shape of Core Circus is simple but the combinations of effect fonts are impressive. The design of the Jeunesse font family derives from a study of primers which the designer undertook earlier in his career. Jeunesse was designed with the intention of combining excellent legibility and character recognition with the ability to create compact, distinctive words and lines while maintaining basic flourishless letterforms. The sans serif style is pre-dominant in this design, but serifs or rather parts have been added where necessary, mostly at the top left hand parts of the characters, to aid readability. Use Jeunesse as a text and display face. There are also fully sans serif and slab serif versions available which can be used on their own or mixed with each other and the parent fonts.

The English typographer Robert Harling created Tea Chest in 1939 with the Stephenson Blake foundry. Today, this classic design is available in digital format from Linotype GmbH. Tea Chest is a bold stencil face. The font's narrow letters are all caps, and they sport small, slab serifs. Harling's design was most likely reminiscent of the old industrial lettering painted onto boxes and wooden crates that used to be shipped all over the world on the high seas. These letters had to be simple to reproduce, easy to read, and not take up too much space! German type designer Erik Spiekermann and American type designer Christian Schwartz created this display and sans FontFont in 2008. The 1930s era French textbook on lettering "100 Alphabets Publicitaires déssinés par M. Moullet" featured a hand lettered chamfered alphabet with slab serifs reminiscent of sports lettering. Although intended for advertising and signage inspiration, only a partial lower case was illustrated along with the capitals and no numbers or other characters existed. These had to be created from scratch. The finished result is not only a bit of classic lettering from the past, but the font also doubles as a typeface with a sports look and feel. A traditional (rather than stylized) M and N are located on the solid bar key and the broken bar key respectively. Old Sport JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Fellbaum Grotesk is a condensed typeface with both grotesque and cursive/humanist attributes. Slope Sans is an original design that combines a technological shape model borrowed from the early Macintosh system fonts with organic, open elements looking futuristic in a retrospective manner. Designed as part of a font family without different weights, Slope Sans Pro provides OpenType features for alternate letter forms in two stylistic sets. The basic version works similar to a stencil font, an alternative set has consistently closed shapes and a more rigid appearance, while the second stylistic set offers some alternative letter forms. Named after the steadfast doctor from Albert Camus’ The Plague, Rieux is an even-tempered slab-serif that is confident without being cocky and approachable without being casual. The aesthetic of Rieux is inspired by the industrial age. While the design is not directly derived from typefaces of that era, the shapes of letter-forms are informed by images of over-sized steel machines and the monolithic brick buildings that housed them. Rieux is available in 5 weights and is ideal for uncatalogued, magazines, short publications and company collateral. What is a brutalist typeface? The exact definition is anyone’s guess. Regardless, the Nomos superfamily is our take on the genre. Like the eponymous architectural style, Nomos is raw, direct, and honest. Its unrefined aesthetics reveal an orderly construction that is as firmly rooted in classic modernism as in the internet age—with simple, functional letterforms and the blunt convergence of diagonal and vertical stems. The Nomos Sans subfamily is a low-contrast neogrotesk with 18 styles and a set of 1000+ characters. A confident choice for fashion and finance, for apps and advertising: humble and expedient in body text, vigorous in display sizes. Has extra poise when paired with Nomos Slab.

Compliments was inspired by a few hand-lettered words on a 1930s brochure by Western Union entitled “The Yellow Blank is Correct for Every Social Need.” It is now available in OpenType format with contextual alternates for a better script effect.

A heavy block sans in chrome and solid variants. The high lower-case x-height and short ascenders and descenders permit tight line spacing for an impactful, punchy effect. The chrome variant works well at larger sizes and in shorter settings.

The Eskapade font family is the result of Alisa Nowak’s research into Roman and German blackletter forms, mainly Fraktur letters. The idea was to adapt these broken forms into a contemporary family instead of creating a faithful revival of a historical typeface. On one hand, the ten normal Eskapade styles are conceived for continuous text in books and magazines with good legibility in smaller sizes. On the other hand, the six angled Eskapade Fraktur styles capture the reader’s attention in headlines with its mixture of round and straight forms as seen in ‘e’, ‘g’, and ‘o’. Eskapade works exceptionally well for branding, logotypes, and visual identities, for editorials like magazines, fanzines, or posters, and for packaging. Eskapade roman adopts a humanist structure, but is more condensed than other oldstyle serifs. The reason behind this stems from the goal of closely resembling the Fraktur style to create harmony in mixed text settings. Legibility is enhanced by its low contrast between thick and thin strokes and its tall x-height. Eskapade offers an airy and light typographic colour with its smooth design. Eskapade italic is based on the Cancellaresca script and shows some particularities in its condensed and round forms. This structure also provided the base for Eskapade Fraktur italic. Eskapade Fraktur is more contrasted and slightly bolder than the usual darkness of a regular weight. The innovative Eskapade Fraktur italic, equally based on the Cancellaresca script previously mentioned, is secondarily influenced by the Sütterlin forms — an unique script practiced in Germany in the vanishingly short period between 1915 and 1941. The new ornaments are also hybrid Sütterlin forms to fit with the smooth roman styles. Although there are many Fraktur-style typefaces available today, they usually lack italics, and their italics are usually slanted uprights rather than proper italics. This motivated extensive experimentation with the italic Fraktur shapes and resulted in Eskapade Fraktur’s unusual and interesting solutions. In addition to standard capitals, it offers a second set of more decorative capitals with double-stroke lines to intensify creative application and encourage experimental use. The Thin and Black Fraktur styles are meant for display sizes (headlines, posters, branding, and signage). A typeface with this much tension needs to keep a good harmony between strokes and counters, so Eskapade Black has amplified inktraps and a more dynamic structure seen in the contrast between straight and round forms. These qualities make the family bolder and more enticing, especially with the included uppercase alternates. The Fraktur’s black weights are strident, refusing to let the white of the paper win the tug-of-war. It also won’t give away its secrets: Is it modern or historic, edgy or amicable, beguiling ornamentation or brutish presentation? That all depends on how the radically expanded Eskapade family is used, but its 16 fonts certainly aren’t tame.

Vintage Price Tags JNL comprises three sets of numbers in both ribbon, circle and star patterns which, when combined will produce point-of-sale price elements. The designs were re-drawn from examples found in an old wood type catalog, and are now collected in digital format. Ribbon-style numbers are found on the upper case keys. A through J have the large numbers, K through T are the smaller, underlined numbers. The remaining upper case keys contain the dollar sign, cents sign and the phrases "each", "for", "dozen" and "pair". On the lower case, the circle set of combination numbers are on the following keystrokes: The keys a through j are the left side semi-circle numbers and the "k" key is a blank left side semi-circle. The l through u keys are the right side semicircle numbers and the "v" keystroke is a blank right side semi-circle. The star set is on the standard numbers keys for the left side of the star, with the right side characters on the corresponding shift keystrokes for the number keys. In following the original design examples, a cents sign follows the numbers on the right side of the circle or star sets. The lower case w through z contain a left side star blank, a left side star with $1, a right side star blank and a right side star with small double zeros (to comprise a star shaped price tag for $1.00).

Based on some examples of a Clarendon-inspired wood type design, Clarenwood JNL is a bold and effective titling font which harkens back to old times and advertising on a grander scale.

Regulaire is my laid back comic font, inspired by graffiti and my everyday regular handwriting. Works quite nice for kids products, comics, party posters - or anything that needs a casual comic look!

Usefully is a quirky and laid-back handwritten font. Whatever the topic, this font will be a wonderful asset to your font library, as it has the potential to enhance any creation.

An eye-catching and practical type family that doesn't intend to be retro or evoke any geometrical cliché. Ranging from a low contrasted thin to a vigorous black, Denso is available in both low and high contrast versions. All consistently developed across two styles, Serif and Sans. Marked by the vertical rhythm, enhanced by the enormous x-height, Denso has the typographic qualities that will allow the design to be highly readable, with a strong stylish statement.

Quanta was designed without reference to existing sansserif faces. As an original design, Quanta draws on principles of letterform developed during my studies of lettercarving (in Wales with Ieuan Rees) and Roman proportion. My intention was to produce a highly legible and adaptable sans-serif, initially intended to be a TrueType GX font, then as a Multiple Master font, later as a five weight range from extremely thin to extra black. A related uncial design will be released shortly.

Grafinc is fat, black and robust. It is a geometric-based display typeface that comes in two cuts: ExtraBlack and Rounded. Grafinc can be used for all types of media – print, web, broadcasting or games. Despite its robust appearance and display character, Grafinc is very friendly typeface. It appears to be very legible in smaller sizes, too. The cuts include some very fine ligatures, making its appearance very rhythmic and smooth. Available in OpenType and western languages.

Soliden is a neo grotesk san serif font family with solid letterforms. Designed and published by Eko Bimantara in 2022, Soliden became a suitable choice for large display and functional purposes. The letterforms are built in large x-height with spacious counters. It consists of 8 weight from Thin to Black and 3 width; Condensed, Normal and Expanded, which make it a large font family with 48 styles. Soliden has 394 glyphs which cover broad latin languages.

Original Foundry: TypeType Original typeface name: TT Cottons Pinatas Cottons is a friendly hand-drawn typeface with condensed proportions. Each separate style of Pinatas Cottons was drawn by using different instruments. For instance, the black style was painted with a real brush, and the thin one was created with a pen. We tried to keep this analog feeling of hand drawing while we digitalized each style of the typeface. Pinatas Cottons is your ideal design helper.

Introducing Pistoletto script. I was inspired by works of Roy Lichtenstein and Michelangelo Pistoletto. There are 4 fonts that in different combinations make interesting results: Background, Black, Highlight, Regular. Each style supports European languages. Basic latin has uppercase alternates, two lowercase alternates, many ligatures and swashes. I used for display pictures following works of Roy Lichtenstein: Pistol (1964), Engagement Ring (1961), Oh, Jeff...I Love You, Too...But... (1964), Seductive Girl, Yellow Brushstroke I (1965), Brushstroke (1965).

American type designer Alan Dague-Greene created this serif FontFont in 2001. The family has 8 weights, ranging from Book to Black (including italics) and is ideally suited for book text and editorial and publishing. FF Atma Serif provides advanced typographical support with features such as ligatures, small capitals, petite capitals, alternate characters, case-sensitive forms, and fractions. It comes with a complete range of figure set options – oldstyle and lining figures, each in tabular and proportional widths.

Dexa Pro was designed by Ceyhun Birinci in 2020 with an inspiration to create a contemporary super family with inspiration from classic sans serif families. It's a workhorse family consisting of 72 fonts in condensed, narrow, normal and expanded widths. Each width has 18 fonts in thin to black weights, along with their true italic counterparts. With more than 770 glyphs per font, It offers a ton of language support from all the Latin languages to Cyrillic.

Its open counters and large x height give it excellent performance in small sizes. On the other hand, its curved diagonals, generous width and soft shapes give it a friendly but functional personality for a wide range of messages and voices. We recommend the four most extreme weights (Thin, ExtraLight, Black, and Heavy) for large sizes starting at 18 points, and the five intermediate weights (Light, Book, Regular, Medium, and Bold) for small sizes starting at 7 points.
