-OC Format Sans is the third incarnation of this geometric grotesk sans serif which fuses the style of Futura with the rhythm and proportions of Akzidenz. It comes in two styles, standard and a new Print family where crisp sharp edges have been made blunt in reference to the ink spread that occurs when printing on uncoated paper stock. It can give digital media a softer more approachable analog aesthetic. Typical of both grotesk and geometric styles the design has an even weight with minimal stroke contrast and the slanted form is an oblique rather than a true italic. The default double-story �a� and �g� give an academic touch, the single story versions of Set 1 are more friendly and approachable while Set 2 changes the look into something more scientific. Made with tireless attention to detail and kerning it's perfect for logotypes and extensive text, supports multiple languages and comes with a plethora of OpenType features including standard and discretionary ligatures, social icons, symbols, and multiple figure styles including roman numerals.

Éric de Berranger likes to multitask, and often works on two typeface families at once. Such was the case with Mosquito, a jaunty sans that was developed at the same time he was creating the more traditional Maxime. Mosquito represented a sort of recreation," says de Berranger. "When I grew tired of working on one design I could work on the other and then come back to the first, full of courage and desire!" Mosquito is built from simple, straightforward shapes, but its distinctive stroke terminals and slight oblique weight stress distinguish the design from more conventional sans serif faces. The relatively large x-height and open counters add to the legibility of the design. The capitals are straightforward (with just a hint of Peignot), while the lowercase has a softer, more inviting demeanor. "I drew Mosquito with the hope that it would be pleasant to look at and to read," says de Berranger. "I think the end result is almost feminine." Mosquito comes in three weights, with complementary italic designs and a suite of small caps, old style figures and alternate characters."

Magendfret is a typeface that was designed very mechanically. However, it is also the optimal typeface for expressing soft warmth. Magendfret was designed by constructing a "line." That is: it is based on the concept "it is the combination of a straight line and a curve with a character." I made the character from the act of using and constructing a vector graphics editor, a mouse, and a keyboard. That, I thought when constructing it, should make neither a roman type nor italic type into a novel form, and a very general form. Once those characters were bit-map-ized, they traced again mechanically by the vector graphics editor. It became a soft impression by this work. The very mechanical act of changing the thickness of a line uniformly constitutes the family. The thickness of seven patterns was created first and, finally it results in four patterns. Respectively, styles called Light, Regular, Medium, and Bold are attached as usual. The name Magendfret is meaningless. It is an anagram of a certain words selected very arbitrarily.

Rubber B is a heavy display typeface with very tight open counters & character spacing and non-existent closed counters. It is an amalgam of styles and influences that demands attention. It is comparable with the highly geometric experimental fonts of the '90s and early '00s, but also heavily inspired by decorative fonts of the '60s and the psychedelic poster art of the '70s. Bold and loud, yet delicate, almost calligraphic in some cases. It works with Latin & Extended Latin, Cyrillic & Extended Cyrillic and Greek. It comes with 1,500+ glyphs, with more than half of them being ligatures. It also contains several Stylistic Alternates as well as Localised forms (available through the Open Type Features and also as ligatures). All these features are available in order to not only make sure that it works with as many languages as possible, but also that depending on the specific glyph or ligature one chooses to use, they have the ability to alter the emotional character of the word(s) they’re setting. Ideal for titles and logos, as it works best in medium and large sizes.

Flyers, Intros from James Bond films and PlayStation games as well as the typeface Senator from Zuzane Licko inspired the Dutch designer Paul van der Laan to create his font Linotype Rezident. To its design, van der Laan says, I was designing a business card for a friend and I had a certain mood in mind for the typography. I tried to capture this mood in a couple of sketches, drew a few characters directly onscreen and just expanded them into a typeface." And so began Linotype Rezident, with its cool, technical and constructivist appearance which brings to mind computers and virtual reality. And the name? " The name of the font comes from the game Resident Evil. One of the main characters in the game is called Leon and the typeface was initially drawn for a friend of mine called Leon. It also refers to the city of The Hague - where I live and got my education - since it's often called 'de residentie'", where the queen and parliament of The Netherlands are seated."

It started with an italic, or to be more precise, half an italic. The slanted styles of Urge Text exhibit a certain bipolarity, the tops of glyphs having a standard italic form, the bottoms of glyphs being more Roman in their construction. This sturdy footing really locks the italics to the baseline, making them very legible while still being distinct from the uprights. The same bipolar approach didn't work very well in upright styles, so the Romans are more toned down. Ranging from the almost monoline, Egyptian style light weights to higher contrast ‘Modern’ bolds, there is much potential for use in typographically demanding scenarios. The family consists of six weights, normal and condensed widths, all with italics, making a total of 24 fonts; it’s a highly usable text typeface with an array of OpenType features. All styles include small caps, multiple figure styles (proportional- and tabular-, oldstyle and lining, small cap proportional figures, numerators, denominators, superscript and subscript), standard ligatures, alternate forms (stylistic sets), automatic fractions, case sensitive forms, and a handy (perhaps!) ‘percent off’ ligature in the discretionary ligatures feature.

@andinistas presents Rapsodia, an uncommon roman caps font with serif and high contrast, designed by #carlosfabiancg. Rapsodia was inspired by Stunt Roman, Speedball Textbook for Pen & Brush Lettering by Ross F. George. A Belle Époque humanist serif in two styles: crisp, high-contrast Haut-Monde and soft, low-contrast Demimonde… When you design a lot of display pieces, you’re often in need of tall, slim type. Liaisons provides that, in a distinct fin-de-siècle style inspired by the great posters of the Gilded Age from Sweden, Denmark, France, and Scotland. Ladoga — one of the most beautiful Russian designs from the soviet period. The type family was developed in Polygraphmash in 1968 by Anatoly Shchukin on the base of his own lettering for book covers and titles. It was one of the first attempts in Cyrillic typography to create text face in a style of renaissance antiqua. Stylization to broad pen calligraphy resembles early forms of Latin types that were based on handwritten humanistic minuscule. Unique in its character set digital version of Ladoga was designed by Viktor Kharik on the base of artworks of Shchukin for ParaType. The family consists of roman and italic styles in text and display versions. Character set includes characters of original shapes as well as more modern alternatives. Besides there are a set of additional characters, old style figures and small caps. The fonts cover all modern languages based on Latin and Cyrillic scripts, Greek alphabet (including polytonic extension), Hebrew and historical Cyrillic letters. Ladoga is gorgeous in display sizes and pretty readable in texts. It’s well suitable for fiction literature, historical books, art criticism, religious and philologist works. It will be extreme helpful for multilingual issues and for inclusions into body text historical passages in original orthography. The family was released in 2010.

Change Serif is a typeface family designed as a part of Mateusz Machalski's PhD project, carried out in 2015-2021. The main goal was to create a typeface allowing for the typesetting of complex humanistic texts, containing many historical letterforms. The starting point was the preparation of most of the glyphs provided in unicode for Latin, Cyrillic and Greek. From the formal point of view, the Change family is based on Renaissance proportions with contemporary details. Classic upright version is paired with expressive and calligraphic italics, inspired by the works of Robert Granjon. Each of the styles contains about 4,000 characters, allowing for a broad range of typesetting capabilities – multiscript publications, historical translations, and texts transcription. The crucial aspect was to treat all scripts equally. All OpenType features, such as swashes, final forms, decorative ligatures, can be found in Latin, Cyrillic and also Greek. The name of the typeface refers to the design process in which there are constant changes and corrections. On the other hand, it means to convey how this project influenced my perception of typography and allowed me to embrace it as a medium of artistic expression. Due to its similar proportions, Change works perfectly with the Gaultier typeface.

Artist and calligrapher Daniel Reeve, well known for the lettering and maps in The Lord of the Rings films, is creating hand-crafted fonts of some of his writing styles - Kereru is the inaugural release, allowing users to emulate some of his much-admired calligraphy. Nominally a half-uncial style, clever arrangements of the stylistic sets allow Kereru to be set as full uncial or standard roman, as well as offering numerous alternates, ligatures, swashes and flourishes, ornaments, unlimited fractions, scientific inferiors and numeric superscript, all accessible via OpenType features. Cyrillic and Greek alphabets are included, in addition to the letters required for all the languages of Western, Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic. Kereru is very legible and easy on the eye, without sacrificing calligraphic flair. A pdf description of the Stylistic Sets and their usage is included with the font package, which comprises regular, bold and italic variations. Kereru Italic supercedes and improves upon its previous incarnation, Shire Regular. The name Kereru comes from New Zealand's Maori language - it is our native wood pigeon, a bird of generous and rounded form, like the font itself.

Guillotine is inspired by an uncredited early 1970s film face called Rhythm Bold. While the original film type had plenty of round forms that were uneven and somewhat badly drawn to fit within the overwhelming pop wave of the time, this digital incarnation disposes of all curves, relies on a much sharper grid, and adheres to specific parameters of stroke widths and angles. Guillotine is a thick poster classic, mechanically constructed yet clearly exhibiting the idiosyncratic traits of hand drawing. Its forms embody the amalgamation of a multitude of influences, such as woodcut letters, punch card forms, and the unique art nouveau concepts that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s. The totality of the font is a strong display aesthetic that plays very well anywhere the eye is meant to see a strong but casual, sharp but hand crafted message. This font comes in all popular formats for all common platforms, and includes expanded language support to cover Western, Eastern and Central European Latin languages, as well as Baltic, Celtic/Welsh, Esperanto, Maltese, and Turkish. A few alternate characters are sprinkled throughout the character map.

The font Arsena was designed for a contest on the creation of modern Ukrainian business font "Arsenal" and awarded the 3rd prize. A little squared figure which is enlightened from the middle, unobvious, but the existing modular grid, simplified, but not a primitive design of letters, mathematically defined optimum inclination angle, counterbalanced ratio of thickness, an optimum spacing and a manual kerning - all of this is for the best reproduction in any conditions as well as for the maximum clarity and readability. Asymmetric slab serifs make the font Ukrainian and at the same time have a modern and dynamic look. Besides its highlighting function, Italics also have an independent assignment. The Italics are made under calligraphic traditions in a modern style of mono-thickness (but optically compensated) and in particular, in combination with alternative initials of the same style and it is relevant to use it in a private letter, or in the design of the official greetings, etc. It is also promoted by four typographic ornamental motives. Due to the above-mentioned qualities this font can be used successfully for a wide range of tasks - from business to mass media, publishing, advertising and accidental.

Milk Drops is a semi-casual-feeling cross between a didone and slab serif display font. Elegant, flourishy, whimsical and bold, as much as one font can be any or all of those things! It has highly contrasting weights, but not so much to take itself too seriously or risk legibility. Playfully, it entertains the teardrop motif wherever it can – in expected areas like the descender of a "y" and the ascender of an "f", but also in some whimsical flourishes. Many of the uses of the teardrop motif are implemented on the terminals and ears where many old prints may have suffered from bleed of ink – answering a "what if" question like "what if those accidental bleeds were designed on purpose?" or "what if a font were designed as though it was already seen through blurry eyes?" Milk Drops also features stencil-like open counters and lots of ligatures (32). Note also, it has some super-nerdy additions like symbols for Bitcoin, Pilcrow, Interrobang and Irony Mark. Language Support Milk Drops is highly versatile – with an impressive count of 470 glyphs, it can accommodate up to 78 latin-based languages.

This is Alter Littera’s second original design. It started as an attempt at translating into roman forms the lowercase metrics of classic blackletters, in particular those of The Oldtype “Alter Gotisch” Font. Eventually, the design process led naturally to an innovative and modern re-creation of the overall forms and style of classic bold condensed letters from the early twentieth century, especially those of the “Century Bold Condensed” type from American Type Founders (ATF) Company’s American Specimen Book of Type Styles, Jersey City, 1912 (pp. 274-7) [also seen in McGrew, M. (1993), American Metal Typefaces of the Twentieth Century, New Castle: Oak Knoll Books (pp. 76-7)]. In addition to the usual standard characters for typesetting in modern Western languages, the font includes a comprehensive set of special characters, alternates, ligatures and ornaments, plus Opentype features, that can be used for creating distinctive and attractive texts with virtually unlimited variations. The glyphs are clean, smooth and definitely readable, so the font will be suitable not only for large titles and headings, but also for full text pages. Enzian is the fruit of a yearlong German Chancellor Fellowship sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Our hope was simple: to make something useful and beautiful out of something that most people consider to be neither. We were fascinated by the complex persona of Blackletter in Germany and drawn to its emotive ornament and its sensual, non-geometry. Two areas in particular, the long-standing rivalry and widely-believed inferiority that Blackletter had with Roman type and Blackletter’s relevance in contemporary culture, became the foundation of the project. The result is Enzian: an invigorated, original Blackletter of uncommon depth and hopefully, a bit of charm. It is warm and expressive, feminine and contemporary, while staying true to its hand-written, calligraphic roots. Enzian is a multi-language, workhorse typeface that can create hierarchy (with unconventional italic and small caps), and has numerals that fit the family. It is a display face that isn't afraid of handling longer text; one that is equally comfortable in headlines and in poetry. We are delighted to announce that Enzian has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Type Design by the Type Director’s Club.

This font is inspired by Johannes Janssonius, well know as Jan Janszoon o Jan Janssonius (Arnhem, 1588 – Amsterdam, 1664), was a Dutch cartographer, publisher and engraver. Married to Hondius's daughter. He was the author of many masterpieces of cartography of the 1700s like Willem Blaeu and Hondius, famous maps with heavy use of decorations in the letterig to fill the spaces of oceans, seas, lakes and scrolls. Birka is the first typeface I designed from scratch. It took a whole year of my weekend and evening hours and is the typeface that teached me everything I know about type design. It is easy too see that I had Garamond in mind when drawing it. Birka is beautiful" was the comment of the well known Swedish designer Bo Berndal when he first saw it. That comment gave me the courage to design more and more typefaces. In a Danish article about Scandinavian type design, Birka was taken as example of a typical Swedishness in typography. I am not sure what the writer had in mind, but it surely sounded well. Birka has its name from the ancient Viking town Birka, whose remains are found not far away from Stockholm. Birka was released in 1992."

I come from a family of educators- my mom, husband, stepmom, brother-in-law, and sister are all currently teaching and I have taught in the past. This font was created after speaking to several elementary school teachers who were struggling to find just the right font to use on worksheets and projects in their classroom. They liked many features of other fonts, but needed small things altered in order to make a "perfect fit" for their class. Hand-drawn by me, this font hopefully addresses several of those issues. As penmanship styles vary across the globe, I am sure this font will not work in every classroom. But hopefully this style will work for many teachers to give their early readers a highly legible, neat, accurate font. It is best used with kerning turned on to allow for accurate letter spacing.

M Ling Wai is a humanistic script based on a real handwritten style. It has a feminine, urban and lively character filled with literate finesse. M Ling Wai was written with a thin ball pen by a young woman in a unique, personal, running writing style, such that it is real, natural and feminine. Contrast of strokes is low and the text is visible and eye-catching. Its light to medium stems (豎) make it suitable for small text and subheading with little conglutination. M Ling Wai is a humanistic script based on a real handwritten style. It has a feminine, urban and lively character filled with literate finesse. M Ling Wai was written with a thin ball pen by a young woman in a unique, personal, running writing style, such that it is real, natural and feminine. Contrast of strokes is low and the text is visible and eye-catching. Its light to medium stems (豎) make it suitable for small text and subheading with little conglutination. All strokes are highly irregular, inconsistent, irregularly oriented and tightly coupled or connected. Spatial distribution, positioning, size and relative proportion of radicals fully reflect a natural and personal favor. It is one of the first proportional width font in a full scale. It is best suited for casual lively text, illustrations, set upright (non-slanted), non-condensed.
