Fimfarum is a word that the Czech actor and writer Jan Werich created for one of his magical fairy tales for children and adults. Fimfarum is also the name of this playful typeface equipped with various styles simulating the randomness of handwriting. AltraTwo is a complete redraw of a family based on a tracing of a clip art font from an old printed book. The AltraTwo family adds italic, black, and black italic. I liked the gentle calligraphic look. Consider it a sans serif with style. This is a typical NuevoDeco OpenType pro font with caps, lowercase, small caps, lining, oldstyle, and small cap figures, numerators, denominators, fractions, swashes, and so on. There aren't many unusal ligatures for this one, though. It does have the Latin 2 character set or what Adobe calls CE, Central European characters. Altra has been my preferred header face for sevral years. it also works very well for body copy. I usually use it for my contrasting tip and quote paragraphs with Bergsland Pro as my normal body copy.

The inspiration source for MFC Falconer Monogram is an unusual hand-drawn design from a vintage embroidery publication which relies on rigid geometric letterforms to create an upward stepping framework. This monogram which evokes visions of it embossed or printed on antique baking tins was originally intended to adorn handkerchiefs, but the possibilities of its use are up to your imagination. The digital outline fonts, DIN 1451 Fette Engschrift and Fette Mittelschrift were created by URW in 1984 and are the basis for all DIN font families. Chico was by designed by Javier Mariscal and Josema Urós specifically for the final roll of credits in the animated film Chico y Rita. The goal was to design a typeface with a good readability but that conveyed a strong script character and, in some way, tuned to the style of line used throughout the film. Using a modular sans-serif as a template, Javier Mariscal reinterpreted the forms freely, while maintaining gridlike proportions. Messenger is a redux of two mid-1970s Markus Low designs: Markus Roman, an upright calligraphic face, and Ingrid, a popular typositor-era script. Through the original film faces were a couple of years apart and carried different names, they essentially had the same kind of Roman/Italic relationship two members of the same typeface family would have. The forms of both faces were reworked and updated to fit in the Ingrid mold, which is the truer-to-calligraphy one. The Messenger package is comprised of two interchangeable fonts that support Western, Eastern and Central European languages, as well as Baltic, Celtic/Welsh and Esperanto. «Abelina» is a typeface that can be used in display sizes for titles where part of the central premise is to emulate certain features of gestural handwriting.  Concepts like spontaneity, speed and fluidity, associated with the use of certain calligraphic tools – in this case the pointed brush – led to a typographic result based on the pattern-like structure coming from the chancery and italic calligraphic models. «Abelina» - initially designed by Yanina Arabena (Calligrapher, Graphic Designer and Typographer) - is reborn to make way for “Abelina Pro” through the solid work of Guillermo Vizzari working together with Ale Paul from Sudtipos. Throughout its use, “Abelina Pro” maintains the structure of a firm style, integrating a dynamic rhythm in the composition of short texts and offering personality to each of the words it builds. It has over a thousand glyphs, including several alternates, ligatures combination, initials and miscellaneous to reinforce the idea of the author of merging a calligraphic project in the typographic world; allowing new ways to capture this great universe of italic faces. «Abelina» project was initially born as a typographic project developed by Yanina Arabena – tutored by Ale Paul and Ana Sanfelippo – under completion of the Specialization in Typography Design at University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the years 2011 and 2012.
