A few emails sent to Canada Type have asked for more “bad scripts”. A few others asked for "more Mascara-like treatments". And some asked for more fonts of “distressed elegance”. Whatever you like to call this style of doubled-script font, sightings of designs using it have become common within the last few years. Such fonts have become the standard in expressing elegant confusion, old chaos in modern settings, recycled histories, and rebellious ideas. This style is quite often seen on chic clothing, music packaging, some sports paraphernalia, surfer and skateboarder gear, even book covers. That said, the Heathen font was made to include an advantageous feature that other distressed scripts do not normally have: More intertwined over-swashing in the majuscules. This over-swashing is quite useful in settings where the stroke and fill colors differ, or complement each other. It is also quite the point of emphasis where the idea is to show elegance gone ancient, old thoughts in a modern wrapper, rust never sleeping, or the very basic limits of the world’s nature. The original Heathen was made by redrawing Phil Martin’s Polonaise majuscules and superposing them over the majuscules of Scroll, another Canada Type font. The lowercase is a superposition of Scroll’s lowercase atop a pre-release version of Sterling Script, yet another Canada Type font. Heathen Two was made in a similar way, by combining two pre-release Canada Type scripts.

Opal Pro is a text family designed by Hannes von Döhren in 2008. It gives every text a noble character. The typeface has long ascenders that clearly rise above the capital letters and a low x-height. Opal’s letters sport inktraps at stroke junctions, which on one hand create a cutout feeling and on the other hand strengthens the image in larger point sizes. In total, the letterforms have clear emphasis on their verticals and horizontals; they do not fear the weight on their curves. In addition to the Italic and Bold, the Opal type family includes a Script face, whose letterforms include connections, similar to handwriting. On top of that, the typeface possesses swash letters for italic and script, small caps, many ligatures and borders & ornaments. With a little bit of care, designers will be able to create the finest of traditional, elegant work with this family.

The Vale Press was a contemporary of Willam Morris's Kelmscott Press. The types used by the Vale Press were designed by artist Charles Ricketts, who also supervised the design and printing of Vale Press books. The main type used, Vale, was based on the Jenson 15th century roman type style. The King's Fount was an experimental semi-uncial font based on the Vale type. The King's Fount was designed in 1903 for the Vale edition of the 15h century poem "The Kingis Quair". This semi-uncial font evokes old English and Anglo-Saxon lettering. Speener is a handwritten font designed by Tom Nikosey, an American Graphic Designer specializing in Typographic Design and Illustration. Speener is based on his son Spencer’s printing style. “I love the way Spence prints. There’s a loose control in a vertical stroke that has his personality built into it. Although the early 1900s through the 1920s seemed to be the "Golden Age" of ridiculously long novelty song titles, it appears that even the decade of the 1940s had its fair share as well. Song Merchant JNL was modeled from the hand lettered [but exhausting] title of the sheet music for "Princess Poo-Poo-Ly Has Plenty Pa-Pa-Ya (and she Loves to Give it Away)". Despite the obvious double-entendre inferences of the title, the square block letters with rounded corners make for a useful headline font (even if the source material it was drawn from is quite forgettable). The Droid Serif Pro Family (4 fonts) is a contemporary serif typeface family designed for comfortable reading on screen. Friar Pro is a revival of Frederic W. Goudy's "Friar" typeface. Goudy described this typeface design as a 'typographic solecism' as it combines a lowercase of half-uncial forms from the 4th through 7th centuries with an uppercase of square capitals from the 4th century. Steve Matteson developed the font as a tribute to Goudy and his joy of typographic exploration. Steve created a complete character set with OpenType typographic enhancements to give the font an authentic appearance to the original. David Kowalski’s typeface Maccaroni is based on a logo type and has been designed to a complete typeface in Prof. Veljovic’s Type Design course at HAW Hamburg. Maccaroni breaks the traditional brush scripts and offers a unique design. Each letter is present in triplicate in order to achieve the illusion of a hand-written typeface. The OpenType programming ensures that two identical letters won’t follow each other.
