The Keiss type family is our interpretation of the popular nineteen century Scotch Roman typefaces. We intended to keep a very classic approach while introducing a couple of new elements that differentiate this type family from it’s ancestors. This design, with short descenders and ascenders, along with three very distinct optical sizes makes this type family well suited for contemporary newspapers. The Title and Big versions range from Thin to Heavy, with matching italics, in order to be used in big sizes and stand out in the design. The Text ranges from Thin to ExtraBold and is a standalone type family for text usage, with narrow proportions and wider and open italics for improved text setting. The Condensed versions, ranging from Thin to Bold, don’t have italics, although they can be matched with the italics of the Title and Big versions, due to the fact they are very condensed.

Linotype Bix Plain, from Argentinian designer Victor Luis Garcia, is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the 1999 International Digital Type Design Contest for inclusion on the Take Type 3 CD. The font is composed exclusively of capital letters. The figures have constructed basic forms and show the influence of the advertisement types of the 1920s, with all their well-mannered details. The lower sections of the graceful letters are white and set against a black background, the upper sections are black on white. This makes the overall picture look as though written on stripes and gives the delicate letter stability. The nostalgic-modern Linotype Bix Pleain is best for headlines in point sizes of 18 or larger.

Vesta™ was originally designed as an orientation and information system for the city of Rome, the birthplace of the roman alphabet. The forms are inspired by letterforms found on a frieze in the Vesta temple in Tivoli. Vesta has more contrast than the average sans serif but, like many of other designs of Gerard Unger, let in a lot of light - the letterforms are open, the counters generous. Relatively narrow and hence economical - without feeling too compressed - Vesta is an ideal solution for newspapers and magazines, and numerous other applications, including corporate identity and more. Big Vesta was intended as Vesta's display partner. However, it also performs very well at small sizes - its large x-height and short ascenders and descenders make it particularly economical, making it ideal when space is limited; for example on a mobile display. I have always wanted to create the world's biggest and heaviest font. I admit that I was visually inspired by contenders like Akimoto, Champ Ultra, Blackoak and Bloque. Candy Bits was originally designed at Bitstream as a custom project for a large printer manufacturer. Released in 1997, Candy Bits was designed by Jim Lyles. The typographic characters were fashioned after a well known American candy. The balance of the characters in the font are designed to enhance the 3D illusion by appearing to recede into the page. Soon after its completion, Mr. Lyles joined a local health club.

Big Brush is the result of me seeing Brush Script everywhere around me. Toronto signage is full of Brush Script. My last two trips to the West Coast showed me mostly Brush Script. Brush Script must be the most widely overused North American script font of all time. Don't we all know at least one restaurant or bar with its sign made in Brush Script? And aren't you just sick of the weird F, Q and T of Brush Script? Well, out with the old and in with the new. Big Brush was made as a replacement for Brush Script, and then some. In designing an advertising poster to show off the unconventional Safefont typeface, Steve drew what appeared as relatively traditional letterforms for the expository text. When these characters were as well received as the typeface which was the subject of the poster, Steve decided to expand them into a full-fledged graffiti style typeface of their own. While exploring where this new design might lead, Steve worked to elaborate the poster segment which had inspired it. He soon found himself staring at a drawing of a weapons-wielding Bonnie and Clyde. The desperate duo resonated with the graphic elements of the drawn letters; thus leading to the effortless fleshing out of the design, and to its name, Big Clyde.

The Bix Bats symbol family was developed in 2003 by Argentinean designer Victor Garcia to complement his display text font Bix Plain. Bix Bats contains four different symbol fonts. Most of the characters in these fonts have their lower halves reversed out. Typing a line of text in these symbol fonts, or mixing these symbol fonts with Bix Plain, will create a very interesting text effect: the bottom half of your lines of text will be reversed out, on top of a colored bar. Condell Bio is part of the bigger Condell family: a project that involves series of typographies and whose early conception and development began in 2006. Unlike its Poster version , with its excessive and eccentric forms, Condell Bio tries to adapt itself to a monolinear shape, but conserving at the same time the organic character of its forms and endings. In this way Condell Bio is able to expanse its typographical use fields to a vaster scale. Condell’s endings and organic strokes haven’t been conceived in a structural way but stylistically. This means that Condell’s high readability doesn’t change and its original personality and idiosyncrasy as well. Condell can be said the ideal typography for connoting the corporation and brand identity, because of its high readability; especially its “eatable” forms, who collects images of food, are easily adaptable to food industry.
