Elida JNL was modeled from an image of some wood type for sale online. Although the type design most likely has its roots in the classic Bodoni, there were a few characters in the original wood type that had a bit of a square or block shape to them. Those characters were modified in order to keep with the overall roundness of the other characters. The name Elida JNL comes from a small town in New Mexico. Available in six styles: Regular, Oblique, Extra Condensed, Extra Condensed Oblique, Ultra Condensed and Mega Condensed.

Dignus was inspired in two clever and famous typefaces: Bank Gothic and Microgramma. Bank Gothic designed by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF in 1930. Microgramma typeface designed by Alessandro Butti and Aldo Novarese for Nebiolo in 1952. Those typefaces were based on a stable rectangular shape with rounded corners, denoting the constructivist heritage and technological spirit of '50. Hadron is a fusion of gothic black letter and foundational letter forms. It has a heavy flat pen influence but is combined with more modern letter forms for increased legibility over that offered by black letter fonts. Unlike most black letter fonts, Hadron can be set all caps using the first level of caps. A basic design kernel based on the caps “O” and “H” was created first. These letter forms consist of an interplay between curves and straight lines with abrupt transitions and also possess some of the geometric crispness of a modern sans serif. The rest of the Hadron font was developed around this “O” and “H” kernel. This font could be used for any application requiring a formal black letter or foundational lettering look. Hadron could also be used for invitations, brochures and posters. The first level of caps and lower case is basic enough to set a large body of text. It could also be set all caps at that level.

Burford is a font family that I sketched while traveling through Europe. I was mesmerized by all the unique typography that was showcased throughout the five countries I visited. Inspired by all that I had seen, I found myself spending 4-5 hours per day in Amsterdam’s Vondel Park drawing characters. Once back in the states I digitalized Burford, deciding it would make for a beautiful layer-based font. Burford Pro package comes with all 18 layering fonts including 5 base layers, 3 top layers, 5 bottom layers and 2 sets of graphic elements. They are strategically made to build on top of each other, creating a cohesive and easy to use layer-based family. Tudor Perpendicular is Greater Albion's seasonal Black letter release (not that we rule out the possibility of non-seasonal ones...) for 2012. As the name suggests, it is a design which emphasises, and yes, exaggerates for effect, the perpendicular up and down nature of Black Letter typefaces. There's no particular historical basis for this one - straight out of our own minds, just as a lot of Black letter 'revivals' have been over the years. Come and visit 'Ye Olde' world today...

While designing a logotype for a client, she described herself as "loud and colorful." Thinking about some eras in typefaces that portrayed this idea, I instantly thought of the "Roaring 20s" and the Prohibition era where the cinema is starting to take off and the Italian mafia are running the bars. (Which is coincidental because my client has family connections to Al Capone.) One of the most iconic typefaces designed for these times was Broadway by Morris Fuller Benton in 1925. This typeface was the zeitgeist of Broadway, the big city, theater, and cinema, which can now be seen in use almost everywhere an old family run cinema is located. Using the heavy influences of the thick and thin contrast of this typeface, Maritote brings the charm of Broadway into the 21st century.
