A tessellation is a shape that can be used to completely fill the plane—simple examples are isosceles triangles, squares, and hexagons. Tessellation patterns are eye-catching and visually appealing, which is the reason that they have long been popular in a variety of decorative situations, such as quilting. Most of the shapes in TessieSpinners suggest a spinning motion. Most do not resemble real world objects. The TessieSpinners fonts contain shapes that can be used to construct tessellation patterns. It has two styles, an outline style and a filled or black style. The black style can be used to construct colored patterns. To see how patterns can be constructed, see the “Samples” file here. Most or all of these shapes were discovered/created by the font designer during the past twenty years in the process of designing maze books, coloring books, and a book about tessellations.(Earlier tessellation fonts from IngrimayneType, the TessieDingies fonts, lack a black or filled version so cannot do colored patterns. Make sure the leading is the same as font size or the rows will not line up.)

Akagi started as a rough sketch while on a really long plane ride to Tokyo in 2007. I wanted to develop a sans that was a complete departure from my successful Aaux Pro (now Aaux Next) sans serif family. Whereas Aaux and its siblings are rather unforgiving and stark in their presentation, I wanted this new sans serif to "smile" at you when it's on the page. When the plane landed and I realized I did not sleep through the 15 hour trip, my brain shut off, the laptop closed and I hopped in the car to the hotel—forgetting the "new sans" folder on my desktop. Fast forward a few months and I found myself seeing a lot of crisp, rigid, robot-like sans serif typefaces everywhere... I enjoy these new crop of faces but wanted to see something "friendlier" and remembered my earlier sketch work. The groundwork was there screaming at me to complete and Akagi arose from the ashes. To be truly satisfied with it personally, a great deal of time was spent trying to create a harmony between line and curve in an attempt to show that you can be crisp, clean and legible and still keep some personality. The Light and Fat weights (regular and italic) are my favorites and I hope to see them as the workhorses of the typeface.

Diogenes is an elegant and crisp text typeface. While the skeletons of the individual characters are distinct and strong, the serifs are fine and sharp. This is especially true for the capitals with their comparatively strong horizontal strokes. The graceful appearance of Diogenes makes it an ideal choice for books, newspapers, and magazines, both at small text sizes and display sizes. See also this minisite.

This typeface is inspired from the old display fonts that used to decorate the world around us, but just because we don't see such beautiful signage these days, doesn't mean we should lose the great typefaces used. Foreman is a condensed serif display typeface, with hard geometric lines inspired from fonts used in the 1930s and 1940s, and very much used by the American Art Deco movement.

CA Mechano is quite what the name suggests – A mechanical typeface. Pretty straight forward and all-caps as long as you don’t activate the stylistic set "disorder". You will see what happens then: a lot of fun for the typographic eye. A more consumable distraction is offered by the other stylistic set. You will dis­cover peacefully rounded letters in the neighborhood of strictly mechanically constructed glyphs.

Hurme Geometric Sans No.4 includes seven weights with true Small Caps, obliques and swash alternates. Uppercase swash alternates can be automatically applied to all characters or just to first and last characters of each word. Amagusi is a font that is inspired by Japanese culture with all its uniqueness and beauty that makes the bamboo curtain country very loved by many people, as well as in the art of writing kanji which has its own aesthetic value. The amagasi font is formed and made by combining the contours and anatomy of kanji letters so that it has a very beautiful value when used in a sentence and is very attractive to readers who see it and of course it will make your product more elegant and appreciated by everyone who sees it.

Chatham is part of the "Staunton Script Family" of fonts designed by Ted Staunton for his historic novel centered around a family bible and the handwritten annotation through 7 generations. The Chatham font is overtly crooked and has an extreme right-leaning slant—perhaps we should call it "Cheney".

Decano is a modern sans serif, ALL-CAPS, display font. Using a ten-sided polygon, or decagon for the usually circular characters and employing similar angles for the rest of the character set gives us some strong and interesting word forms. It’s great for branding, headlines, and signage.

Neroli is an oil distilled from the blossom of the bitter orange tree and used extensively in perfumery. Its scent is sweet, honeyed with green and spicy facets. The eponymous OpenType font is of tidy Art Deco construction and will lend its own unique bouquet to any typographic composition.

When Patricia Lillie was growing up, she thought the coolest thing in the world would be finding her own name listed in a library catalog. The fantasy came true in 1986 when her first children's book was published. Five more followed. The thrill of seeing her work on library shelves hasn't abated, but today, Lillie is just as likely to see one of her typefaces on the cover of a book. She has created several display faces and image fonts. My first typeface designs were based on lettering I'd done while working for a library, doing graphics work for the children's section," she explains. "I currently do a lot of web design, but type is my favorite thing." The Tickles (ITC Tickle and ITC Tickle Too) are Lillie's first ITC typeface releases. "I was playing around with a Sharpie marker one day and liked the way the letters looked," she recalls. "I started redoing the letters from scratch in Fontographer to see what developed, and liked those letters too." ITC Tickle is a bi-form font (with both cap and lowercase letters of the same size) that clearly breaks a typographic rule or two. ITC Tickle Too has the same basic lettershapes, but they've grown clusters of stipples that give a three-dimensional quality to the design. The result is a friendly, offbeat display family that's guaranteed to add a giggle to your work."

The Scaffoldini Family provides four different isometric perspectives and is suitable in use in science, engineering and sci-fi themed projects or however you see fit. The lines are formed by bubbles (or circle bricks in Fontstruct) and appear smoother the smaller the size of the type. These are not straight line segments and the gylphs will appear bubbly (scalloped edges) at larger size. Please be aware of this feature of the font before you purchase.

The typeface was designed after seeing a photocopy of some News Gothic text where the ink had faded on the bottom of each character. As character recognition is generally based on the top half of a character, readability was never compromised. Rather like Antique Olive the characters have a top heavy look when viewed straight on, however, as most type is read at an angle with the top further away than the bottom this top heavy look is diminished.

Halesbridge is a soft sans serif font family consisting of 7 weights (from hairline to black), 4 widths (regular to super wide) and all styles are in italic. Many languages are supported (see the picture showing the international glyphs). It’s simple letterforms make it easy on the eyes for reading large amounts of body text and looks very modern, especially in the lighter weights. This family is perfect for editorial design, website design and general informative media. However, I can see endless possibilities for typographic logo designs because of the different widths and weights. Francesco Canovaro designed Asgard as a way to mix his passion for the raw energy of extra bold sans serif typography with the expressivity of high contrast and calligraphy-inspired letterforms. He built the typeface around a strong geometric sans skeleton, to make the letters feel solid and powerful while using wood-type vernacular solutions to solve density through high contrast details. The typeface name was chosen as an homage to the mythical homeland of the Norse Gods, evoking a land of fierce warriors, power and strength - but also of divine, delicate beauty. Thanks to the help of Andrea Tartarelli and Mario de Libero the original design was extended along with the design space, expanding the number of weights and widths with a "workhorse typeface" approach, and adding also a slanted axis to experiment with italics. XPawnShop is a typographical chess font; the pieces are letters. The Pawn is an awkward letter P, the knight is a horse in the shape of an h, the bishop is a decorative letter B, the rook is an elephant with an R shape, the queen is a Q, and the king is an ornate K. Two other XPawnShop fonts are made of very simple pieces, but as a bonus, both have the set of dominoes from the unicode block 1F030 to 1F093. The key layout is a bit complicated; see the key guide for detailed information on how to position pieces correctly.

The BD Micron Robots variable dingbats font features 52 Microns – micro-tiny robot characters with 5 mutations. The variable font technology helped breathing live into the BD Micron Robots See them in action. The Muta1 version of the font shows the Micron Robots in its original shape. Muta5 is the final stage of the Micron Robots mutations. The Variable version of the Micron Robots font is a variable font and you can determine the grade of the mutation between Muta1 and Muta5 by yourself. By the way: The BD Micron Robots perfectly fit together with the BD Micron Font, also available here at MyFonts.

Paradise Lost is a 1667 poem by John Milton which mostly concerns the Biblical story of the Fall of Man, Eve's temptation by the devil and the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden. It's quite a hefty read, as the poem consists of ten books with over 10.000 lines of verse. Needless to say, I didn't read it all. But, it did give me inspiration for a font, which I called Paradise Lost. It's a good name, even though there is nothing Biblical about this font. Paradise Lost was created (pun intended) using a broken bamboo satay skewer and Chinese ink. It is all caps, but upper and lower case differ and like to mingle. I also included several ligatures for double lower case letters (aa, ee, jj, kk, etc.). Paradise Lost comes with an eternity of diacritics.

The CriptoFont and CriptoFont Ornamental were to be used alone or together, providing a nice solution to the project, be it a book, an invitation, or many others. Cripto Font Ornamental has two kinds of ornaments, one used in the beginning of words or sentences (using the uppercase keys), and other to be used to close words or sentences (using the lowers case keys). The Standard version of the Norden font family (see Round and Display) is "a standard sans serif" font. However, the significant detail and difference is that it comes with slightly rounded end corners, which makes the font “easier on the eye”, especially at large sizes compared to traditional fonts with sharp-edge corners. This little but important difference gives the font a commanding yet poised presence, without it imposing itself, as it were.

Ratafly is versatile serifed font that can be used for display or text. The family has ten styles, with five weights and italics for each weight. The name Ratafly is a reference to the origin of the family. It began by blending two very different serifed typefaces, Rataczak and FlyHigh. After a lot of cleaning up, the end result is a family that works better for book text than either of the parents.

Modula was the first high resolution headline face that Zuzana Licko designed with the Macintosh computer. In 1985, the computer was very crude as far as being able to produce subtle curves, but it was outstanding at producing perfect geometric elements. As a guide, she used the proportions of her earlier Emperor Fifteen bitmap design and applied the precision of the computer's geometric elements. See also Modula Round and Ribbed. P22 Virginian is an historic script font designed by Ted Staunton for his historic novel centered around a family bible and the handwritten annotation through 7 generations. The Virginian font is strongly influenced by classic “Chancery cursive” script.

At one time very recently, serifs were lost to the design sinners of the world. Now see them found again. Unearthed and rediscovered. Retribution is not far off. We have been unchained from the belief that gothics have provided us no way back from a lack of variety and interest.

The origin of the word Codswallop is uncertain, but it might have something to do with a 19th century English soft drink brewer named Hiram Codd. Codswallop is a beautiful hand drawn font. A little weird, a tad grotesque and a wee bit over the top, but fun and useful nonetheless.

This is a Cartoonish Brick Font that is reminiscent of some of the Brick Buildings you would see in the Inner Cities. Feel Free to add some graffiti to the brick wall to give it your own Graff City signature. It is also available in a 3d Brick Block Font.

Calypso was inspired by the dance of the same name, and its flowing lines suggest the rhythms of Caribbean / Latin American music. The specimen book Alphabete: ein Schriftatlas von A bis Z identified the pattern for this typeface as Stymie Black Flair. Although neither the designer nor the original foundry is identified, it bears a strong resemblance to the work of Dave West for Photolettering in the 60s and 70s. Big, beautiful and bodacious, it’s a natural choice for attention-grabbing headlines. Many alternate characters available: see the full character map. The PC PostScript, TrueType and OpenType versions contain the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

Akkordeon Slab is the next step in a series of ultra display typefaces.
