I am a coffee person, but two years ago, just before the whole Covid-thing happened, I came down with what I assumed to be the flu. It was a really nasty flu as well: I was down for 10 days or so and when I sort of recovered, nothing tasted the same. Coffee tasted like cardboard and I couldn't stand the taste of it, so I decided to drink tea instead. The 'supermarket tea' we have in Holland is quite bad and tasteless, so I ordered some proper strong English tea online and I have been drinking it ever since. Of course I was thinking of this when I created Imperial Tea font. Imperial Tea font was made with... yes, you've guessed it: Chinese ink and a brush. Imperial Tea is a nice, 'oriental-ish' looking font that comes with a set of alternate glyphs and an impressive language support, including Vietnamese and Greek.

Grand Slam is based on an old cardwriting style known as Poster Gothic. This dynamic letterstyle was used in the heyday of the Hollywood movie poster because of its powerful and snappy appeal. Two attractive cast metal door signs reading "Men" and "Ladies" from back in the Art Deco era inspired the idea for Nameplate JNL. The left parenthesis key starts the border decoration, and the right parenthesis key closes it off. Nameplate JNL has just a basic A-Z and numeral set; the letters "floating" within the parallel lines of the border to form complete nameplates, apartment numbers or any similarly encased words. A period, comma, apostrophe and dash are on their respective keys. A small blank space is on the left bracket key, a medium space is on the right bracket key and a large space is on the left brace key. There is a small, complete frame on the right brace key. For names such as "MacDonald" or "McIntyre", the small "ac" is on the colon key and the small "c" is on the semicolon key. No kerning has been applied in order to give the type more of an antique, "mechanically assembled" look.

The Charles Bluemlein Script Collection is an intriguing reminder of the heady days of hand lettering and calligraphy in the United States. From the early 1930s through World War II, there were about 200 professional hand letterers working in New York City alone. This occupation saw its demise with the advent of photo lettering, and after digital typography, became virtually extinct. The odd way in which the Bluemlein scripts were assembled and created - by collecting different signatures and then building complete alphabets from them - is a fascinating calligraphic adventure. Because the set of constructed designs looked nothing like the original signatures, fictitious names were assigned to the new script typefaces. The typeface styles were then showcased in Higgins Ink catalogs. Alejandro Paul and Sudtipos bring the Bluemlein scripts back to life in a set of expanded digital versions, reflecting the demands of today’s designer. Extreme care has been taken to render the original scripts authentically, keeping the fictitious names originally assigned to them by Bluemlein.

This is the companion sans family to make the Librum serif families work as well as they do. By companion, I do mean stylistically compatible. But mainly, they have the same vertical metrics. So they work very well for run-in heads, inline character styles, and all the rest of the needs in large books with complex formatting. They are designed for use in InDesign, and they work very well in that environment. The fonts use the same OpenType feature files as the rest of the Librum families. The feature files for the italic and bold are more limited—as I have rarely used things like that [over the past 20+ years]. The character shapes are a bit whimsical. The original ancestor of this book design sans was a very playful font I released as Aerle. It’s been calmed down a lot but is still loose and friendly. Helvetica is one of the most famous and popular typefaces in the world. It lends an air of lucid efficiency to any typographic message with its clean, no-nonsense shapes. The original typeface was called Neue Haas Grotesk, and was designed in 1957 by Max Miedinger for the Haas’sche Schriftgiesserei (Haas Type Foundry) in Switzerland. In 1960 the name was changed to Helvetica (an adaptation of Helvetia, the Latin name for Switzerland). Over the years, the original Helvetica™ family was expanded to include many different weights, but these were not as well coordinated with each other as they might have been. At the beginning of the 21st Century, Linotype released an updated design of Helvetica, the Helvetica World typeface family. This family is much smaller in terms of its number of fonts, but each font makes up for this in terms of language support. Helvetica World supports a number of languages and writing systems from all over the globe.

Indipia is a caps-only misprinted font, ideal for display, titles, and headlines. It has alternative characters for all double-letter combinations aa-zz and AA-ZZ to avoid having two identical degraded letters together (You can see this by typing/copying words like mirror BASSOONS into the text box above, with Ligatures on); different characters for upper/lower case letters; and of course all the expected accented characters for European languages. There’s also Stylistic Alternates for some common letters and punctuation which will give a third version of the letter and/or add some random ink-misprints if selected. There are 2 styles -- Regular has small areas misprinted within the letter itself like little bits that haven't been inked, the Solid version doesn't, and the Solid one is on the grey gallery poster image. The zips contain both OTF and TTF versions - install either OTF or TTF, not both (to avoid incompatibility issues).

I am shocked to my very core that the name "Tropical Punch" hasn't been used for a font yet. What a delight, that my very first name choice is available, and I can grow my collection of fonts named after delicious food and drink! Tropical Punch is a retro-tropical font with a ton of variety: I've included nearly 200 multi-letter ligatures with nesting letters, to add quirky and fun variety to all of your projects. There are also a few alternate vowels, plus a few dingbats to add jazzy pizzazz; and 10 smaller catchwords like THE, AND, WITH, and more! I've also made an outline version--Tropical Punch Outline--which surrounds the solid letters beautifully, so you have even more options! Of course, both versions have my usual 300+ extended Latin characters for language support. And I've included a set of uppercase Greek letters as well! And everything, as always, is fully PUA-encoded so all characters are easy to access.

OCR A and OCR B are standardized, monospaced fonts designed for Optical Character Recognition" on electronic devices. OCR A was developed to meet the standards set by the American National Standards Institute in 1966 for the processing of documents by banks, credit card companies and similar businesses. This font was intended to be "read" by scanning devices, and not necessarily by humans. However, because of its "techno" look, it has been re-discovered for advertising and display graphics. OCR B was designed in 1968 by Adrian Frutiger to meet the standards of the European Computer Manufacturer's Association. It was intended for use on products that were to be scanned by electronic devices as well as read by humans. OCR B was made a world standard in 1973, and is more legible to human eyes than most other OCR fonts. Though less appealingly geeky than OCR A, the OCR B version also has a distinctive technical appearance that makes it a hit with graphic designers.

As a beautiful yet eccentric unconnected script, Milroy Upright SG Regular can be a refreshing alternative to the formal upright scripts seen on so many anniversary and wedding announcements today. This nineteenth century classic was designed by Max Rosenow and Julius Schmol for Barnhart Brothers & Spindler in 1895. Milroy Upright was originally known as Oliphant. It was later renamed Advertisers Upright Script in 1925. This new version, Milroy Upright, contains many new alternative characters including a modified cap X and cap Z, a two-story lowercase g, and a matching set of oldstyle figures. Milroy Upright SG Regular is now available in the OpenType format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version including stylistic alternates, discretionary ligatures, and oldstye figures. A Vintage Script for Romance Novels. Lorette began as a digitization of a film typeface from LetterGraphics known as "Laurel". The original specimen included standard Capitals, Lowercase, Numerals, and minimal punctuation, for a bare bones character set. We've fleshed out Lorette to include a full standard character set, an extended international set, Stylistic Alternates, Ligatures, Swash Capitals, etc. so it can be a powerhouse script typestyle. See the 5th graphic for a comprehensive character map preview. First conceived as the upper-and lowercase “e” for the logotype of independent publishers Elemental Editions, the letterforms were so well received that they were extended to an entire typeface and formed the basis for a bespoke font – Eef. The type design draws inspiration from the basic elements, the periodic table, functionalist vintage lettering and influences from other classic geometric typefaces with condensed cuts such as Futura and Trade Gothic. The extended set is now developed into a family consisting of three weights – Regular, Medium and Bold. While developing Eef it has been crucial to maintain the integrity of the geometrical shape in each glyph as much as possible, but also add subtle optical adjustments to make the forms more balanced and harmonic. Due to its detailed balance of simplicity, aesthetics and playfulness Eef works perfectly well in a corporate context as it does in editorial use or poster design. I built the Orchid Key font family from the ground up with the idea that there would be several different styles; the Inline Spurs style was the first to be built, which let me then subtract the spurs, inline slices, or both to make the other styles. I've never made a font quite like this before, which shows in the time it took - it's been over 5 months since I started construction! Each style contains the same character set, with 700 total glyphs. Each has the usual basics: letters, numbers, and punctuation; plus over 300 extended Latin characters for language support, and almost 200 alternates for tons of variety! For this purpose, majiscule diacritical letters are resolved within the letter height. However, when this is done, new forms are obtained by integrated diacritical marks with letters instead of directly merging them. The idea behind this approach is to preserve the typographic value of diacritical marks and emphasize the semantic value of diacritical letters. 68 letters have been redesigned in this way. And also Kalender have different meanings in Turkish: large, humble etc. I considered this name appropriate because it described the structure of this font well.

For 138 years, the Milton Bradley Company (of Springfield, Massachusetts) has been the leading producer of board games, toys and educational/instructional materials. The company was acquired by Hasbro in 1984. It was merged with the also-acquired Parker Brothers in 1991 and became Hasbro Games until both brand ID's were dropped in 2009. “The Moving Picture Game” was a 1920s-era board game created by Howard R. Garis (credited as ‘the author of the Uncle Wiggily game’) and capitalized on the still-new motion picture industry. On top of the storage box is the game’s name – hand lettered in a free-flowing Art Nouveau sans serif that more closely resembles the titles found within animated cartoons or in the ‘bubble letters’ a school child doodles on notebook paper. Recreated as a digital typeface, Pratfall JNL (named after the slips, trips and falls taken by silent era film comedians) is available in both regular and oblique versions.

From the early 1930s through World War II, there were about 200 professional hand letterers working in New York City alone. This occupation saw its demise with the advent of photo lettering, and after digital typography, became virtually extinct. The odd way in which the Bluemlein scripts were assembled and created - by collecting different signatures and then building complete alphabets from them - is a fascinating calligraphic adventure. Because the set of constructed designs looked nothing like the original signatures, fictitious names were assigned to the new script typefaces. June is a contemporary neo-grotesque sans-serif typeface designed to be highly legible, readable, and usable. The inspiration source for Monarchy Initials is the 1934 Book of American Types by American Type Founders. In that specimen book, they had created a sophisticated two color initial design they called "Stationers Initials" which was only available in metal type at 24, 36, and 48 points. This wonderfully detailed initial style is now digitally recreated and revived for modern use. Monarchy Initials is only capable of initial or single letter monograms due to its unique design. The two color aspect of the original design has been preserved and made accessible within all programs. The Capital character slots contain the background color glyphs, and the lowercase slots hold the outline art for the letters. You can choose a color, type a capital letter, then switch to black and type a lowercase letter for the two color effect, or just tpe a lowercase letter on its own. It's that easy! Tom Lincoln's award-winning type design work since the 1960s has been one way or another of expressing his fascination for the Roman majuscules inscribed at the base of the Trajan Column in Rome. This time he has really outdone himself by bringing us Roma, a definitive, contemporary, mature sans serif expression of those majuscules. With Roma, Lincoln is not satisfied with simply creating a proper "Trajan Sans". He goes on to make it a family of four weights, with built-in small caps and oldstyle figures, then he really goes to town with the options he makes available for shading and multi-color settings. Precise renderings of the Roma capitals are provided in different fonts that can function individually or be layered atop each other for two- or three-color treatments.
