Aeonian, designed by Emilia Adorno, was mostly inspired by the iconic morphology adopted by the arts of the 1920s. One hundred years later we can still see the resemblance between the wants and the needs of now and then to reach for the sky, to look ahead and enter the future in style. Now as then, we seek the right tools to do so, then once again, we embrace the rational, yet elegant and stylish forms of simplicity, geometry and symmetry. At the same time, there is a strong and growing need for a warmer approach to creating lovemarks. For that, Aeonian’s alternates hold attractive, soft and inviting shapes to an emotional appeal. Aeonian is a combination of all of them. A rational side entwined with an emotional one. Born a geometric sans, Aeonian ended up being a 2 in 1 font with a sans serif set and alternates reaching over 1200 glyphs. The entire family contains 6 weights, from thin to black, with its matching italics. It features a variety of ligatures to be used as connectors, specially for display. It also offers multilingual support, even for certain display ligatures. Later, Aeonian kept growing, with stylistic alternate sets of initial, mid and final glyphs. These are its arms to reach for infinity with a warm heart. The wide range of possibilities that Aeonian offers, makes it the best font for creating vast design systems with a rich visual language.

Let me introduce my newest font Fregiselle. Fregiselle is a modern brush font, organic, dynamic, and energetic. This font can be used for various purposes such as signatures, titles, logos, correspondence, wedding invitations, letterheads, signages, labels, badges, posters, bulletins, and more. I made this font using a brush pen very thoroughly. Fregiselle also has 26 swashes that look very unique and are very suitable for use in a variety of designs. After the Second World War, the Ionic style replaced Modern Face as the favored typeface for newsprint. A couple decades later, it was in turn replaced by the next generation of newspaper fonts, a mix of Old Face, Transitional and Modern Face forms. Olympian itself tends toward the Old Face style but is nevertheless an example of this new generation, a result of a time of change and experimentation.

I was watching a nice series the other day, which I quite enjoyed, but then I realised that the episode I was watching was in fact the last one. That kinda upset me, as I was just getting into the story. Last Episode is a handmade, all caps font - great for titling, book covers and posters. It comes with a set of alternates and some really interesting discretional ligatures.

Rounded, two was designed with a simple idea in mind: the basis for the majority of the characters is a perfect circle. That circle is then intersected and cropped to make unique, modern and stylish letterforms. Rounded, two is an improved version of my initial experimentation. The font looks good at all sizes, but particularly for large displays where the elegant simplicity of each character can be appreciated.

Garstang Engraved is the latest in Greater Albion's series of ‘wood type’ inspired fonts. Garstang Engraved is a hand-cut Roman, suggesting the late Victorian era, but the type of thing that continued in use well into the twentieth century. If you want a title face that has versatility and suggests a past history, as well as the art of finely cut wood type, then this is it!

A random scan from a late nineteenth-century German type specimen book, encountered on the internet, provided the pattern for this surprisingly contemporary face. Although all of the characters are parallel to the baseline, the unusual dimensional treatment tends to give the impression that they slant upward to the right. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode 1252 Latin and Unicode 1250 Central European character sets.

This typeface is based on Albrecht Dürer’s work “Die Underweysung der Messung” (Institutiones Geometricae, Instruction in Measurement). Please note that this font needs special treatment when typesetting text. If you need black text, you need to type just capital letters separated by spaces. If you need coloured text, type both lower case and upper case (with the lower case character first), and then assign a colour to the lowercase letters only.

The idea behind Geotica was to build a font out of -more or less- simple geometrical line elements. The open wire frame could then be left open or (partially) filled. Geotica comes in four different grades or line thicknesses (One, Two, Three and Four) so it's suitable for a broad use. Each grade has four styles and is loaded with swashes, final forms, lots of ligatures and ornaments.

Astromonkey - here he is, all new, all excited to be alive! Astromonkey comes from outer space, where he has rubbed shoulders with the Star Trekkers, the aliens and Major Tom, who is still floating in his tin can. The font is a squarish all caps, with a different set of glyphs for upper and lower case (so they mingle quite well) and Astromonkey himself - disguised as the paragraph glyph. Enjoy.

If you're old enough to remember having a lettering stencil in school, then you might have tried to save all of the waste paper punched out of the letters and numbers; hoping to do something with them later on. Jeff Levine took his Tramp Steamer JNL stencil font and gave it the look of those waste paper pieces - lined up to form erratic characters with a personality all their own.

In Sidewalker we can see pieces of OCR-A, letters and of other fonts; letters pressed over metallic supports with too much ink and then redesigned on a computer. Reminiscent of how different materials in Burri or Rauchenberg's paintings are used. Some numbers have the same shape of some letters (J=2, 6=G=9, I=1=l ...) and many pieces of letters are copied into others. Very experimental...

Element 120 (Unbinilium) is a hypothetical chemical element in the periodic table. You can forget about that, I just thought it was a cool name for a font. Element 120 is a hand drawn Ultra Bodoni. I drew all the glyphs by hand, then gave them a good grunge makeover and the result is what you see before you. Comes with a periodic table of diacritics as well!

Released in 2006 under the name Flatrock this new 2020 version takes back the original name of Big Cat. Also new for 2020 are two solid black weights and Big Cat now has additional accented glyphs for eastern European countries. An ad spotted in a 1964 issue of Billboard magazine with the words “STAND BACK…” introduced the first record album from then-new stand-up comedian Bill Cosby. The lettering of those two words was in a stencil sans serif design that was a perfect candidate for developing into a digital font. The end result is Advertising Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Presenting… a Western style alphabet from the 1960 edition of Samuel Welo’s “Studio Handbook for Artists and Advertisers”… Extra bold, featuring slab serifs and concave corners, this type style could easily have been found on building signage in the Old West… but in redrawing it digitally, it’s been named Modern West JNL because at one time, this would have been considered a modern style of lettering. Modern West JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Stickley Optical Family is an expansion of P22 Stickley Text, a humanist, Oldstyle-rooted design with a contemporary execution and full OpenType abilities. The font contains ten distinct cuts across four optical masters—in addition to Text for page content, the optical family includes Display for titling; Headline for emphasis; and Caption for footnotes and small sizes. I happened to mention to the proprietor of an antique barn near here that I'd be interested in any old typewriters she happened to come across. A conversation ensued, the proprietor withdrew into a back room, and she re-emerged with an old handwritten letter, dated 18 Sept. 1825 and spanning nearly three pages. The letter, penned by Samuel Clarke, a Princeton, Mass., pastor, sought donations for the victims of an accident at sea. I thought his script unique, stylistic, and definitely something worth digitizing, so I bought the old letter and took it home. Had to come up with several uppercase characters to round out the set, but the results seem good and proper. Full release has complete character set.

Written with a blunt graphite pen, PiS Coalfield features a scruffy scribbled look, loosely inspired by the expressive handwriting on various posters by Sister Corita Kent, an influential pop artist experimenting with serigraphs in the '60s. Leathery and Loopy Letterer of Legend, Richard Starkings has pointed his Apple Pencil at Procreate on his iPad and proceeded to raise the bar on lower case for this scandalous series of squiggles we had to call Rendered in the style of ShoutOut, this jaunty new Comicraft offering features both upper and lower case and recreates a pen lettering style of which we honestly thought Old Man Starkings was no longer capable! Suitable for jolly journal entries, hand-written notes to loved ones and sundry laundry lists, SCOUNDREL does more than Shout, and it does it quite quietly too! Scoundrel includes four weights (Regular, Italic, Bold & Bold Italic) with upper and lower case alphabets plus Western and Central European international characters.

Shirataki is a soft pen script with clear round letter shapes and large display capitals. Shirataki has really low contrast -it’s almost monolinear. Shirataki is a clear and friendly display script ideal for logo, signature, packaging, poster or headline purposes. Shirataki uses Contextual Alternates to keep the connections smooth and it has Swash alternates for every standard letter. There’s even more alternates in glyph palette. There’s also a set of swash endings coded in Titling Alternates and set in lowercase letters. In addition there’s a selection of strokes set in uppercase A-H. Once upon a time, in the days BC (that's Before Computers) there lived a very talented group of men and women whose job it was to render ads by hand. So skillful were these people that some say it was possible to actually identify the typefaces that the layout artists were emulating. Their renderings were swift and slick, no time for detail as it was necessary to do a whole bunch of variations, usually within ridiculous deadlines. Their only tools: bullet-tip markers and bond paper - often mistakes resulted but no time to re-do and white paint was totally unacceptable - just let the slipups be. Here's a simulation of their craft, we don't really know what typeface this was supposed to represent… any ideas?
