This script font was inspired by the type called “Bastarde Flamande”, a much appreciated one in the Duke of Burgundy’s court at the end of 1400s for handwritten books. A book titled Histoire Romaine (Roman history), from Roman author Tite Live, translated in French by Pierre Bersuire, circa 1475, was our main source for drawing the lower case characters and many of the upper case. Each character was written by hand with a quill pen on rough paper so as to look like the originals as much as possible. This font includes “long s”, naturally, as typically medieval , also a few ligatures, final and initial characters but there aren't any abbreviations because the text was written in French rather than Latin. Instructions for use are enclosed in the file and identify how to keyboard these special characters. This font can be used for web-site titles, posters, fliers, ancient looking texts, greeting cards, indeed for many types of presentations as it is a very decorative, elegant and luxurious font. Large type size shows this font at its best.

This family was inspired by the beautiful roman font used by Aldus Manutius in Venice (1499) to print for the first time Hypnerotomachia Poliphili..., the well known book attributed to Francesco Colonna. Francesco Griffo was the punchcutter. The present font contains all of the specific latin abbreviations and other ligatures used in the original. The Italic style, carved by Francesco Colonna, the so called "Aldine" style, was inspired from various documents, all printed with this first Italic font. We offer the complete set of ligatures (about 60) we have been able to find, contained in the original font. In the two styles, we have made differences between I and J, V and U, to make easier a modern use. Added are the accented characters and a few others not in use in this early period of printing. The Italic style may be used as a complement to our 1470 Jenson Latin. The font contains all characters for West European (including Celtic), Baltic, East and Central European and Turkish language.

I was inspired by the letters of the mythical “Ideales” tobacco package, designed in 1936 in Barcelona by Carlos Vives, director of the designers studio of the Rieusset graphical industry. We have also studied other geometrical models from the 1920s, to be highlighted among them the alphabet drawn by Cornelis André Vlaanderen at Amsterdam in 1928, which would have been very probably the inspiration for the famous tobacco package. Eutopia has been born with the aim to be useful for the current graphic communications. For that purpose almost 400 glyphs have been designed and more than 2200 kerning pairs have been defined. The multiple diacritic signs have been prepared to allow a multilingual use in most of the languages based on Latin alphabet. The OpenType features have been used to get alternate characters of “A” and “g”, and also ligatures, lowercase numbers and other typographic refinements.

Shout is a “Hey, Look at ME” font. It is an attention-getting font for posters, flyers and ads. Its lineage includes the Haas Type Foundry’s 19th century advertising font, Kompakte Grotesk, which Jan Tschichold (1902-1974) dryly described as “extended sans serif” and which graphic designer Roland Holst (1868-1938) would have disapprovingly referred to as a “shout,” as opposed to the quiet presentation of information that he believed was the proper function of advertising. In 1963 Letraset released what appears to be an updated variation in multiple weights designed by Frederick Lambert called Compacta. Shout draws heavily on Compacta, as well as other similar fonts of the 50s and 60s like Eurostile Bold Condensed and Permanent Headline. In weight, it falls about halfway between Compacta Bold and Compacta Black, but with a relatively heavier lower case that is not so easily pushed around by the upper case. After all, one can shout while sitting down. Shout is the first font released with our new encoding, as noted in the All_customer_readme.txt. The Euro symbol has been moved to position 128 and the Zcaron/zcaron have been added at positions 142/158 respectively. Otherwise, Shout has our usual idiosyncratic glyph selection, with the German ch/ck instead of braces, a long s instead of the Greek mu and our usual Hand-in-Hand symbol. There are also left and right glyphs of a big mouth ]ing (135/137) and left and right glyphs of an angry man shouting (172/177). Please use Shout with discretion. Folks get tired of being yelled out. Hesse Antiqua is the very first typeface designed by Gudrun Zapf von Hesse. It was a pioneering project originally created by her over 70 years ago as a set of brass punches to stamp into leather book covers and spines at the Bauer Type Foundry in Germany. In celebration of her 100th birthday on 2 January 2018, Ferdinand Ulrich and the Monotype Studio team collaborated with her to bring her brass punches to live as a digital font. Hesse Antiqua was developed with careful considerations and decisions to capture the nuance of the beautiful letterforms as they originally appeared in gold and blind stampings. We are pleased to introduce this modern OpenType typeface featuring a proper set of capitals and small capitals, figures, punctuation and some ornaments as well. A Trollkatt in Norwegian myth, is the cat associated with witches. The last few days a stray ginger cat seems to have adopted us - she comes into the house, lies down on the carpet and loves the cat food we bought her. We have posted some ‘found a cat’ messages online and hung op some flyers - just in case someone is missing a cat. Because of the stray, I decided that I should name this font something cattish, so Trollkatt is what popped up. The font is quite nice; I made it with my Chinese ink and a brush, from which I cut most of the hairs. This font won’t catch mice, but it will put some magic into your designs! And the stray cat… well, if she isn’t chipped and no one comes to fetch her, we will keep her. #happyending
