This is a relaunch version of Joost, a milestone of the Type-Ø-Tones catalogue. This revival of Joost Schmidt’s typeface now has a capital set, a new weight and some OpenType features. Not to mention alternate glyphs for M, N, Ñ, and W characters. The inspiration came from the 'bauhaus dessau im gewerbemuseum' basel exhibition poster, designed in 1929 by Franz Ehrlich after a sketch by Joost Schmidt.

PiPi is named after a happy Italian cat with a remarkable pattern, color and attitude. Designed by Andre Toet in 2011. One in the series of fonts celebrating the Halcyon Days of Handlettering. Wigwam evokes, among other things, memories of summer camps and trailer parks of a bygone day. Based on a font presented in the 1933 book Lettering of Today by W. Ben and Ed C. Hunt. Lionheart is the digitization and expansion of Saladin, a neo-gothic typeface designed by Friedrich Poppl, long after he established himself as one of the greatest German designers of all time with some of the most “ausgezeichnet” scripts and text faces to ever come out of Europe. This typeface, though lesser-known among Poppl’s other masterpieces, was one of the first in its genre to abandon blackletter influence and attempt letter variations based strictly on Roman alphabet shapes. Poppl’s idea spawned a whole generation of neo-gothics that can now be found on many a movie poster or book cover where the design must hint at secrets and dark sides. Lionheart succeeds with the idea of gradual curves leading to sharp concave or plano-concave terminals, to effectively build serious letter forms that speak of historical mystique and mystery. This font was was named after Richard I, King of England for a decade in the late 11th century. He reportedly exchanged many gifts of respect with Saladin, even though the two kings were on different sides of the Crusades. Lionheart comes in all popular font formats, with some alternates placed in accessible cells of the character set.

Apnea is a layerable type family consisting of fifty weights. It is an all caps font with a few lowercase alternatives (a, e, i, m, n, t, w, and y) thrown in for a more casual feel. The base letterforms are inspired by a painted sign I found in the garage of an old house I moved into years ago. All the hand-drawn elements were done directly in FontLab to keep them loose and playful without getting distorted or grungy. At its core Apnea consists of eight base weights (Base, Drop Shadow, Halftone, Inline Fill, Outline, Outline 3D, Shading and Shadow) that when combined, can make up the rest of the family. Bebedot originated from doodles and scrabbles in notebooks; irregular forms very well might contain a style for an alphabet. Once used for an intro spread in Wired magazine (#6.04, April 1998): "To keep up you need the right answers. To get ahead you need the right questions". The name was inspired by a women clothing poster at the San Francisco bus stands. The dot is for the com that never came.

Roswell was designed by Jim Parkinson, who acknowledges the 'spacey' ancestry of its name. Yes, Roswell, New Mexico. There was a big anniversary of 'the incident' in the news while I was designing in Roswell. "The incident" is of course the alleged UFO crash in Roswell. "I thought the name was acceptable as a serious font name, while, on another level, having a strangely humorous edge," says Parkinson. Roswell looks great in large sizes on a poster or in a magazine layout. It started out as "a variation on American gothic forms like Railroad Gothic", says the designer, but Roswell is an original design with eccentricities of its own."
