I decided to create Hebrewish because the only Hebrew Latino font I have ever seen didn't really live-up to my expectations. Each Roman letter and Arabic numeral in this font is based directly on one or more of the Hebrew characters. Originally I was tempted to create an upper case only - since there is no lower case in Hebrew that I know of. But, as this would have limited it's usefulness, I changed my mind and added a lower case also. Nevertheless, those who want to create very Hebrew looking text, need only use the upper case. I've also added some typical Judaic symbols for the artistic minded, e.g. David's star *, the Menorah ^(Jewish candelabrum) and brackets{ } based on this, as well as brackets [] which, used together, produce a 'Ten commandments' stone-tablet symbol(use this [~] for another version). In short, you can either have some fun with this font or use it for serious work - the choice is yours.

Designed by Ursula Suess over an entire year, and published in 1972, Book Jacket became an instant success story that lasted well into the 1980s (even though it was copied by Phil Martin who published it under the name Bagatelle shortly after its release). Almost 40 years later, Ursula Suess and Canada Type consolidate their talents to bring you a revised, improved and expanded digital version of this film type classic, including small caps, additional swashes and new alternative forms. It was originally inspired by my winter scarf knitting exploits. I discovered that making wool scarves was generating beautiful patterns and I wanted them to become a source of inspiration for a style. I made a few collages, and they became letters. Other characters came up with ease. It is readable, but long essays are not its main purpose. It is decorative and will look casual and very attractive on any ad as a title or a short phrase. It also demonstrates very good performance in automatic 3D generators, like Xara 3D maker, used in making examples of how this font can be utilised. It was designed to be thin, soft, with the capacity to cover empty space and to create a vibrant environment. Small characters are different from capital letters, they are stylistic alternates. Some letters are slightly ominous or dynamic, others create a soothing feeling. Using several colors make it shine, but it is complex, it looks good in monochromatic compositions as well.

When I was in high school, I would wreck my notebooks with multiple layers of graffiti tags, which would start in the margins, and then creep in to cover the entire page. I developed a sensibility towards a very fast, expressive use of my hand, which later easily and naturally translated into brush. I used this style typographically on several projects throughout the years, and even turned it into a signature illustration style. Recently, by repeating letters hundreds of times each with brush on paper, this ad-hoc brush style became Streetbrush. The style is characterized by a unique blend of urban grafitti meets Asian calligraphy. The font is best used for large titling or signage, as it is extremely detailed and really captures the feeling of a brush pulling ink across a textured surface. That said, the font will also work well for body copy, and includes most basic symbols. The font has some ligatures, mainly for legibility.

Mark van Bronkhorst designed MVB Celestia Antiqua at a time when font choice was limited. Design was characterized by overuse of the few fonts that came with laser printers. A rustic typeface, recalling the roughness and irregularity of pre-digital printing, was a response to the cold crispness of DTP. MVB Celestia Antiqua holds its own among a large group of other “weathered” serif fonts, in part due to the size of the family: three weights, small caps, italics, and two titling styles. But it's also successful because it's simply drawn well, the contours only as rough as they need to be, enabling text at any size, large or small.

Jessie's Letter is based on an old typed letter by Kerrie's great step grandmother. This letter was undated, but we think it must have been from the 1920s or so. Jessie wasn't much for punctuation, so there aren't any of those pesky question marks and exclamation points. But, she did make mistakes in her typing, so we've included cross outs and strange resulting characters to make up for the lack of everyday punctuation. Maybe Jessie wanted to visit Paris, or maybe she secretly made paintings in her back yard, or maybe she dreamed of painting her house bright pink. Well, maybe not, but it's fun to dream...
