SL Che is a homage to Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, “El Che”, who lived between 1928 and 1967. El Che turned into an universal icon through a memorable photograph which was reproduced and multiplied to the infinite. It was that way he became a synonymous of resistance, revolution and change for lots of generations. That "Che" comes back today by the hand of the genial Jorge Alderete, who designed heroic, laughing and cool variations of that popular first icon. Back in 2017, I was working on a cutout font that I originally wanted to call Scissor Madness. In the end, I named it Cut Along and it was quite a popular font for a while. This week I decided to clean up my fonts folder a bit (as I usually have tons of unfinished fonts lurking in there) and I found a file named Scissor Madness. It was the original try-out for Cut Along. It contained a couple of nice glyphs that I never used, so I started playing around with them and after a day, I had a whole new font! So, in short, Scissor Madness was partly cut out by hand, partly computer made, but it is 100% fun to use! Scissor Madness comes with a bunch of very cute discretionary ligatures.

Mono love is a monoline font made by my own hand with lots of characters up to 481 glyph. And there is also a heart that can be connected, for uppercase letters have a heart connection in front. While lowercase letters have heart connections in front and back. Mono love - includes many alternative characters. Coded with Unicode PUA, which allows full access to all additional characters without having special design software. Mac users can use Font Book. Windows users can use the Character Map to view and copy one of the additional characters to paste into your favorite text editor. 1st Ave is the most experimental of my typefaces. I took a picture of a metal and neon sign in the East Village of New York City. These signs are slowly being replaced by LED and LCD displays, but if you look hard, you can still find quite a few in the city. The signs give a mid 20th century feel to the city. To design 1st Ave, I took a picture of the sign, scanned it and increased the contrast in Photoshop so that the photographic forms became line art. There weren't enough letterforms in the sign to create the whole alphabet, so I cut up the strokes and collaged them back together to finish the entire alphabet. Important Note: 1st Ave is an experimental typeface and is not compatible with certain software such as Microsoft Word.

The place where is the castle is steeped in history. Its roots date back to the Lombard kingdom (seventh century); later it was under the rule of Monaldeschi (1200-1700) and more recently (1880) the property of the rich French banker Count Edoardo Cahen of Antwerp, who was responsible for the present aspect of the Castle. Herr Pfister was a printer in the city of Bamberg Bavaria. He is known to have published nine works. And it has been contentiously argued that he printed the “36 line Bible.” He was responsible for two innovations. The first was printing in his native German language and the second was the use of woodblock prints to add illustrations to the text. These were both first with the use of movable type. He was heavily influenced by Gutenberg’s typefaces but there are a range of notable and also subtle differences between the two men’s output. He was known to be active in the industry from about 1460 to his death in 1466. This font was specifically based on his "Biblia Paperum."

Earlier this year, my eyes fell upon a discarded wedding invitation on the sidewalk. A closer look at it revealed that it had at one point been victimized by rain. Some of the fancy script letters were not quite broken, but sort of melted and run-down, while the rest were still somewhat intact. That's how Scroll was conceived, as an idea for a script where thicks and thins blend to produce a wet appearance. Unlike most available broken scripts, the Scroll script was originally drawn in its own juiced context, and not based on any existing script. This font is great for atmospheric antiquity, deep natural poetry, still life captioning, gothic music posters and collateral, or horror literature and poetry covers.

The Neustadt font family was originally designed as a corporate font for Sport 2000, one of the leading buying groups in the European Sport Retail Industry. After it has been successfully established, it is now available in a revised version for the general market. The Neustadt family is highly legible both in print and on screen. As part of the URW++ SelecType collection, Neustadt meets very high quality standards and is available in over 30 European languages. The characters have smooth curved spines and little contrast combined with a big x-height. The form is very functional and has no unnecessary details. These characteristics make Neustadt perfectly usable for many type applications like sign posting, headlines, texts and also for branding.

I used to be a tour guide and I traveled to China numerous times. Usually, the itinerary mentioned going to a restaurant in Beijing and eating ‘Beijing Roast Duck’ (北京烤鸭), a famous dish that has been prepared since the Imperial era. Typically, the whole duck is sliced at your table. The skin is crisp, glazed and thin and you should eat it with thin pancakes and thinly sliced spring onion. Of course, if I had to guide several ‘China tours’ in a row, I would often eat something else (there is only so much Beijing Duck you can eat). Peking Duck is a nice, handmade, Chinese Ink font. Use it for your restaurant menu, your book covers or your posters, advertising oriental food!

Many current poster artists like to reference the graphic type styles that were popular in the ’60s and ’70s. Zaftig is a contemporary font that takes the geometric and blocky inspiration from that era but then steps off in a modern direction. At first glance, it may appear that the capitals of Zaftig all take up the same amount of space, but certain letters have been designed proportionally for a better flow.
