The Sussan type family is a hand lettering collection designed by Felipe Calderón. It contains sixteen different hand-drawn fonts and a set of funny illustrations designed by Jhony Velasco. On this occasion, we tried to match several font concepts to create nice pieces with them and each one is equipped with automatically exchanging alternates, ligatures, swash letters and some other feature.

Trade Gothic inline is a quirky display companion for Trade Gothic Next, offering five different voices, and a whole lot of personality. The lighter weights are graceful and elegant, embracing negative space to give the sense that the letters are halfway to disappearing. Designer Lynne Yun has incised the darker weights with a super thin inline that emphasises the heaviness of the letters, and creates a reassuring chunkiness. “If I kept the inlines the same, it created a lot of visual noise,” explains Yun. “I wanted each weight to be different enough, so in the end the weight and width of the letters was increasing and decreasing in size, and the inlines were too. Raljon is a display typeface created by designer and lettering artist Mark Robinson. It is a collaboration between the Mmarkk and Teen-Beat Graphica visual design studios. This single font was created over a period of five years. Mark took great care in finessing each character and making sure that each character would stand on its own and yet simultaneously, be an integral part of the whole. The typeface is inspired by Gothic letterforms, horror novels, speed metal bands of the 1980s, techno and electronic music of the 1990s, and Washington, DC football teams whose stadiums lie in the Maryland suburbs. Designed with help and inspiration from legendary tattoo artist Dustin Horan. This beautiful time saver was designed specifically for skin application. Short words and initials can instantly be turned into seamless tribal style tattoos. Each glyph links with the next allowing letters to flow endlessly around limbs and in circles. Respecting the rhythm and geometry principles laid forth by American pioneering tribal artist Leo Zulueta, Scribal makes flowing text shapes that disguise themselves as design. When mirrored back to back and rotated vertically, Scribal becomes well-crafted tribal pattern. Typeface wise, Scribal breaks the mold. While a script font, Scribal was designed to be written in all capitals. Each capital is a mono-spaced glyph, providing even spacing. The shape influences are also vast, ranging from scripts, to blackletters, to romans. Making Scribal a very "Americanized" font, reflective of this "Americanized" style of Tribal Tattooing.

I have seen my share of badly stuffed animals. Most of them via pictures, but also on vacations here and there. They all had this really bad handcraft vibe, but at the same time some really ordinary and kind of cute looks. I did my best to capture this look and feeling in my Badly Stuffed Animal font: clumsy letters made with a blobbly pen, with naive and irregular lines - and the conclusion is something super useful for a project that needs an organic handmade look!

Option is a modern condensed sans serif. Inspired by geometric architectural fonts. But despite the geometric construction every single letter was build based on optical evaluation. This approach makes Option more organic and lively in a text line. Option was created for wide spaces. Condensed and thin, but extremely sweeping vertically font makes your massage elegance and strong. The font functions great in many sizes and surroundings. The family comes in one weights plus italics. Creating of bold weight is underway. Options supports Cyrillic as well.

With its split serifs, Vglee looks like it could be a copy of an “Old West” font but it is not. It was constructed by taking a motif and applying it regardless of consequences. Vglee does not have lower-case letters but it does include a full set of Western and Central European accented characters. Its distinctive, odd appearance can be useful in small doses for decorative purposes. The VgleeStar style contains only the ornament. It is intended to be used in layers with Vglee.

Approach is a modern approximation to the early grotesques. An utilitarian low contrast font, a bit mechanic but plenty of character. One of its characteristic elements is a kind of ‘elbow pipe’ shape that is present in many letters like the tail of the a, f, j, t, R, Q or 1 among others. Besides, the synthetic punctuation and quotes give it a more contemporary appearance. Approach tries to feel fresh against all odds, being familiar but different. For more details see the PDF.

Orgon, a new linear typeface family, fresh and easy but with a warm touch. It appears uncomplicated, unpretentious, but still distinctive. Its quiet text flow allows smooth reading even for longer texts. The Orgon family comprises 16 styles and is well suited for ambitious typography. It comes in OpenType format with extended language support. All weights contain ligatures, small caps, superior characters, proportional lining figures, tabular lining figures, proportional old style figures, lining old style figures, matching currency symbols, fraction- and scientific numerals and matching arrows.

Traveling through the central and southern parts of Mexico a number of years ago, I couldn’t help but be impressed with the amazing architecture of the indigenous peoples. From the giant pyramids of Teotihuacan to the extensive and impressive layout of Chichén Itzá to the smaller-but-spectacular Monte Alban ruins in Oaxaca, creativity abounds. One of the things I most enjoyed were the carved stone friezes that ran around many of the more complete buildings. Oaxaca calls to mind those beautiful carvings and, strangely, Chinese writing.

Nanami Rounded Pro is the heavily engineered follow up to the hugely successful Nanami and Nanami Rounded font families. Nanami Rounded Pro contains all the wonder of the original Nanami families, but with vastly extended language support including Cyrillic and Extended Latin, leading to a total of 458 carefully crafted glyphs. The original Nanami Rounded was a key font in many a typography collection, but with these new multi-lingual credentials, Nanami Rounded Pro has become a true must-have font for anyone who’s serious about design.

Youbee is a casual serifed font that is highly legible. It has a bit of contrast, but not much. It could be used as book text, but is better suited for less formal uses such as newsletters and pamphlets. Youbee gets its name from it origin, the Ultimate Blend (UB) of four very different typefaces: Euroika, Ingriana, BetterTypeRight, and KampFriendship. The earliest members of the family were constructed in 1996, with a shadow version added in 2011, extra weights in 1999, and two different widths in 2022.

I don’t have a sweet tooth myself, but I do like toffee! One of my favourite desserts is English Sticky Toffee Pudding, so I really had to name a font after this delicacy. Sticky Toffee is a bold display font. It’s all caps (in case you might have missed that), but upper and lower case differ and can be used together to create a more ‘natural’ look. Sticky Toffee comes in two great styles: Regular and Sprinkles, and has all the diacritics you’ll need.

My son Sam’s birthday is coming up and we need to think of a cake. He’s old enough not to want a themed cake, but I suddenly remembered that we gave him a dinosaur cake for his second birthday! Dinosaur Cake? That’s a totally cool name for a font! So here it is: Dinosaur Cake - The Font. It’s a cute little handmade font, which looks like it was cut out of paper, but I have to disappoint you this time: it was not cut out.

I don’t think I’m a capricious person, but right now, due to the enormous amount of renovation work on our home, I do get bad moods quite often! Capricious is a hand painted all-caps font: I used my favourite Chinese ink, a brush and very rough paper to get the desired ‘eroded’ effect. It is quite a heavy display font, so I wouldn’t really set a text in it, but it works really well for headlines, catching titles and products that need some pepper!

DrivEddie was an attempt to create a rough, hand-drawn typeface that was quirky but easily readable. It has a few serifs so it is almost but not quite san serif. All vertical stems are curved. For almost 25 years DrivEddie was a one-font family and one-font families often have limited applications. In 2020 I returned to this typeface to increase its possible uses by adding five new styles: italic, semibold, semibold-italic, bold, and bold-italic. I also corrected mistakes and added characters.

Dubbel Zout in Dutch means ‘Double Salt’. I admit, it sounds better in Dutch… Dubbel Zout is a kind of licorice which we (in Holland) love! Not many people actually like it, but I know of one addict in Denmark, who eats it by the bagful. Dubbel Zout is a ‘crayon-ish’ font - all caps, different upper and lower glyphs that you can mix and a royal assortment of diacritics. It may be an acquired taste, but once you get used to it, you’re hooked!

Toshiko is an experimental typeface which mixes techno and traditional designs, creating a straight edged but curly serif font. The characters themselves are very carefully crafted, with precise, accurate lines and predictable forms, but the serifs, as well as the indecision between curved and square corners, gives the font an impression of unpredictability that shows off its creative freedom. Whether you’re looking to brand something technological or express rebellion, Toshiko can create the mix of conformist and nonconformist that will draw readers into interest and attentiveness.

Rockeby SemiSerif is a font family that joins a well known collection - Rockeby Typography Toolbox. Curve is a modern neo-classical typeface family with some features of the Didone genre, but especially designed for contemporary typography. A large x-height not only creates space in the letters for extra-bold styles, but also lends Curve an open and generous character in the more narrow and semi-bold versions. Curve is a contemporary serif typeface, special for logos, brands, magazines and editorial and for setting trends in fashion and design.

I’m not trying to be sarcastic or ironic. But after looking at fridge magnets, postcards, posters and stickers with clever words about love and happiness, I suddenly found them all cheesy. You may have guessed it by now: I’m not into clever words like those…but I do respect if they brighten someones’s life. This font, however, was made to brighten people’s life by being great as a soft, handmade and organic headline font! Use for your favourite quotes, or whatever needs a legible and clear presentation!
