This font was originally meant to be my last creation of 2022, but as it turned out, it was the first font of 2023 instead! Why? Well, because it took me a lot of time to complete the 150 different swahes letter combinations, the 182 different letters (not counting numbers, accented characters etc) the small caps, the subscript and the multilingual support! Anyway, it was worth the work - the Frequent font works great as a display font, or whatever you have in mind. Play around with the different versions (Regular, Solid and Inside) for great results.

I seem to be in my comic book font fase. It's not that I have tons of comics lying around (I actually have none), but when I was a kid, I used to read them all the time. Laser Eyes is a handmade comic book font. It is a little rounded, a little fat and very useful. You don't really have to put it to work in an actual comic book; it will feel at home just about anywhere. The inspiration for Jeeves came from Leslie Carbarga's wonderful book LETTERHEADS, One Hundred Years of Great Design, 1850-1950. It was based on a secondary type usage for the letterhead for Sutherland in New York. The rest of the letterhead had features that were more typical of the Art Deco period, but this script added a touch of timeless elegance. And since at the time I was reading every scrap of P.G. Wodehouse I could get my hands on, the name Jeeves seemed like a perfect fit. The font is loaded with a plethora of extra glyphs, ligature characters and OpenType features.

I've been obsessed with type since I was very young, says designer Pelle Piano. “In fact, when I was ten, I used to sneak into stores who sold Letraset sheets, and I actually stole their catalog with all the typefaces. They were perfect good-night stories for me - alphabet after alphabet!” In ITC Lingo, Piano tried out the effect of taking a very rigid underlying letter shape and representing it with “really sloppy outlines.” The underlying form is a condensed Bodoni-like alphabet, with high contrast between thick and thin strokes, but the effect of Lingo is sketchy and informal.

This font was inspired by the notion that he felt the need to protect his communications from people with the ability to read; a rare skill then. Did he really command such a script to exist? He did instigate the development Carolingian minuscule script. Here are two different systems that are both attributed to him. Does it provide any real security? Tabarnak started out as an assessment and correction of an old concept by George Wilkens. The original idea was for a bold upright alphabet reminiscent of Oz Cooper’s work, but ornamented with some shocard/signage traits. That idea was radically redrawn and reinvented to become a simple 21st century font made to turn heads and induce a friendly rush. Tabarnouche is Tabarnak’s “jittery” incarnation. Just as great for packaging as they are for ads, posters, book and magazine covers, both Tabarnak and Tabarnouche come with about 600 characters, including tons of alternates, and support for the majority of Latin-based languages.

The rounded Serif with edges. Olivia Serif got curves on the outlines and edges on the inlines. So it can be very legible and space efficient at the same time: the curves keep the distinctions between the letters, the corners keep the influences from broadnibbed pens with a subtle horizontal stress for great legibility. Olivia has personality without being obtrusive. Three weights (light, regular, bold) are equipped with real italics, SmallCaps, different sets of figures, accents for almost every latin script, arrows, symbols. A Tarte Tatin is a French upside down apple pie. The story goes that one of the Tatin sisters (who ran Hôtel Tatin in Lamotte-Beuvron 169 km south of Paris), was baking a regular apple pie, but put the apples first and, realising her mistake, tried to rescue the dish by adding the pastry and sticking it in the oven. Tarte Tatin is a really nice all caps font. It was made with a Japanese brush pen on rough paper. Tarte Tatin comes with extensive language support and a set of alternates for the lower case letters.

Kaizena is a modern script font with alternates, final form, stylistic sets, including front and back swashes. It can be used for various purposes, and suitable for logo design, branding, greeting cards, stationery, wedding invitations and much more. The design of Kaizena nuanced Japanese style, but it is very feasible to use in modern themed designs. Kaizena uses OpenType Features, so designers can access alternate glyphs easily with graphic design softwares. Besides that, these alternate glyphs are located in Private Use Area, so they can be accessed easily with Character Map, Babel Map, or font manager softwares.

Zapatista is derived from a typeface that I designed in 1998 but never released. It is a playful slab serif with a texture that is sometimes subtle and reminiscent of the irregularities of letterpress printing. Like a fine wine, this face has been aged to perfection and is now ready for public consumption. It includes a full character set with accented characters as well as a second full set of alternate uppercase, lowercase, and numbers. OpenType makes it easy to mix and match the two sets of letters to create custom designs. It's like having 2 fonts in one!

Kono is a font straight from the modern, gritty, warfare computer game genre. Rough and ready, with letters that double as numbers and look fit to be sprayed on a bunker wall, Kono brings you a bleak example of the near-future, where pragmatism rules out over artistry. Kono itself, ironically, is stylistically crafted to capture this feeling, carefully selecting the perfect mix between flat, straight lines and rounded corners, using wide, squat characters to mimic practical architectural styles. Kono is great for capturing a bleak but somewhat heroic attitude, whether you want to use that to encourage optimism or advertise pessimism.

Eckhardt Relaxed JNL was modeled from an example of a casual, hand lettered alphabet from a page of a vintage textbook. This style of freehand lettering always lends itself well to posters, show card and sign work, but is equally at home in ad design or titling. The typeface is an addition to the group of type styles inspired by sign lettering, and is named for Jeff Levine's good friend, the late Al Eckhardt; whose shop turned out quality hand lettering from 1959 until his passing in 2005. Eckhardt Relaxed JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A ‘Brochette’ in French is a skewer. I used to be a tour guide and some years ago, I guided a couple of tours in Mali. Every night at dinner we had the choice of a ‘Brochette de Capitaine’ (grilled Nile perch on a skewer) or a ‘Brochette de Bœuf’ (grilled beef on a skewer). Of course, every night the Brochette came with French fries and ‘petits pois’ (peas). It was really nice, but after 4 months of eating Brochettes, I longed for something different! Brochette is a very nice rounded font. It comes with curls, swirls and swashes.

Macho has a complex nature. He’s a true “gentle giant”. He kicks asses as a splendid fighter, but also, being a gentle lover, leaves girls breathless. You can count on him in any situation and it’s always good to have him by your side. The brave Macho supports all Latin languages, as well as Cyrillic. His família consists of nine weights plus matching italics. It is stuffed up with various OpenType features such as small capitals, fractions, local forms, ordinals, alternates, ligatures and a full set of superscript and subscript glyphs. The name FeggoliteHatched comes from the fact that it was created with the help of an old font manipulation program called Incubator Pro. It was an attempt to create a more conventional typeface from the odd monospaced font, FeggoliteMono. As a monospaced font, FeggoliteHatched could be considered a typewriter face, but no typewriter ever produced letters like these. The original version from 1994 is now the italic style and it has a leftward or back slant. The upright or plain version was added much later, in 2018. There is also a choppy upright version included in this family.

Dambera is a made up word I used as planet name in my first comic published in a kids magazine when I was 6 years old. Dambera font has pretty similar reference - it's a simple script font I initially designed for wedding invitations and restaurant menus, but it can have wide appliance in every design field, from posters, book covers, outdoor signes to labels and packages. It contains a set of stylistic ligatures and swash alternates, as well as a small set of floral dingbats. Also contains a set of characters with specific endings (in OpenType terminology, better known under FINA term).

Mello is a bold, easy going Grotesque. It was designed for display, branding, advertising, packaging or anywhere a strong but friendly voice is needed. Radiant font was designed by Robert Hunter Middleton in 1938 and first appeared with the Ludlow Typograph Company. It displays the strong stroke contrast typical of transitional antiquas but has no serifs.
