  1. TessiePuzzlePieces by Ingrimayne Type, $9.00
After exploring tessellations for several years, I decided to see how many ways I could tessellate puzzle pieces. I began with a square template and used the same asymmetrical shape for all four edges. By flips or rotation each edge could be fitted in four ways. Eventually I discovered that, given this way of forming tiles, there were 15 distinct shapes that tessellate and these shapes can take a total of 96 orientations. (A note in the November 2016 issue of Mathematical Gazette has the proof for the 15 shapes.) This typeface contains those 15 shapes and 96 orientations. A pdf note here shows some of the tilings possible using only one shape in a pattern. An unlimited number of patterns are possible if shapes are mixed. There are two members of the family, a solid style that must have different colors when used and an outline style. They can be used separately or they can be used in layers with the outline style on top of the solid style. For rows to align properly, leading must be the same as point size. (Earlier tessellation fonts from IngrimayneType, the TessieDingies fonts, lack a black or filled version so cannot do colored patterns.)
  2. Avaline Script by Kimmy Design, $20.00

Its playful letterforms come in Light, Regular, Bold and Sketch, and it comes with tons of language support and fun alternatives. Packed with OpenType features, Avaline comes together to make a truly authentic hand script family package. Stylistic alternatives offer completely different styles for all capital and some lowercase letters. Swashes provide numerous flourish options for ascending & descending letters as well as characters that start or end text lines. Small caps and titling alternatives provide great secondary text options, converting the script letterforms to more proportional small cap ones. Avaline also comes with a massive set of extras, including catchwords, swashes & flourishes, arrows, borders, line breaks, laurels and frames. 7. Baka Expert by Positype, $25.00
Why Baka Expert? There’s actually a simple answer. The original Baka was done as an experiment of sorts. I wanted to quickly capture a rough, frenetic handwriting style that broke normal conventions. Commercially, it was successful, received some accolades ... but I wasn’t completely satisfied, so I went back to the master art and the lettering explorations and produced Baka Too. This addressed some of the line items I wanted to refine in Baka. I liked it. Each font has been out for a few years now, and I have seen them in use. I’m very critical of my work, and I could still see things—modulations of strokes, angle of the nib, ink swell, and so on—that I wanted to change, refine, and reorder. For me, it is typographic indulgence, but I wanted to take this handwriting ‘font’ and turn it into a robust ‘typeface.’ So I did just that and a bit more by adding back more of my initial flourish concepts; attaining tighter, consistent control of the modulation; optimizing points; adding titling options; and expanding the character language set. Baka and Baka Too had to exist to produce this entirely new re-envisioning of an old friend ... and they all play well together :)
  8. Trump Gothic Pro by Canada Type, $39.95
Trump Gothic is a reconception of ideas from Georg Trump's seminal 1955 Signum typeface and its later reworking (Kamene) by Czech designer Stanislav Marso. Originally cobbled together for a variety of film projects in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Trump Gothic family was made available for the general public in 2005. Shortly thereafter, it became a common sight in movie credits, on posters and magazine covers, in fashion branding and on corporate web sites. Though countless attempts have been made to emulate it, its unique totality and attractiveness to layout designers was never really topped. Its appeal is largely due to its double-duty toolbox: An economic functionality that allows it to pack large amounts of information in small spaces, and a clear, modular aesthetic that gives it the ability to emphasize short text in large sizes, all without sacrificing legibility or giving in to dated or over-rehashed industrial gothic forms. The typeface was redrawn, refitted, optimized and greatly expanded in 2013, and the result is Trump Gothic Pro, a multiscript family of six fonts, each containing over 1020 glyphs and a wealth of OpenType features, including small caps, caps-to-small-caps, stylistic alternates, unicase/monocase alternates, fractions, ordinals, class-based kerning, and support for Latin, Cyrillic and Greek locales.
  9. Preto Serif by DizajnDesign, $24.00
Preto is an extensive type family, which explores the function of serifs on readability and legibility. Preto consist of three subfamilies: Sans, Semi and Serif. Preto is designed for multilingual typesetting. All of the subfamilies have equal gray value but different texture which can be use to differentiate languages. Preto sub-families have two text weights and two bold styles (Regular -> Bold, Medium -> Black). Every weight has a companion Italic style as well. The serif version has been designed to work best at small point sizes (around 8, 9 points). You will not achieve calm, boring or invisible look of your text with Preto Serif. Its long, spiky and sharp serifs contribute to give the typeface a distinct and energetic character. It is very suitable for magazines, corporate identity, brochures or other print materials where a typeface for continuous reading is required. The ligatures in Preto Serif are very special. You can set them in different tracking values and spacing will increase/decrease consistently in the ligatures as well. Alternative characters in the font files allow you to change the feeling of the text from typical to more special (J, Q, g , &). Each font contains a full set of small caps and many alternative characters for complex typesetting.
  10. Berryfield by Missy Meyer, $12.00
Berryfield started as an experiment: making a font entirely out of geometric shapes. It started with a couple of circles and a couple of rectangles, and was constructed entirely from those parts, and parts made from those parts! For the uppercase, I took style inspiration from the heavy serif classics. But when it came time to create the lowercase set, I took a sharp turn and looked to fun unicase fonts, creating uppercase-height lowercase letters, in addition to uppercase alternates. When I finished Berryfield Regular, I liked it so much I made a lighter version (almost like a typewriter font), and a heavier version, to give you even more variety! Each font in the family contains over 520 characters, including over 300 extended Latin characters for language support. There are also a number of alternate letters to choose from, as well as superscript ordinals (ST, ND, RD, and TH), all of which are PUA-encoded for easy access no matter what design program you're using. Berryfield was a ton of fun to make, and I hope you have a ton of fun using it! It's smooth and easy for both print and crafting; the uppercase alone is straightforward enough for a magazine headline, but combining in the lowercase makes it quirky and fun.
  11. Dress by Typesenses, $39.00
Influenced by the ornamented capitals found in late nineteenth century specimens, this layered font was designed to decorate publication covers, labels, stationery or any other piece that needs to be embellished. This family intends to dress any work. Started up by the author’s hand, Dress is a professional work, accurate, well spaced, with ligatures and alternates for uppercases, initials, endings and figures. Each variable contains more than 1200 glyphs with plenty of OpenType features and extensive Western, Central and Eastern European language support. Use professional software that widely support Open Type features. Otherwise, you may not have access to some glyphs. For further information about features and alternates, see the User Guide The main member of this family is the Base font which can be used alone or decorated with the layers: Shade One or Shade Two, Inline One or Inline Two and Outline. In this way, experienced designers will create their own combinations. On the other hand, there are multi-layered fonts that make Dress easier to use: Dress Combo One to Five. Additionally, Dress Deco adorns the beginning and the ending of the words, while the Ornaments decorates the whole design. The family package contains all this thirteen options. Dress matches very well with Limon Script Let’s Dress your work!
  12. Glance Slab by Identity Letters, $29.00
Dynamic and sportive. A well-balanced experiment for sparkling headlines. Glance Slab is an experimental design that plays on the tension between connection and detachment. In this typeface, serifs may be detached and some strokes may not connect to their stems. This creates a dynamic impression of balance and movement. The elegance of an ice skater and the determination of a quarterback: Glance Sans has it all. Where a curve meets a stem and where serifs seem to “hover” near their respective letters, the nonjoining elements create an impression similar to a stencil typeface. But here, the function of the gaps differs from strictly stencil designs: while the gaps provide a “sparkling” effect in Glance Slab that’s clearly visible in large sizes, they take on the role of ink traps when set smaller, making for surprisingly legible body copy. With its strong visual character, this font family is quickly recognizable, making it perfectly suitable for branding and any large-scale application, such as posters, billboards, and event signage. Glance Slab consists of seven weights from Thin to Black. Each style has a character set of about 570 glyphs, which includes circled numbers and arrows (positive and negative versions), ligatures, extended language support, and many other features.
  13. Philadelphian by FontMesa, $29.00
Philadelphian is a revival of a MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan font from 1867 by the same name. The regular version with shadow outline was the only style that was offered in 1867. We've taken the original design further by creating two additional weights of medium and bold plus plain black versions. The medium and bold weights are unique because only the horizontal strokes increase in thickness while the vertical strokes remain the same in each weight. Philadelphian Nite is the plain black version of this font family, Nite is the casual spelling of the word Night meaning dark or black. In the late 1800's Philadelphian was a very popular typeface which can be seen on many billheads and letterheads through the early 1900's. If you're looking for a western style font that doesn't look like any other then Philadelphian is the right choice. While the name doesn't remind you of the cowboy genre we've kept the original name for historical reasons because this font was so popular in its day. We plan on going forward with a weathered version of Philadelphian which will be released under a southwestern style name. With Philadelphian we've decided to set the complete family price to an amount that may be considered on sale all of the time.
  14. Churchward Typestyle by BluHead Studio, $25.00
Churchward Typestyle is a clean sans serif font, originally designed as a photo font by Joseph Churchward back in 2002. Under exclusive license, BluHead Studio has digitized this typeface by using his original drawings. We added any missing glyphs, being careful to maintain the aesthetic that makes this a classic Churchward design. Joseph intended this to be a six weight family, so we digitized the Light and Ultra Bold weights and interpolated the middle four. We enhanced the functionality of the family by creating a complimentary set of small caps, as well as creating a 10 degree oblique of each weight, being careful to correct the slanted curve forms of the letters. Churchward Typestyle is now an extensive 12 weight family, ranging in weights from Light to Ultra Bold, making it extremely useful in a broad range of design applications, from text and print, to display, posters and billboards. It’s sanserif design is clean and open, with a few of those characteristic Churchward goodies. Joseph loved his ink traps, so look for many of those! They especially become more apparent in the heavier weights. All of the Churchward Typestyle fonts support the major Western European languages, and have OpenType features for ligatures, smallcaps, tabular figures, superiors, inferiors, fractions, and ordinals.

  18. Yolk by Monotype, $31.99
Yolk is an Eggcentric Sans Serif Typeface consisting of nine weights in both roman and italic. Essentially, this is a geometric sans typeface that has been inspired by the shape and proportions of an egg. With its bottom-heavy glyphs, Yolk has an unusual personality – it’s not too awkward to be off-putting, and it’s not too uniform to be associated with the myriad of generic geometric sans fonts that are available. Yolk has a distinctive presence in its upright form, while the italics exude a more flamboyant nature. When combined, your typographic results will be pleasing and perhaps a little quirky too. This 18-font type family achieves a good balance of personality, versatility, and usability. Small Caps are available at the click of a button, then add Stylistic Set 1 to achieve Petite Caps. The petite caps harmonise with the regular lowercase forms, so that you can create unicase-style typography too. All Latin-based languages are covered within the 1000+ glyphs of each Yolk font. Key Features: • 18 font family – 9 weights in Roman and Italic • Small Caps, Petite Caps, with Proportional, Old Style, and Small Cap figures, plus Fractions, Numerators, Denominators, Superiors, and Inferiors • Full European character set (Latin Extended) • 1,000+ glyphs per font.

  26. Phiz by Shinntype, $29.00
Phiz is a diverse suite of 28 decorative fonts based on Figgins Sans Extra Bold. Classic (10 fonts), Rounded (7 fonts), Rough (4 fonts) and Particles (7 fonts). The Rough and Particles styles emerge as a unique niche—neither imitating distressed printing (e.g. the “rusty” look), nor casual, hand-drawn styles. These type designs are conceived and executed as complex algorithmically-generated graphic procedures, in which repetitive elements have been artfully applied to the Sans capitals, and manually nuanced. As such they also differ substantially from textured glyph shapes that have been cut out from larger pattern fields, for the constituent particles are disposed in relation to the specific shape of each character they define. The caps-with-small-caps format was chosen for two reasons. Firstly, titling display usage is predominantly capitals, and secondly, rather like optical scaling, having the same resolution of texture available in two different “sizes” (upper and lower case) should prove useful in the hierarchy of page layout—not primarily for setting upper and lower case text as caps-with-small-capitals, although this is of course an option. All figures and major symbols (punctuation and currency) are provided in both cap and small cap height.

If you're looking for a warm typeface that's affable without straying into cliché, then Kamber is your new best friend – like the labrador of typefaces. Kamber's balanced yet quirky nature makes for a fun and interesting display face, without compromising on legibility at smaller sizes. The lowercase letters have an elevated x-height, sitting at around 70% of the cap height – this means running copy remains clear and readable. Available in 8 weights, each with a corresponding italic, Kamber is a widely functional typeface that can hold it's own, regardless of the use case. It includes all the usual open type features for further adaptation and variation, including small caps, ligatures, stylistic alternates and more. The primary numerals are lining figures, but tabular figures, old style figures, and a combination of both are also included. If you're looking for something to stand out from the sea of overly geometric faces and soulless helvetica variants, then Kamber is ready and waiting. Perfect for editorial design, branding or anywhere you use text – Kamber is the typeface that smiles.

  35. Getaway Car by Hanoded, $15.00
When I am working on a new font, I usually play some music, or have a song in my head. When I was working on this font, an Audioslave song called Getaway Car was playing in my head. Again: naming a font is not that difficult! Getaway Car was made with a cheap brush and expensive Chinese ink. It is an all caps font, ideally suited for posters, book covers and designs that need a bold, rough & ready look.

The main features are the informal and wired look that make it worthwhile for bands and informal invitations, flyers, for concerts or infantile designs.
