Wedding Regular was originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF and released as Wedding Text in 1901. It is a lighter version of his ENGRAVER'S OLD ENGLISH of the same period. Wedding Regular is based on the Textura style of blackletter that continued in popularity in England into the 16th century, long after the Dutch, French and Italians had moved to a Roman model that expressed the Renaissance humanism of the period. Wedding Headline is a still lighter version of the regular text face, suitable for setting larger sizes while still preserving the delicacy of the decorative hairlines. Textura continues in use in England and the United States for newspaper mastheads, gift shop signs, wedding invitations and programs and other applications where a feeling of tradition is desired. I recently saw an 1980ish photo of a “Tubby Isaac” sign in London using textura. I believe Benton’s design captures that feeling without being heavy-handed and still remaining quite readable for eyes accustomed to Roman lettering. Both Wedding Regular and Wedding Headline convey a comfortable familiarity. These two fonts may be purchased together at an attractive discount or they may be purchased separately. Write like the inventor of the diesel engine — it’s possible with the Diesel Rudolf Script (patterned after the original handwriting of Rudolf Diesel)... In 2008 the city of Augsburg and the MAN Group celebrated the 150th birthday of Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine which was named after him. With the help of a few preserved original letters, it was possible to create a convincing digital version of Rudolf Diesel’s personal handwriting. The engineer and inventor Rudolf Diesel was born in Paris in 1858 and also went to school there. In1870 his family moved to England and Rudolf was sent to relatives in Augsburg where he continued going to school. Later, after completing his studies in Munich, he began working as an engineer in the machine factory Linde. Alone this part of his life makes clear why Rudolf Diesel’s handwriting was so ”jerky,“ hesitant and inconsistent. He learned to write according to the French style, that is, Latin cursive — completely different from the very correct and neat German handwriting taught at that time which he had to learn at 13 years of age. These circumstances explain why his handwriting is ”messy“ (especially for those days) with its mixtures of letter forms within a text, even within individual words. Plus, he obviously did not attach much importance to ”pretty writing.“ Sometimes the characters are wide, then narrow, sometimes large and clear and then again crammed and primitive. The individuality is emphasized with characteristics derived from quill and ink. Here's a great old face from the H. W. Caslon foundry in London; a real workhorse. The lowercase is eminently readable, so you can set entire paragraphs to good effect. We don't recommend it for setting all caps, but we did take time to kern it well; so you won't get a jumble of ovelapping letters if you do.

I don't know what other typedesigners call those long swirling embellishment, but I call them "Monkeytails". So when I decided on this version of my good old Royal Bavarian, I decided to call the new font "Monkeytails". I just fell in love with this name. Diotima Classic is a total upheaval for the 21st century of Gudrun Zapf von Hesse's mid-20th-century Diotima, one of the most beautiful types ever cast in metal. Its roots lay in a calligraphic sheet written by Gudrun Zapf von Hesse. The text was the Hyperion to Diotima" by Friedrich Hölderlin; Diotima is the name of a Greek priestess in Plato's dialogue about love. In the philosopher's imagination, she should appear slim and beautiful. In 1948, Gudrun Zapf von Hesse finished the typeface's Roman. The Diotima family was released as a metal typeface for hand setting by D. Stempel AG in 1951-53. This original Diotima is a festive design particularly suited to invitations, programs, and poems. The delicate Italic drew attention to text passages that should be emphasized. Linotype's previous digital Diotima only had one weight, which looked great in display sizes, but was too thin for text setting. Diotima Classic has four weights. The new Regular has more robust serifs and thicker hairlines, making it more appropriate for text sizes. The Diotima variation with finer serif remains under the name Light. Gudrun Zapf von Hesse also took the opportunity in 2008 to add an extremely heavy weight to the family. In comparison to the old Diotima, letterforms of the Diotima Classic are more harmonious and balanced. The rhythm of the Italic letters in Diotima Classic is more consistent. The lining figures of the Diotima Classic align with caps, and the letter spacing of the tabular lining figures in Diotima Classic is significantly better. The forms of the figures have been improved as well."

Hopeless Diamond is a contemporary display typeface inspired by the sculptural muscle of 19th century carved lettering and the radical forms of the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber and the F-117 Nighthawk stealth strike aircraft. The typeface itself contains three different styles, each with an italic and an alternate character set that can be used to generate a number of interesting permutations. The name was taken from the derisive term that test pilots used for Have Blue, a late '70s stealth demonstration aircraft –and early prototype for the F-117— designed and built by Lockheed's Skunkworks division. Due to its unusual shape and departure from received aerodynamic wisdom, Have Blue was referred to as the ‘Hopeless Diamond’.

Front Desk is designed to be easily readable, its increased legibility coming from the slightly enlarged lower case letters (a greater x-height) which make it easy on the eye. Also it is slightly slanted (but a lot less than a normal italic angle) to give it a more informal and modern look than a perfectly upright font would be, which is also intended to contribute extra dynamism while reading. Five available weights give adequate variation, and there are some Condensed and Expanded varieties in the complete set. A primary feature of this font is that the serif bases and tops are not indented or concave, which gives clear straight edges to the serifs, and the removal of this complexity adds to the clean lines and crispness of the font. Typoskript AR is based on a metal type which was produced in 1968 by VEB Typoart, Dresden, from a design of the German calligrapher and lettering artist Hildegard Korger. It bears all the qualities of the artist’s inimitable style which will be immediately recognizable to anyone who’s familiar with her Handbook of Type and Lettering (Lund Humphries, 1992) (Schrift und Schreiben, Leipzig, Fachbuchverlag, 1971). The ARTypes transcription retains the roughness of the artist’s pen on paper as it was featured in the original type, as well as the letterfit, ch, ck and f-ligatures.
