A personal handwriting done in pencil. Conté Script is a computer font but has the extraordinary look of handwriting. The typeface is exceedingly lively, diversified and distinct thanks to more than 300 different ligatures, i.e. letter combinations. As a practicing graphic designer there have been numerous occasions when I have needed a font that didn’t exist. More often than not the style I was looking for was described as an extra-condensed sans-serif with a contemporary look that was available in a variety of weights. Small caps would be useful, so would a range of numeral styles. And matching italics too, of course. The proportions would consider viewing on hand-held devices, cell phones, remote controllers. And not forgetting that the font would be used in situations which required stacking the lines close. So the overshoots needed to be eliminated – the exaggeration of extremities that are intended to avoid round characters appearing smaller than their more squarish counterparts, often colliding when linespacing is tight. As I refined the design, I tested it on several works-in-progress providing a valuable testing ground and proving popular with my clients.

Typefaces don't simply appear fully formed to a designer, even with a clear concept in mind, they evolve naturally during the design & development process. Zombie Apocalypse is way more versatile as its name would suggest. It might be used as a horror font (red color tones in horror games, movie covers) or in ads for an Offroad Experience Tour (or wherever it comes to dirt, mud and spatters in combination with brown tones). When used with light blue/red/yellow/orange colors, the font can express creativity and freedom (on fashion, inspirational art and advertising) because it is not bound to classic straight-lined fonts. In various shades of gray or in black, it can be used to support a "worn out" look. Zombie Apocalypse - with its "worn out" look and many details - is espacially designed for use with large font sizes, for example in high resolution print media or in large images on digital media. OmegaPixel Font Description I created this font for the game Hyper Ninja Blast (but made it useful to all kinds of games!). While creating the game, I searched for pixel fonts, but could not find a suitable one. The fonts were generally ugly and lacking the basic variations (italic and bold). So I decided to create my own pixel font. Just as pixel art can be better than a high-resolution painting, so pixel fonts don’t need to be always worse than traditional fonts. In OmegaPixel I tried to achieve elegance, readability and flexibility within the limitations of a 6 pixel x-height. With 4 versions (regular, italic, bold and bold italic), and a neutral feel, OmegaPixel can be used in any genre of games. Considering the general lack of money among indie game devs, I’m giving the regular version for free! For inspiration, I often remebered Minion’s lowercase ‘a’, Galliard italic lowercase ‘g’, and the calligraphy of Chinese emperor Huizong.

Typefaces for newspapers, announcements, cheap advertising and police posters.  Mr Palker and Mr Palkerson will turn every language into a fence. And due to six types of faces one can choose what material should the fence be made from — from Thin steel rods to   the Black stone blocks. In their simplest appearance Mrs P&P are  intended for the solid blank composition in victorian or industrial style. They are quite decent, a bit old-fashioned slab serif and grotesque with closed aperture. All my types have layers. Walker and Palkerson also do. Besides the standard set of symbols, they have 4 add-ons. 1. Alternate glyphs, including unicase ones. 2. Ligatures with A letter. 3. Extra tall small caps. 4. Two-storey ligatures. All this options are intended for the complex composition. The additional letters are rather eccentric as their main function here is to imitate the victorian oddities. Imitate, parody, just not repeat. There are lower-case As and Es in the set in height of small caps and uppercases. They can turn every writing into the unicase.    The lower-case A (as well as uppercase and small caps version of it) has deliberately by my taste grown a ludicrous tail. To compensate it I’ve built all the possible ligatures - ад, ал, ая. There are 35 of this ligatures all together. Take a closer look at the Russian letters D, L, K, Ya from the main set as well as their alternates. The additional glyphs are one more comic than the other — on purpose to imitate (not to repeat!) the victorian set. This sets have lowercase numbers. And small caps numbers as well. What a modern typeface without them. They also have an У-letter with a generously curvy tail. As if before the WWI. The Latin of course has alternates as well. It has letters to make the perfect French sound more like the russian provincial version of it. The tails of Js and Ts can be made a little bit more open — or a little bit closed. My favorite feature here, an invention of a kind - extra tall small caps. It allows to compose logos with the small caped uppercases directly from the keyboard. The small caps of this typefaces are usually much taller than the customary ones. This is the kind of small caps that Palker and Palkerson have. More to that, the strokes’ weight and the letters width are corresponded to the uppercases. Just a ready set for making a logo a la 1913 style. With a unicase, one has to mind! One more trick with the tall small caps is a possibility to make them work like lower uppercases. Their height is just in between of lower- and uppercases. Isn’t it great to have an additional set of uppercase working ponies in stock for the case of emergency. And finally — the trademark of Palkers family, two-storey ligatures. They are made in the height of uppercases and turn every writing into an ornament or a puzzle of a kind, while at the same time making them much shorter. Each face has 90 of them. Road Stencil is a font based on painted street markings. The letters are stretched roughly six times their normal height so that when viewed from an angle, the text is seen as proportional. If you're looking to Photoshop a street scene, this is your font. This is an all caps font, but the letters were copied to lower-case for convenience. In these forms, I've preferred to use horizontal and diagonal dividers instead of verticals which can weaken the fonts readability. This font embodies a pleasant aesthetic while maintaining a coherent and believable feel. Check out the 'Rough' version of this font, which has more of a 'drawn on asphalt' look. The rough version's lower case letters have eroded alternates.

This family was created inspired from the first font carved and cast in France, for the Sorbonne University’s printing workshop (Paris). The characters were drawn by Jean Heynlin, rector of the university - inspired from Pannartz’s - and in all probability was carved by Adolf Rusch. It has only one style, in one size (about 14 Didots points). We have added the U, J, W and Y, some accented characters and others not in use in the original, but the standard and historical ligatures and the numerous Latins abbreviations are these of the original font. Ezekiel Script is the font become flesh—mythic gesture imposed upon forms of mechanical medium. Typography has changed the internet; our phasing mimetic desires tend toward posture rather than rationale, and the face is a concept that explores that concept. The script has ample diacritic extensions, as well as an alternative for the ampersand (characteristic of MYSTERIAN type) and the eszette: an upper and lower case. The upper and lower case alphabets are diverse in that the majuscules do not have linking strokes while the miniscules do. This was the first script that I've made, and great attentiveness was taken to ensure that links were set accurately, and spacing harmonious throughout.

Blue Sugar is a grunge font which has one letter-shape in white set within a different grunge letter-shape in black. The Regular and Dirty versions have their characters in conventionally upright positions; and there are 3 varieties with the characters in various states of disorder and at slightly varied angles and sizes - called Twirled and Whirled. Crepe Paper JNL is an alphabet-only novelty font that creates a wavy ribbon headline with a vintage wood type alphabet that somewhat resembles an unfurled stretch of crepe paper. The upper case A-Z keys will produce a white ribbon banner with black letters, while the lower case a-z keys are white letters on a black background.
