The title and credits for the 1951 Dick Powell and Rhonda Fleming film “Cry Danger” were hand lettered in a freehand brush lettering often seen on store signs and show cards. Serving as the model for Show Card Freehand JNL, this pleasant and casual typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The July 26, 1934 of the movie industry trade paper The Film Daily contained an ad for Paramount promoting its most recent releases. Hand lettered in an ultra bold Art Deco sans serif style, it was the working model for Self Promotion JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Cortex was designed for Shanghai Word Expo 2010 / A.A.D.I Pavilion corporate identity: signage, corporate communication, graphic design (a 120 pages monography), promotional items, etc. It was inspired by the pavilion "slanted" architectural concept, and had to fit the famous chinese "YOUYUAN" typeface as well. This is a both very clear and dynamic typeface.

This classic face is based on Kleukens Scriptura, designed by Friedrich Wilhelm Kleukens in 1926 for D Stempel AG. It served as an alternative to Lucien Bernhard's Cursive and an inspiration for Oswald Cooper's Pompeian Script. Both versions of the font contain the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

This disarming beauty is based on a typeface named "Archer" from the 1905 specimen book from Barnhart Brothers & Spindler. The original was a rather light face; this beefed-up version highlights the face’s charming quirks quite nicely. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Modeled after some antique stencil cutting tools spotted in an online auction, Stencil Cutter JNL portrays the look of hand tooled lettering. The rounded-end characters have their own personality and this eccentricity provides a warmth and charm from times past. Stencil Cutter JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A 1935 piece of sheet music entitled “(There’s A) Little Picture Playhouse in My Heart” had its movie-themed title hand lettered in a condensed Art Deco style with a few interesting character variations. The resulting digital type design is Stage Production JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Morris Fuller Benton's 1935 offering from ATF, entitled Raleigh Gothic Condensed, inspired this ultracompact masterpiece. This luscious, loopy Lombardic face was inspired by an offering in the 1938 classic, Letters and Lettering by Paul Carlyle and Gus Oring. Suitable for formal or informal occasions. An advertisement in a 1936 issue of “The Film Daily” for the movie “Mr. Deeds Goes to Town” had much of its copy set in an extrabold typeface similar to the Beton/Stymie/Karnac group of slabserif designs. This is now available digitally as Serif Formal JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Aries Streaks is the perfect typeface for any project in need of spunk, edge, or youth. It's extremely eccentric while remaining legible, and has both an air of nostalgia and modern style. Roklin is an elegant serif family for use as both formal text and headers. Has quite a lot of character alternatives and also enhanced ligatures. ITC Jellybaby is the work of British designer Timothy Donaldson, bouncing all over the place but somehow remaining compact and legible. It began as an extremely fattened version of Donaldson't typeface Pink but then became transformed into a play on the futuristic" typefaces of the 1960s. Jellybaby expresses both retro and modern design."

The family Night by Nicolai Gogoll includes 10 styles – five serifs and five sans. Both variants harmonize well with each other and each come in five weights, which allows for good use in CI. Combining the Serif and Sans also enables versatile and hierarchical design, which is great for interfaces and infomedia.

Inside the pages of an untitled sign painting textbook (circa 1902) was an example of the classic chamfered sans serif alphabets used by tradesmen of the time. This version was wider than most, and perfect for a digital version called Wide Chamfer JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The sheet music for "Dancing Butterfly" had the title of the 1929 composition hand lettered in what can be only described as an odd hybrid of letters with an Art Nouveau stencil influence. This quirky style became the basis for Odd Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A 1926 trade ad for the silent comedy “The Nut-Cracker” starring Edward Everett Horton has the film’s title hand lettered in a decorative bold sans serif design complete with highlight lines and accent dots. This festive type face is now available digitally as Movie Matinee JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

In the 1921 work Letters and Lettering by Frank Chouteau Brown, these letterforms were offered as examples of typical medieval English fare. The font is all caps, but there are variant letterforms in all the lowercase positions. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

You may think cartoon or kids product, when you take a look at Breaze - and you may be right…but I did have retro grafitti in mind, when I drew the letters. Well, actually I may have mixed both cartoon and grafitti! Anyway, it’s a playful font and is suitable for many things!

The French lettering book Album de Lettres Arti (1949) displayed a number of examples of unique, stylized typefaces. One in particular features a multi-line sans serif in a classic Art Deco style with open-ended characters. This design is now available as Sign Studio JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

In Issue Number 84 of Push Pin Graphic, Seymour Chwast offered up this rather odd variant of his own extrablack, superbold in-your-(type)face, Blimp. Not recommended for body copy, but makes interesting and unusual headlines. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

This “Anglican” style typeface is based on an 1880s release from St. Louis’ Central Type Foundry originally named Euclid. It’s amazingly versatile, easily at home in both formal and fun settings. All versions of this font include the Unicode 1250 Central European character set in addition to the standard Unicode 1252 Latin set.

Another variant to the ever-popular Art Deco sans lettering with solid centers (no counters) was found in the hand-lettered title on the cover of the 1933 song "There's A Ring around the Moon". This became the basis for the digital typeface Moonlit Walk JNL, available in both regular and oblique versions.

This elegant stencil face is based on lettering used by Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, popularly known as Le Corbusier, on his architectural drawings. Gans Antigua Manuscrito is a revival font by Intellecta Design. researched at the rare catalogue from the extinct Fundicion Richard Gans, from Madrid. Here's a companion font for the fun and playful typeface Doowop JNL from Jeff Levine. Doowop Initials JNL features an initial over the silhouette of a 1950s-style singing group. For an extra bonus, there's a handful of 50s-style icons on the number keys in both the upper and lower shift positions.

One of the type samples showcased in the 1907 Barnhart Brothers & Spindler specimen book was named “Sterling”; a spurred serif Art Nouveau design. This is now available digitally as Millinery JNL in both regular and oblique versions. An old fashioned term for a once plentiful business, ‘millinery’ is a women’s hat shop.

The Logansport, Indiana Pharos-Observer dated June 12, 1917 had the following headline running across its front page: “American Steamer Sunk by German U Boat”. The condensed slab serif typeface used to set that headline has been recreated digitally as Newspaper Publisher JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Ordinary Gothic JNL is a simple, thin "stovepipe" style of hand lettering found on the cover of a piece of sheet music for 1937's "You Can't Stop Me from Dreaming", and is available in both regular and oblique versions. The song was introduced and featured by Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians.
