I'll admit right off the bat here -- I've never been to a party in a barn. I don't even know if they still do barn dances and parties, or if that's something out of the musical Oklahoma! or something. But this font gave me kind of a homey, rustic feel, so the name felt right! Like many of my fonts, this one has been refined with crafters in mind -- smoothed curves and reduced nodes, for easy cutting and printing. It's also packed with over 600 characters total! The usual alphabet, numbers, and punctuation, plus 30 double-letter ligatures, over 300 diacritics, and a full second alphabet coded in as Stylistic Alternates. Enjoy!

This font is a collection of ornaments and drawings suitable for Halloween themed materials. There are bats, singly and in swarms, owls, dead trees, spiders and webs, as well as calligraphic ornaments with a decidedly creepy bent. Most of the characters in this font were drawn on a napkin with a felt marker, and the resulting ragged texture was very suitable to the Halloween subject matter. Where the same stroke is repeated in one glyph, the contours have been edited to minimize obvious repetition. Use it for your Halloween party invitations and posters. Louise font was based on the art of Louise Marie (lou) Loeber, a Dutch painter. She was born in Amsterdam in 1894 and flirted with several styles like De Stijl, Cubism and Bauhaus. Her artworks are characterized by a sober use of geometric shapes; lines, rectangles and triangles. Louise font consists of Caps, but the lower and upper case glyphs are quite different. Louise comes with extensive language support.

Sumply is a multi-layered type family based on geometric forms. A monospace display typeface which comes as a family of four. It is equipped with OpenType features and contextual alternatives to create a versatile and fresh output. Sumply initially was designed to be used in personalization processes in digital printing. By choosing the basic geometric cut (FOUR), patterns and various graphic elements can be created just by importing text variables into the indesign data merge. If combined with the other cuts the possibilities are sheer endless. Sumply was selected to be in the 2016 edition of Typodarium.

It all started with a simple idea back in 1998: do a digital version of a "lost" 70's typeface, and make up the missing letters that were not present in the only available example Jeff Levine had to work with. Jeff wasn't yet doing his own digital font creation, so he hooked up with Brad Nelson who owns a small foundry called Brain Eaters Fonts. Together, they collaborated on "Action Is"- a freeware font named after the source of the type example. This was a title page for a commemorative photo album of images from the 60's TV music show "Where the Action Is", formerly hosted by Jeff's employer at the time, singer-writer-producer Steve Alaimo. The free font took off like a rocket, being released just at the peak of the 60’s/70’s retro craze in the late 1990’s, and it was EVERYWHERE! It showed up on TV shows, packaging and web design -- and was even spotted on signage used on the side of a major amusement resort’s retro-themed hotel. From that point on, Jeff kept getting requests for a version with a lower case. Although they shared the copyright in the freeware version, Brad Nelson gave Jeff his blessing to re-work and take Action Is into the realm of commercial type. Newly improved and re-released as Groovy Happening JNL, it became one of Jeff's better selling type designs. A simplified, yet similar font was issued called Groovy Summer JNL. Now, after about a decade, Jeff had decided to clean up the 3-D (drop shadow) version that was originally freeware with many minute design flaws and re-release it commercially. Groovy 3D Caps JNL is an all-caps, limited character set font which ties in well with the previous releases, yet retains itís 1960s-1970s era charm. The font flag art is courtesy of Barbara D. Patterned after cheap neon signage, this face has class, all of it low. Named after a 70s TV show about a hotel with a defective neon sign. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 Latin and Unicode 1250 Central European character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Wine Cellar JNL is a bold, yet casual display face found on some 1930s-era sheet music entitled "Everybody Wants a Key to My Cellar". Since the subject of the song had a number of good times underneath the house, it's a fitting name for the font. The hand lettering for the original song sheet showed strong influence of the 1920s and the Art Nouveau style, and has hints of the popular metal type "Hobo" in its character shapes.

Deconstructed JNL is another set of rubber stamp alphabet letters and numbers from a 1930s toy printing set. The original typeface of this set is Cheltenham Open. The stamps were printed out and scanned, creating this limited-character font with dual characteristics. At small point sizes it replicates inked rubber stamp impressions, but in larger format it shows angular lines and erratic character shapes as if made from cut paper or lettering that was intentionally made to look damaged.

Macis is a real-and-fake-retro-modern font-family containing five weights from thin to black. It is inspired by shop signs, packaging and typography from around the middle of 20th century. Yard Goods JNL is another typeface derived from a sign making outfit consisting of a series of stencils manufactured by the Display Material Company of St. Paul Minnesota. This clean and casual sans design embodies the hand-lettering of 1920s and 30s era show cards, price tickets and display signs.

The opening title from the 1943 Abbott and Costello comedy ”It Ain't Hay” shows a park bench with the words “Universal Presents” stenciled on it in a chamfered sans serif style. This served as the design model for Grounds Crew Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The National Show Card Writer sign making set contained many different sizes and styles of lettering stencils, and additional type designs could be purchased as add-ons. This product was one of the many economical ways merchants, religious organizations, schools and others could make their own signs at low cost.
