I, uh, don't know quite what to say. I'd toiled so long over Pumpkinseed back in '96 that I guess I needed a good, wild ride to shake out the head cramps, or something. Whatever grabbed me, it forced me to sit down and design a typeface real fast directly in Fontographer (had never done that before). Took less than two hours to finish the regular character set. No way to explain it, but the exercise actually paid off -- I think. And now that there was Speed Bump, there simply had to be a companion dingbat set. (Beats the heck out of me.) Banister looks both contemporary and vintage. It contains a total of 12 styles including two main styles (Normal and Loaded), and for each style it comes with two widths (Semi-condensed and Semi-Expanded) and three weights (Light, Regular and Bold). The 40’s inspired style is subtle in banister, so it comes across more contemporary. Also, slightly curved strokes can be found on some letters, which gives a more organic feeling overall. Quite unusual, Musenberg started his Raldo design with the italic. The Narsinh Series (from the 1940 Gujarati Type Foundry of Bombay, India) is a modular metal font comprised of 32 basic shape pieces which would be assembled into any configuration to form various letters and numbers. Examples of the alphabet and numerals were set in an Art Deco, condensed sans serif and were the basis for this type revival. Strongly resembling a stencil design, the typeface was named after the revered 15th-century poet-saint of Gujarat, India Narsinh Mehta, and the foundry itself gets its name from the language and script of Gujarati [spoken by the Indo-Aryan residents of the Indian state of Gujarat]. Divided Highway JNL is the digital version of this design, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Cleveden was inspired by some lettering sighted on a neglected and somewhat tarnished brass plaque, affixed to an elderly office building. The elegance and character (somehow playful and formal at the same time) of the letterforms shone through the tarnished state of the plaque. As an aside the brass plaque in question was on the former business premises of a long established firm of accountants. We suspect the ethics of that profession would preclude us identifying which one. Our efforts to identify their engraver have proven unavailing. Cleveden is a family of four typefaces, Regular, Bold, Capitals and Capitals Bold. Gardner Sans is a humanist sans serif with a range of weights, italics, small caps stylistics alternates and a set of decorative ornaments. The light and regular faces work at smaller sizes and the heavier weights are good for display lettering. It is inspired by a few historical sources including Stephenson Blakes' Granby, Gill Sans, as well as some old hand-done lettering for sales tickets. The name (and the basis for the small caps) derives in-particular from the Roy Gardner collection of sales tickets from early 20th century that can be found on spitalfieldslife.com The heavier weights were particularly influenced by a later cut of Gill Sans, Extra Bold 321. The italic is more of a contemporary mix of humanist styles.

PF DaVinci Script Pro is based on DaVinci’s own handwriting. He is considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived.
