Linea 72 is a typical seventies display typeface that was designed by Roland Hirter back in the phototypesetting days, when typefaces were really drawn by hand. In this static environment each work step took its time. With the decision to digitize this typeface his son Thomas Hirter also chose to develop it further with todays technical possibilities. That’s why the font now includes over 600 glyphs and ten stylistic sets, offering different stylistic alternates of several letters. Linea 72 comes in the two original styles Regular and Kontur.

Sola is a simplistic, stylish, and modern san serif type font with the unique addition of rounded corners. When creating this font, Bank Gothic originally influenced me, however when I made the square shapes lower case the font didn't retain its sophistication, so it was designed narrower. The result is this warm and soft looking font that works for all types of design, from posters and fliers to logos and business cards. Sola also features standard ligature, stylistic alternates, titling characters with extended width, and a set of standard pictograms.

This engaging headline face is based on a rather pudgy typeface named “Bullion Shadow”, which was originally released somewhere on the cusp between the hippie and disco eras, and was equally at home in both. Now available in shaded and plain. Both versions of this font support the Latin 1252, Central European 1250, Turkish 1254 and Baltic 1257 codepages.

At first glance, this unusual display face might appear to be a product of the 1960s, with its highly unconventional letterforms and its plastic, fantastic highlight treatment. However, this font is in fact inspired by a ca. 1930 poster for a Belgian beer of the same name. The uncredited Flemish designer was clearly a head of his time (ouch!).

Tarweed is based on a Gothic Tuscan style wood type. Its floral decorative stem endings are similar to the buds of the pungent Tarweed flower found at elevation in the Rockies. Useful for any 19th century-looking typographic design Tarweed’s style can be useful for flower shops, billiard halls, music venues, restaurants and more. Expertly crafted to be used at large sizes these fonts also work well in digital applications.

During the heydey of automobile travel hundreds of motels, motor courts and tourist cabins sprung up along the roadways in order to offer weary drivers (and most often their families) rest with a night's lodging. Tourist Cabin JNL takes the inline portion from the inline font Asbury Park JNL and creates this pleasant monoline design. The original design inspiration (from which the inline portion of the letters was taken) was a 1930s WPA (Works Progress Administration) Federal art project poster with the hand-lettered words “Work with Care”

The design idea for this condensed sans serif stencil font was inspired by a post-World War II brass stencil spotted in an online auction. The United States was assisting Europe with much-needed goods, and the text in the middle of a “stars and stripes” shield used for marking the shipping containers read “For European Recovery supplied by the United States of America”. It was the first line (“For European Recovery”) that became the working model for Supplier Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Julietrose debuted in May of 2006 and was quickly embraced by members of the graphic design community, who found it as charming as its name. The playful, full-bodied script began to show up in all forms of graphic communication. However, it soon became apparent that a bold weight would add more versatility to the design. Martin Wait, Julietrose’s designer, happily obliged by drawing a new and more forceful weight of the typeface. Where Julietrose is vivacious and lighthearted, Julietrose Bold is assertive and speaks with authority. They are clearly sisters, though – both weights feature flamboyant swashes and elegantly long ascenders and descenders. Both designs also offer a suite of swash and alternate characters, and are available in OpenType format The Julietrose family is small but irresistible. This pair can easily charm their way into such diverse uses as posters, restaurant menus, social announcements and even product brochures.

Palitura is a display typeface designed to translate Cyrillic flavor into the Latin script. Palitura means lacquered book cover in Old Ukrainian. The design of letter shapes is inspired by Early Cyrillic handwritten letters and Ukrainian patterns that are conveyed through the sharpness of form, vertical strokes that are narrower at the bottom, stylized oblique hooks at the top, and triangular accents. Bex Script is a riff on traditional French script forms: the Bâtarde, the Ronde, and the Coulée. It has two versions: First, there’s La Belle, a straightforward, lovely interpretation of the script form, suitable for things like invitations, poetry and branding. La Belle’s evil twin is La Bête, a more whimsical (and considerably more hairy) version, great for anything that requires an elegant-but-beastly feel. Bex is surprisingly versatile! With three optional capital forms (Swash, Caps, and Small Caps) all taller than the x-height, Bex has a variety of voices. A full small cap set and a full set of Swash Caps, plus a large complement of alternates, initial forms, terminal forms, and ligatures makes it customizable and… well, FANCY! Additionally, both versions of Bex Script have a set of ten ornament glyphs. La Belle has a combination of fleurons on a culinary theme and symbols of France. La Bête has ten pseudoheraldic beasts that would feel at home at the top center of any whimsical letterhead. NOTE: A few years ago in Paris, I was lucky enough to stop at the Librairie Paul Jammes in St Germain-des-Prés, where I bought a turn-of-the-19th-century signature from a Type Specimen of the printer Joseph Gaspard Gillé. The irregularity of his script types — particularly the ones at smaller sizes, like the Cicéro — was very intriguing. They seemed to blend the Ronde with some elements of the Bâtarde and Coulée. And they, along with the work of French master penman Louis Rossignol, gave Bex Script its initial form.

I'm Andrea, creator at Nirmalagraphics and I want to present my latest font called "Kidszania". I took the name from a children's playground filled with writings posted on the wall. I found a child's writing style that is funny, looks clean and natural. I tried a rough sketch of a font that resembled the writing of the child, then I modified it to become the "Kidszania" font. This font can be used for any needs, especially children-themed designs.

I only had this bouncy curve and a photograph of a daily menu (Truite Meunière) I took outside an obscure Paris restaurant when starting the design of this font. But while working on it I suddenly started thinking about Jacques Tati the famous but almost forgotten french director of Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot, Jour des Fêtes, Mon Oncle, Playtime, Trafic etc. I thought about his bouncy walk and his hilarious ideas. The memories never left me while working on the font, so I decided to name the font after this great French moviemaker who gave me so many happy hours. In the MGM musical "Broadway Melody of 1940", a new stage production has its gala opening at the fictitious Lafayette Theater on the Great White Way. The front of the theater is resplendent with classic neon signage, and the theater's name is in an interesting Art Deco design. Musical Number JNL recreates this lettering in digital form.

The brand marking on a vintage wooden shipping case for bottles of Mission Naturally Good Orange Soda inspired Beverage Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. Mission was a popular soda in California from about 1929 through 1970.

Macquarie Heavy was used for a logo back in the mid nineties and never completed until recently when I decided to revive it. It works very well in all-caps blocky headlines and is surprisingly legible in lowers with plenty of strength.

SHE'S DEAD, FRANK It's the year 1991, BC (Before Comicraft) when REM were still making records and Frank Miller’s memorable run on Marvel Comics’ DAREDEVIL was just over ten years old. Comicraft’s Richard Starkings found himself working in Anaheim, California for Graphitti Designs. Graphitti had produced the first hardcover edition of Miller’s Batman tale, DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and was now putting together the sequel to Miller’s DAREDEVIL — ELEKTRA LIVES AGAIN! Richard was not engaged to letter this book, the pages of Frank’s incredible original art that came through Graphitti’s studio were already lettered by Marvel Stalwart, Jim Novak. However, there were some cover elements that needed to be added, based on the logo originally rendered by Frank’s brother, Steve. Starkings set about the task of creating an alphabet that could be used to develop Steve’s idea for the trade dress -- the cover elements, the back cover copy and credits on the interior pages. This was long before Macintosh computers and font programs made this work considerably easier, so Rich sat down with a pencil and a sheet of vellum and rendered an alphabet that could be used as the basis for the text that was needed... Those sketches have languished in a drawer for nearly thirty years, but now, finally, Comicraft’s John Roshell has dusted off those old letterforms and Elektrakuted a font based on those designs, a font we HAD to call ELEKTRAKUTION! As for Elektra; she’s dead, Frank. A group of unique metal plates with stencil initials cut into them was spotted while browsing through online auctions for source material. What made these items even more interesting was how some of the stencil letters had been sectionally divided - not vertically or horizontally as in most stencils, but lines cut at angles. This is the basis for Steel Stencil JNL and Steel Stencil Oblique JNL.

Collegiate is a full font based on the lettering around an old mosaic tile badge at Liverpool Collegiate School.

Main Feature JNL is patterned after the plastic letters found on theater marquees. As an extra bonus, the | (bar) key has the phrase "double feature", the ^ (ascii circumflex) has the word "and" and the ~ (ascii tilde) has the phrase "with" for anyone doing a theater marquee mock-up.

Divina is a Latinized digitization of one of German calligraphy master Rudolph Koch's typefaces. The original typeface, Kurrent, was designed in 1927 and cut in 1935. Its shapes are a variant of the German script to be used as a model for writing in schools at the time. This is the first time Koch's rendition of this particular blackletter calligraphy was ever digitized.

Glarestha is a modern high-contrast display font with bright positive character. Clean forms and a bit curly letter ends creates a friendly mood in any designs. Linotext was designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1901 and first appeared with the name Wedding Text with American Type Founders in Jersey City, where its metal forms were cut by hand. The font was so popular that its forms soon began appearing with other font foundries under different names, Elite Kanzlei with D. Stempel AG, Comtesse with C.F. Rühl, etc. Its ornamental forms are not considered very legible by today’s standards and Linotext should therefore be used for headlines and short texts in point sizes 12 or larger.
