Some of the lettering was a classic Art Deco "thick and thin" design while the others resembled comic book title lettering. Leaning toward the comic book style, the conflicting letters were revised and the finished result became Funny Business JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions.

All original letterforms available were incorporated into the set with little modification. Typographic convention was limited to creating three weight to serve the needs of the design community. Woodgrit Heavy is a perfect headline weight; Woodgrit Medium fits nicely in subheads, and Woodgrit Thin enables this chunky font to even work well as body copy.

The source for these hand-drawn initials was an early 20th Century French alphabet book whose pages were displayed online at an image sharing site.
