Astrum Heart is a very decorative script font using elegant caligraphic handwritten letters, that are all mutually interconnected, creating a unique look & feel of a personalized human handwritting. Letters and other characters are recognizeable by prefined ornaments, incorporated in a very subtle way. Whitespace between capital letters, lower-case letters, numbers and other characters are done in a way to minimize the need for kerning. Font Astrum Heart, besides being a celebration of class and exclusivity, is a very luxurious and elegant handwritten font. Words consisting of lower-case letters have the possibility of being decorated by adding a small heart at the beginning, anywhere between the letters, or at the end of the word. A girl’s handwriting written on the iPad Writing changes – throughout history over centuries, but also from generation to generation. Each new generation of students learns to write the basic forms of the letters a little differently than their predecessors. The role model is also changing. The cursive handwriting taught in school is getting closer and closer to printed type. The children no longer learn the forms of cursive handwriting required for connected writing, but first the “block letters”, only later should they develop their own individual handwriting from this, which many of them no longer do. And the writing tool is also changing. Of course, script looks different when children no longer learn to write on paper with a fountain pen, but on a tablet computer with the “pencil”. The writing experience is completely different, and the “material properties” are different too. There is practically no writing resistance that would make it difficult to move against the direction of writing. "Die Lara" was created based on the template by Lara Mörwald from the winter of 2023. In the variable font, the intermediate forms can be selected steplessly. In order to preserve the handwritten character of the font, "Die Lara" contains several alternates to most letters and numerals, so that different character forms alternate in the typeface. Homelessfonts is an initiative by the Arrels foundation to support, raise awareness and bring some dignity to the life of homeless people in Barcelona Spain. Each of the fonts was carefully digitized from the handwriting of different homeless people who agreed to participate in this initiative. MyFonts is pleased to donate all revenue from the sales of Homelessfonts to the Arrels foundation in support of their mission to provide the homeless people in Barcelona with a path to independence with accommodations, food, social and health care. Loraine was born in London. She was an ordinary, hardworking family person, with nothing to worry about beyond paying the rent at the end of the month or keeping the fridge full. Until in 2009 she came to Barcelona on holiday. Soon after she arrived her passport was stolen from her and she had a series of problems with the British embassy. Somebody had made illegal use of her passport. So Loraine found herself in a strange place, unable to get home. She didn’t know anyone there and her circumstances meant she couldn’t ask for help from England, either. She had to sell all her possessions and, in time, learn to speak Spanish. “Living in the street is a wonderful adventure,” she says. In the street she discovered a new city, a new country and a new culture. “There are lots of people who prefer to sleep under the stars.” She also made lots of friends who helped her in a completely unfamiliar world.

Supera Gothic is a design inspired by the early geometric and humanist typefaces of the 20th century. Its characters draw inspiration from Erbar Grotesk by Jakob Erbar and Johnston by Edward Johnston; hence, in heavier weights, the “f” and “t” bars are pointed which honor Erbar’s work, and Supera’s uppercases and numbers reflect Johnston’s proportions and features. The result is a sans serif family with both, a historical and modern touch perfectly suited for all types of graphic works. Super Gothic comes in 9 weights plus its matching italics and is equipped with a large range of opentype features. Fun fact, Erbar had attended calligraphy classes carried out by Anna Simons, who was a former student of Johnston (Tracy, 1986). Maybe in modern times, they had met through social media, and some collaborative work would have risen, who knows.

I was in a bit of a gloomy mood just before I created this font. I had no inspiration whatsoever (which always affects me in a bad way). I was trying to create a font using broken satay skewers, as using those gives the letters a unique look. I broke about 25 skewers and they all broke ‘the wrong way’. Yes, it’s pathetic, I know, but that’s how it is. I decided to go to the gym and do a little workout, hoping my dark mood would pass. When I came back, I broke one more skewer and lo and behold, it broke exactly the right way! I made this font in one go, using that fantastic skewer and lots of Chinese ink. Darkness Rising comes with all the diacritics you’ll need, plus double letter ligatures and some cool underlined alternates.
