Circe Rounded is an extension for a popular Circe typeface, with rounded terminals. Bold and ExtraBold faces have two variants with different radius of the roundings. Circe Rounded is even more friendly than the original Circe. The typeface is designed by Alexandra Korolkova and Alexander Lubovenko and released by ParaType in 2015. It is known that the Circe typeface is distinguished by mild and humanist nature being formally a geometric sans-serif. However, as an experiment we decided to make it even softer: Circe now has a version with rounded terminals — Circe Rounded. Rounding is generally regarded as a mechanical operation, but in this case a lot of manual adjustment was needed because of the humanist nature and peculiarities of type design. Moreover, the two bold styles now have two options: a basic one is slightly rounded and an alternate one is fully rounded. In Circe Rounded we decided to dismiss characters with swashes that are rather inappropriate in such a rounded font, but the stylistic sets and alternate characters are remaining. Rounded terminals make an open and friendly typeface even more childish. For example, in quite large point sizes (because the x-height is still not big) it can be used as a body type in infant books. Circe Rounded, similar to Circe, has alternative forms of lowercase characters, which are called “infant” and are used in publications for children’s reading. However, a humanist basis is preserved alongside with its softness and it does not allow it to be as “plasticine” as many other rounded fonts. Two of the most obvious areas of possible application of Circe Rounded are everything for children and everything edible, especially all that is sweet and puff. However, we believe that there are other options.

The Verdana typeface family was designed specifically to address the challenges of on-screen display. Verdana was originally designed by world-renowned type designer Matthew Carter, and tuned for screen display by the leading TrueType hinting expert, Tom Rickner. Commonly confused characters, such as the lowercase i j l, the uppercase I J L and the number 1, have been carefully drawn for maximum individuality - an important characteristic of fonts designed for on-screen use. Another reason for the legibility of the Verdana fonts on the screen is their generous width and spacing.Designed by David Berlow and David Johnathan Ross of the Font Bureau, with typographic consultation by Matthew Carter, the new Verdana Pro includes a variety of advanced typographic features including true small capitals, ligatures, fractions, old style figures, lining tabular figures and lining proportional figures. An OpenType-savvy application is required to access these typographic features. The expanded weights and completely new condensed range of fonts provide designers with an expanded palette of typographic options for use in print and on-screen, in both small text sizes and headlines.

It was expected that Joluvian’s third type font would be inspired by the city where he currently resides: Madrid, Spain. His previous creations had originated in Venezuela (Zulia) and The Philippines (Salamat), both, places where he had once lived. Joluvian believes “now is the time to pay tribute and show gratitude towards a city that has bestowed me with so many fortunes.” He considers that Madrid’s people, streets, scents, flavor and sounds are gift enough to awaken the creative urgency in any artist. This time around, it is being expressed through the crafts of the Typographic industry. Since his arrival in Spain, Joluvian has been attached to the city’s central area, specifically to the renowned Atocha Street and its railroad station. It was precisely on that street that Joluvian and Mauco Sosa, his friend and partner, decided to establish the Patera Studio: a charming creative space that birthed the concept for this new font which they proudly named Atocha Script. The artists where still in the final phases of their previous script, Salamat, when the idea for Atocha came about. This dynamic is actually very typical of the artistic process, in which every finished product spawns the need to create its next level offspring. “Working on Atocha and Atocha Caps has been a very pleasant journey. We have given our best efforts, for we wanted to offer a typeface that was both versatile and user-friendly on a number of applications, showing a wide scope of alternatives in our glyphs,” says the artist. The Atrament font family was originally conceived in 2003 as the corporate display type family for Suitcase Type Foundry. Its original source of inspiration is the front cover of the Devetsil - Revolucni slovn’k almanac (1922), designed by Karel Teige. The lettering on this cover is a condensed sans serif with rounded stroke terminals. Atrament is significantly broader than the model and its characters are better balanced, reflecting the evolution of semi-condensed sans serifs throughout the 1960s. The horizontal strokes of both lower and upper case are less stressed than the vertical stems. Noteworthy are the unusual tiny gaps in the apex and vertex of letters with diagonal strokes, designed to prevent ink from spreading and smudging the letter shapes. This detail is one of the main features of the font's character. The general feel of the italics closely matches the strictly vertical, parallel character of the regular cut. When converting the family to OpenType the alternate character shapes from the Alternator weights were incorporated in the regular cut, which allows the user to switch selected characters from one shape to another within the same font. A number of glyphs and accents were corrected, and all the glyphs missing in the Suitcase Standard character set were added, along with the relevant kerning pairs. The individual weights of Atrament Std thus contain accented upper and lower case, small caps, alternate glyphs for most European languages, nine types of numerals, superscript characters, caps glyph versions, and much more. Its narrow proportions make Atrament the perfect choice whenever economy of space is a must. It is however not very well suited for setting long texts. Very few letter types with the context of grunge style fonts offer hierarchies to differentiate words in sentences or paragraphs. With Navaja I developed a font family that meets this need. This family is useful to organize the information into a hierarchy with an eroded look. Its central idea mixes grotesque, geometric and humanistic letter conventions. This way, Navaja is a grunge-sans with dense proportions to make graphic design with eroded character. Its main purpose appeared when one of my customers asked me for a t-shirt design for a fan club of an important football player. For this reason its starting point were stained and muddy letters characterizing the toughness and coldness of the sport. Over time their glyphs began to imitate the robustness of "wood type & Tuscan Type" widely used in posters in the late nineteenth century. Its purpose was strengthened in a family with 6 members that when mixed they produce mind catching contrast levels ideal for designing T-shirts, stickers, flyers, brochures, posters, billboards, cinema or TV. Therefore its variants are short up and down height X combined with different widths that by working together produce information that radiates outstanding apparently destroyed controlled violence. Navaja Dingbats consists of 52 illustrations useful for frames and textures. In that vein, the origin of each member comes from skeletons of Roman and Italic calligraphy. The low amount of contrast between thick and thin lines matching the contours apparently gnawed but strictly regulated by optical adjustments equating the sum between full and empty areas. Factors such as finishes, shapes and counter internal and external forms are meticulously planned although its scruffy look which strategic arrangements are offset to provide color typographical homogeneous. And in conclusion, I have plans to continue expanding the family with more complete versions in the future.

You might call this a Bodoni Ornate font that Bodoni never made, close examination of this old 1800s font and it's plain to see that the top half of the letters is very Bodoni in appearance. Apple Pie is a revival of and old font from the William Hagar Type Foundry, which I've been able to date back to 1850. The William Hagar type specimen book from the 1850s only shows this font as a caps only typeface plus numbers, later in 1869 MacKellar Smiths and Jordan offered this font with a lowercase. Over a two year period I was able to collect enough letters to begin production of this old decorative font, the type specimen books only showed a small line of text for this font so I would search through old documents on eBay and also shows relating to Ephemera. I could have easily developed a new font based on a very small sample of letters but I wanted to wait and find as many letters as possible, I was unable to find the Q, X, Z and ten lowercase letters so those missing letters are of my own design. New to this font is the addition of an all Caps Greek character set, accented letters for Eastern Central and Western European countries is also within this font. Fill fonts are available for the Apple Pie font, you will need an application that works in layers such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Corel Graphics in order to use the Fill fonts. Some Fill fonts may be used as stand alone fonts but the versions for Apple Pie look best when layered behind the parent or main Apple Pie fonts. Minimal, modular, modern—at first glance, Materia shows a contemporary flair, combining pure, strong geometrical form with a subtle, distinct appearance. Actually, the design was inspired by lettering from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century that still can be found in the East of France. While its formal origins date back as far as this, revived e. g. by the constructivists into the nineteen twenties and later on by Dutch information designer Wim Crouwel in the nineteen-sixties, the visual language of Materia still speaks of the »future«. Following a minimalistic concept the font is formally built on a grid. Wherever optical curves are needed for a smoother, more comfortable shape of letters than a simple rectangular block, diagonals cut off the egdes – like a diamond is cut to achieve more beauty. Thus headlines and texts set in Materia are given a certain »egdy« feeling, whereas their tonality is still kept well-balanced, keeping concentation all on information in a nonconfomist way. Materia comes in eight styles, from elegant Thin to attention-forcing Ultra. Even a regular Italic is available, following the classic type-set-principle. Two of the styles are explicitly designed for display use, Shadow and Code. Both are ready for combinations with Bold or each other respectively, the layering of Shadow and Code e. g. allows astonishing effects or highlighting within the letters. For OpenType-users Materia is a real Pro, containing accented Latin letters for over 70 languages, small caps, old style, tabular and lining figures and special condensed titling all caps for cases in which space is all that counts.
