Technical Stencil VP is the stenciled version of Technical Standard VP and the two typefaces can be used either on their own or together seamlessly. The initial inspiration for their design came from examining the various types of precisely machined labels on tools from cameras to cars, which need to be perfectly legible at all sizes. The unique streamlined look such processes achieve was carefully reinterpreted and the resulting fonts are at the same time robust and stylish, both universal and unique. Technical Stencil VP includes ten distinct styles, offering great versatility. All styles in this family include an extensive Latin character set, the Greek alphabet, multiple sets of numerals, a large set of punctuation marks, and other symbols. With 1120 glyphs in each style, it guarantees full support for all Latin languages. To make the family even more powerful, twenty OpenType features are included, such as multiple vertical positions, diagonal fractional forms, optional slashed zeros, separate old-style and lining figures, small capitals, and contextual alternates.

This is a special font for use creating US Postal Service "Intelligent Mail" barcodes. Those are the barcodes you see on most cards and envelopes. Commercial mailers get the best pricing by printing barcodes when they address the mail, saving the Postal Service a step. The barcodes are also used on reply mail and Share mail, and for "Informed Visibility" tracking. Software to create these barcodes, including the USPS Intelligent Mail Small Business (IMsB) tool, typically provide an output of 65 characters, each character being an A, D, T or F, corresponding to each of the styles of bar. SmartBars 12 replaces those characters with the corresponding bar. When doing a mail merge to print addresses, the user would set the barcode field on their merge template to be printed using SmartBars 12, at 12 point, regular, and the barcode will print with the correct bars and at the required size to meet USPS requirements.

Type designer Hannes von Döhren created Klint. A sans serif typeface with a technical appearance and humanistic streak. The family includes five weights; each weight ships in three widths: condensed, regular, and extended. All of the 15 Klint variants have a companion Italic, rounding out family at 30 fonts. Klint's large x-height makes the design especially legible at small point sizes. In today's day and age, appliance manufacturers and/or companies in the mobile phone, computer hardware and software or Internet sectors are becoming ever more important. Klint fills the rising need for superfamilies with a technical feeling that are also legible in both text and display settings. Through conspicuous letters like R, K, k, or g, as well as the independent nature of its Italic, Klint exudes an ethos that separates it from the competition. Longer text passages in brochures, catalogs, or magazines would be well served by Klint's Light, Regular, and Medium weights. The heavier cuts are optimized for poster settings and headlines."

Doretypo was born accidentally, during the design of a poster for a jazz festival in Rome. I was going to realize a typesetting, but I could not find the right character and decided to draw the letters I needed, starting from the first letter of the headline, capital M. I was looking for a lettering able to evoke musical notes, where each letter could be linked to the following one, to the previous one, to the largest at the top and the smallest at the bottom. From this idea doretypo came to life gradually. In the beginning there were a few medium capital letters with very few glyphs, but given the good results I decided to decline in light and bold, integrating minuscule letters, for a whole of 374 glyphs. Today doretypo OpenType is a family of fonts with three weights, 374 glyphs, supporting about 57 languages, ligatures standard, plus a new “NY”. Moreover, each glyph can be used individually to create textures and graphic symbols.

Proper was based on handwritten characters (of my own) that I scanned and then digitally touched up. I kept the digital editing to a minimum so as to preserve the freshness of the original. I did, however, want to convey a sense of propriety and regularity and so my original handwriting was done with quite a lot of control. I kept the size of the lower case characters quite large and this makes the font very readable, even at quite small point sizes. Proper may be used when you need clean, legible text, with a natural look, e.g.: -- magazines aimed at the natural health market -- "natural look" fashion pages -- "natural look" decor pages -- natural food products -- natural beauty products -- children's books -- packaging for children's toys, games etc. -- educational material -- comics Proper contains a full character set with all upper and lower case characters, numerals, symbols, accented characters and it has been carefully spaced and kerned.

LTC Goudy Initials has been a best-seller since it was reformatted to font format by P22 in 2005. We decided that while it works very well at medium sizes, when it was used extra large, the outlines were not as true to Frederic Goudy’s 1917 drawings as they could be. We decided to redraw from the ground up—and here we have the NEW LTC Goudy Initials! Meticulously redrawn by Miranda Roth, these ornaments referenced original proofs of large sizes of Cloister Initials. In our quest for artwork for this project, we even arranged a quickly sold out recasting of the 120 point size and have produced a limited edition letterpress print from this casting This new digital version features two additional layers to allow for quick colorizing of the central letter and/or the floriated background. Linotype Franosch™ is a three weight display typeface designed by artist/graphic designer Max Franosch. Around the time of making the initial sketches, Franosch was looking a lot at Arabic newspaper and magazine headlines. He was drawn to their bold and very graphic" type. A common feature was the "floating" dots which added a rhythmic quality to the text. This came to influence the use of dots in Linotype Franosch™. Apart from this influence, Linotype Franosch also has a very clean and futuristic feel to it, due mainly to the highly geometric nature of the characters and the uniform stroke weight. Amarone is a spiky calligraphic display typeface with some old fashioned flavour. It was designed by Carl Crossgrove, and includes an extensive set of swash caps which allow for extra drama where needed. Crossgrove wrote each of Amarone's letters by hand using pen and rough paper, and has retained some of this visual texture in the final digital design. The typeface works well at small sizes, but when used at larger sizes this texture comes to the fore. Amarone's elegant, formal character can be modified with its swash caps, which allow the typeface to move from prim and ordered to wildly expressive. Amarone lends itself well to packaging, posters and editorial usage – or in any environment where designers need to evoke times gone by. The Amarone font features an extensive character set with support for over 130 languages, and a range of OpenType typographic features including ligatures, initial and terminal forms, figures, fractions and swashes.

Kontras has high contrast at vertical and horizontal emphasis. When analyzing characters as a whole, it has contrast at style and practice too. Although has not much alternative characters, it provides decorative and grift effects because of this characteristic. Kontras is ideal for brand building, packet designs, decorative titles and so on. However it contains standard ligatures, contextual alternates (R, a, &), discretionary ligatures and case-sensitive forms. “Kontras” has been derived from “kontrast” which means contrast and opposition in Turkish.

A retro-style can be regarded as lack of original contemporary ideas. But also as passion for nostalgic time-traveling. Everyone wants to return to their youth at least for a moment. Inicia was one of my first designs (hence the name) from the mid-eighties. The original drawing was never finished because there were too many similar typefaces around. After three decades the shapes of the old designs suddenly became tempting to finish. Now restored and completed at Storm Type Foundry.

Palitura is a display typeface designed to translate Cyrillic flavor into the Latin script. Palitura means lacquered book cover in Old Ukrainian. The design of letter shapes is inspired by Early Cyrillic handwritten letters and Ukrainian patterns that are conveyed through the sharpness of form, vertical strokes that are narrower at the bottom, stylized oblique hooks at the top, and triangular accents. Humanist 531 is the Bitstream version of Syntax (Stempel, 1968) by Hans Eduard Meier. A humanist sans serif typeface with an optically even thickness of the line which interprets a humanist old style type of the Renaissance. Its vertical strokes are inclined to the right by one degree. Serves well in text and display typography. Cyrillic version was developed at ParaType in 1999 by Isay Slutsker and Manvel Shmavonyan and was awarded Diplomae at Kirillitsa'99 and "bukva:raz!" type design contests.

Groovecore is a modern bold serif display font with an unmistakable 1970s vibe. This is a design that is equally at home on a retro t-shirt logo as it is on a stylish fashion headline. I have seen my share of badly stuffed animals. Most of them via pictures, but also on vacations here and there. They all had this really bad handcraft vibe, but at the same time some really ordinary and kind of cute looks. I did my best to capture this look and feeling in my Badly Stuffed Animal font: clumsy letters made with a blobbly pen, with naive and irregular lines - and the conclusion is something super useful for a project that needs an organic handmade look!

Around 1931, the Los Angeles Times (in partnership with the Richfield Oil Company) installed on its building a moving message board similar to the one at the New York Times in New York City which they dubbed an “electric newspaper”. The style of characters used on this electronic sign were the basis for the namesake font Electric Newspaper JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. A blank space to place between words is available on both the solid bar and broken bar keystrokes.

Fedtspiller is danish and the definition could be someone who plays with a low risk and defensive (at least when talking about soccer) Although there is a slight negative feeling to that, I remember several guys when playing soccer as a kid who benefitted as playing as a "Fedtspiller" :) Anyway, Fedtspiller is a legible comic/text font with softened edges. Ripe Apricot is a display typeface with flared semi-serifs. The design was created by renowned Armenian type designer Manvel Shmavonyan who gave to the typeface such a name not because of some associations with letterforms but just because the end of the long work happened at the time of apricot maturity in Armenia. Energia Pro is yet another new, charming and whimsical profonts script typeface designed by Ralph M. Unger. Cross Stitch Coarse is based on upper case characters 5 stitches tall and contains the upper case characters A-Z, numbers 0-9, ampersand, exclamation and question marks, comma, and period. Also, under the character set are all possible combinations of stitches 5 high from 1 through 5, which allows for the creation of custom glyphs. If the font is set at solid leading, lines following will align and mesh with stitches above. When setting lines of copy, extra leading is required to separate individual lines.

Around the turn of the 20th Century, the Inland Type Foundry produced a display face named Studley. It was a variation on a design by another foundry called Florentine. A condensed face with a bold, clean look, the design resembled the warmth and feel of a classic wood type. Best applied to headlines and titles, the font reads amazingly well at even 18 point renderings. Jeff Levine had added his own personal touch to his digital version of this old favorite and renamed it Bayview JNL.
