Marylebone is a font duo inspired by its namesake neighborhood, located in central London. Marylebone was designed to compose short text for advertisements, blackboards and shop windows in coffee shops, small bookstores, flower shops and local shops. The set is made up of a hand made brush script, composed of 519 characters including ligatures, initials and terminals; as well as a very clean, geometric unicase sans serif with some alternates and ligatures that can double as monograms, it also includes a hand-drawn floral dingbat set. A handwritten ”font for technicians“ from ca. 1900. Very geometrical, rigid forms borrowed from the typical characteristics of Jugendstil / Art Nouveau. This script is found in an old magazine which was issued sometime in the years shortly before WWI. The original copy, produced by means of a galvanized plate, is just 7 centimeters wide. It served as the model for technical professions in which, at that time, the captions of drawings were still done by hand. ingoFonts has not only digitized this beautiful typeface, we have also extended it to a whole family. In »Maier’s Alte Nr. 8« special attention was given to ensure the ”uneven“ edges, typical of handwritten script, remained effectively noticeable even in the digitized form. As a result, this ”technical“ font retains a handmade touch, while »Maier’s Neue Nr. 8« is the clean version with exact contours. The Art Nouveau forms, which are characteristic for the period of origin around the turn of the century around 1900, look especially pretty. The high degree of abstraction also seems strange in Maier's No. 8, especially when the age of the original is known. It is generally assumed that it was not until the Bauhaus in the late 1920s that such "modern" typefaces were created. Maier's No. 8 is a generation older! So many of today's supposedly "ultramodern" typefaces look quite old in comparison. In addition to the original two weights, Light and Bold, the Maiers Neue Nr. 8 got a regular and a extra-bold weight. Furthermore, the Neue is also available in italics. Although this is only a slanted version, unlike common practice, it is inclined to the left. Maier’s Nr. 8 Pro is suitable for all European languages. It includes ”Latin Extended-A,“ for Central and Eastern Europe incl. Turkish, and even Cyrillic and Greek, too. The font includes several stylistic alternates as well as a number of ligatures.

Sketchwriter™ is a terribly fun hand-drawn typeface designed with many uses in mind. At small point sizes, it's a little grungy. The larger the display, the more interesting the stroked glyphs become.

In today's typographic landscape, few would still consider Bodoni to have a "modern" feel, but there was once a time when it's vertical axis and thinned horizontal strokes were considered radical. Volterra—inspired by the forms of Bodoni—finishes what Bodoni started and eliminates the horizontal stroke altogether, breathing an elegant new energy into a 200-year-old classic. Named for the artist hired to paint loincloths over Michelangelo's "Last Judgement" when nudity in religious art was condemned, Volterra acknowledges that it is no easy feat picking up where a master left off. Volterra takes what has grown to feel traditional and transforms it into a delicate mixture of classic and modern, with razor-edged serifs and ultra-sharp strokes. Strictly a display face, the larger Volterra is used, the better it looks.

My kids have a tin box filled with crayon and pencil leftovers: bits and pieces that have fallen or broken off, but are still good enough to use. For me it is a treasure trove, as I often find a nice bit of crayon to use for a new font. In this case, I created Leftover Crayon. Leftover Crayon is a fat, crumbling and seriously eroded crayon font. Completely hand made, completely legible and full of character. Supporting Cast JNL is a hybrid of similar designs for hand lettering found on title cards from two morality photoplays from 1936 dealing with drug abuse, "Cocaine Fiends" and "Marihuana" respectively. The films were produced with the hope of educating the public against the dangers of illicit drugs, but they have taken on a cult status because of the dated approach to the problem. Despite all this, it is the Deco-influenced hand lettering which is being celebrated in this font release, not the subject matter of the films.

This hand-crafted font was designed for architect, blueprint and drawing use. Small font sizes have good contrast and are very easy to read. Larger font sizes create distinguished-looking headings. This font is also a good choice for adding a personal hand lettered touch, as opposed to fonts with perfectly formed lines and curves or other script fonts that are less formal and often difficult to read. Steinwald font was named after a mountain range slash nature park in southern Germany. I have to admit that I have never been there, but this font was just screaming for a good German name and I settled on Steinewald (which, in German, means Stone Forest). Steinwald was made by hand and cleaned up by computer. It looks quite neat, but its edges are a bit rough, giving it ‘ye olde handmade look’! Circolino is calligraphic script typeface set that is inspired by the letterforms taught in Italian schools. Each letter combination is designed to tie in perfectly within the word. Apnea is a layerable type family consisting of fifty weights. It is an all caps font with a few lowercase alternatives (a, e, i, m, n, t, w, and y) thrown in for a more casual feel. The base letterforms are inspired by a painted sign I found in the garage of an old house I moved into years ago. All the hand-drawn elements were done directly in FontLab to keep them loose and playful without getting distorted or grungy.
